I just booked one. The sleigh rides run on the hour and half hour, last 25 minutes. They "typically" can take 5 people but all 5 can't be adults (it is a weight thing). They said a party of 4 adults would likely be a limit, 2 adults 3 kids should be ok depending on kids sizes. It is $60 a sleigh flat rate, not per person. You pay up front, he said you can cancel up to 1 day in advance. Check in is very near HoopDeeDoo entrance/exit. You go through the campground where people go crazy with decorations...he even said some people pull a trailer behind a trailer just to haul in decorations! Some people buy a second campsite just to set up!

See I need to stop hearing about this stuff cuz I will want to put EVERYTHING into our plans and I am still waiting on P&P and Wishes!!! I booked our sleigh ride for after our Mickeys BBQ on Dec 15 the day we arrive...my kid better sleep on the plane :rotfl2:

We have dinner reservations at Trails End one night at 8. This sounds like a perfect way to spend a half hour before our meal.

Perhaps this one will be a secret from the lady.

:D

Pequele....Congrats on booking the sleigh rides!! I really wanted to do it as a group but I understand the restrictions. My father has stage 4 cancer and I wanted all three generations of the family to be together. Also, wanted to all do the carriage ride together after the day of BBB, CRT and hopefully BoG! But again, it's the same restrictions.

We are also having a Pirate Day starting with PL and want to end up doing the P&P cruise to end the night...just wish they'd start taking reservations!!

I saw you were also waiting on Wishes. Is that the Wishes Dessert Party? That sounds interesting to me but not sure how my 3 & 4 yr olds would do!!! That's why we aren't doing CP. I don't want to ruin it for the people around me. My kids are SOOOOOOO active and can't sit still for a second!!!

Question about the Wishes Desert Party - for my first time seeing the show, is it worth it to see it from the front of the castle, as it was designed to be seen? Or is it better from the desert party? Or from the Pirates and Pals cruise?

Looking at the on line calendar for Wishes Dessert Party. Only available to book through Dec 29. Anyone know why Dec 30/31 can't be booked yet?

I worked on my touring plans this week and I'm struggling a little bit. I'm trying to really slow this trip down from our previous trips. But I don't know how to *not* do a commando touring plan. This will be our 4 th trip in 2 years. It's a 13-day trip and we're taking my inlaws so slow is important. And it's not even that I'm trying to fit too much in; I just don't know how much extra time to leave.

The TP optimizer says I have 100 minutes of free time in my current plan. And that's after I allocated 1.5 hours to strolling down Main Street. The plan basically calls for us to cover Fantasyland, Frontierland and Liberty Square, skipping the Mountains and anything that spins, except Dumbo. I'm comfortable with the ride timing; it's a slow day. But I dont know what to do with the free time - leave it, let DS play more SOTMK ( some time is scheduled in), book an early dinner at BOG or move up some of the MK Day 2 Itinerary (I.e., Adventureland/Tomorrowland).

I've gotten really good at timing ride plans on a normal touring plan. But I just have no experience with a slow plan to draw on.

Maybe you can stop to get a sillouette done of DS in Mk? There are 2 areas I know of...1 on Main Street and 1 near the Christmas Shop. It is a great memento! You can also grab some dole whips and sit and people watch on the rocking chairs in Frontierland.

I've never used an actual "touring plan" although I subscribe to that site and use it to plan which park to attend on which days.

First question: Does the touring plan portion of that site take into account that the new Fantasyland should be mostly open? I imagine that would change up even the best laid plan.

Second, I'm not trying to be mean or judgemental at all. But if you want to slow down, why do the touring plan at all? How about just picking a park, setting a few early morning priorities when the lines are short..... then just winging it. How can you know sitting at home months in advance what will strike your fancy? If you have down time, grab a table by Casey's and just absorb the atmosphere. Maybe something struck your fancy in the Emporium the day before and you want to go buy it. Maybe the kids loved Dumbo so much you must do it again. Maybe you want to get in line early to try out the Be Our Guest counter service lunch.

In my opinion, open time n the Magic Kingdom is not a problem to be solved. It's a gift left to be unwrapped when you're AT the park.

Actually, times are showing - BUT you can't book. You can't book the dessert parties but either 60 or 90 days in advance. Greyed out areas means there isn't one that night - now whether or not that is true for the 30th and 31st I don't know... If I had to guess, I'd assume perhaps there isn't one those nights because of NYE... NYE is a HUGE thing with the fireworks in MK, so there may be no extra special events. Could totally be wrong though! Perhaps they just haven't released times for those days?? I'm looking to book one for Dec 1.

I don't think Dec. is available for booking yet. Take a look at this thread which is over on the restaurant reservation board: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2699362

The first post has info for when the booking historically opens.

I echo mom2rtk - 13 days is way long enough to be able to get everything done at a good pace. My tour plan is literally which park which day and our ADRS. Everything in between we wing it and enjoy :)

TP does have listed the Fantasyland attractions that we know will be open. Of course, that's subject to change in the next 4 months. ;)

I know that a lot of people don't do detailed touring plans but I can't really work that way. Keep in mind though, that planning to that level does not mean the plan is inflexible. For me, planning to the nitty gritty detail, means more flexibility. It means that if something does change - we sleep in, someone gets sick, a ride breaks down, we decide to ride Dumbo repeatedly - I know exactly what needs to be moved, rearranged or skipped altogether. And I know where in the schedule we can move things to. I know which items on are schedule are hard times (like shows) or non-negotiable, like our Le Cellier reservation. Everything else is flexible; it's just a matter of trade-offs. At the end of the trip, I want to know that we did everything that was on our priority list and that where we made trade-offs, they were ones that made us happy. :goodvibes

I think the big thing that is tripping me up right now is that my in-laws have never been. So there's a few things I know they will love, but most of it, I'm just guessing. I did spend a couple hours today working through the plans for all 4 parks and I'm pretty happy with them. I ended up with "free" time in all of them, so I think that's a good thing. But I shifted things around so I didn't have huge gaps.

I also realized we had a lot of extra time in Epcot before 11am (when WS opens), so I booked the Segway tour for DH, DSis and my in-laws. My in-laws recently did a Segway tour around town and my DH has always wanted to do this, so I know they'll love it. I'm keeping it a surprise. Only downside is I can't go because DS is too young. But I'm sure we'll find something fun to do. And I might schedule the GF Pirate Adventure for him on one of our off days. Mostly that depends on whether I want to get out of bed on our off day to take him over there. ;)

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I feel better about the plans now that they are reasonably fleshed out. And I'm excited for the extra surprise I planned.

We got our tickets for MVMCP for 12/4! Yayyyy! Very excited to see the Dream Lights and CP. So magical and a check off on my bucket list. ;)

The best laid plans, right?

I can't plan down to the hour on vacation or I will drive myself and everyone else crazy because things are always changing, especially with kids.

Anyway some questions for anyone that is up for helping.

When the castle lights up during the MVMCP is it different than non MVMCP nights?

Has anyone been to Cat Cora's restaurant, or planning to

Are there any meetups happening?

Thanks

Gina

We went to Kouzzina last year and we'll be going again in December. We enjoyed it. We're big foodies so it was interesting enough for us but tame enough that we're comfortable taking the in-laws. The quality was very good. We particularly enjoyed the wine. I would definitely recommend it. :thumbsup2

On a totally random note, my DH ran into Chef Morimoto in the restroom while we were there.

The lights are the same on the castle party or not. The fireworks music and theming is different though during the party.

Awesome! Yes we are foodies too and can't wait to try this one.
