This was the problem! Thank you! Granted, it took me a few days to figure out my screen name ... but once I did that, and reset my password, I am now able to log in. Sheesh - I wrote it down this time!!!!

Question for anyone who has traveled to WDW during someone's birthday - not trying to start ethical debates here either, I'm just curious. Do you add the "celebration" option to your dining reservation for just the day of the event, or for other meals during that stay? We always travel in December during my youngest daughter's birthday. This year she's turning 6 while we are there. Her actual birthday falls during HS day, and we'll be at 50's prime time. I have already added that it's her birthday to that reservation (for anyone who doesn't know - this means they'll bring out a cupcake or something and sing Happy Birthday).

Anyway, two days later, on our last day, we will be at Chef Mickey's. They do a cute bday celebration there (we were there on her bday last December), but it's two days after the fact. Would you still add it to the reservation? I know I've seen some people on these boards talking about how if it's not the day of their bday, you're doing something wrong.

I would, bbecause these memories will be priceless someday. Chef Mickey's is great for a birthday celebration and I wouldn't pass up the oppurtunity while she is still at that age. Disney views your whole vacation as a celebration, and rightly so. So live it up and let those memories begin!

Being that I have only ever been in Disney for my husbands birthday (the rest of us have summer birthdays) once we celebrated it 3 days after the fact (on arrival day) because of the marathon work week prior, and the other two on his actual day.... However, I don't see anything wrong with celebrating it on an alternate day. Often even on vacations (not in Disney) we celebrate birthdays on a different day, whether its because of an activity, someones schedule or it fits in better - but we never "neglect" the actual birthday. I think also doing it for a child is a little different too...

Agree with SAT887, do what you need to do for your DD. Last year DS5's b-day was 11/11/11 so there were a bunch of weddings we had to pick from, so we threw him a giant party on 11/12. But for a kid, being at Disney, I'd be okay with somebody calling it a weeklong celebration (if they're a well-adjusted, not spoiled child anyways).
This year there are going to be 3 birthdays on our trip, all adults though. We put the notes on the 3 dining reservations, each birthday person got to pick a restaurant for their day and we picked the park based on that. I also put the birthdays notation on our room reservations since DVC asks when you make the reservation if you're celebrating anything and I'm hoping it might give us an edge in our room request? And DCL already knows for mine - it was in the welcome package for our cruise, DH requested Palo for the last night of our cruise which happens to fall on my b-day.
In your case because its a child and one is her actual birthday and the other is her birthday celebration, I'd just go ahead and make the birthday notation on both.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I wasn't thinking it was a big deal either at first ... I just remember reading a few people on other threads get very uppity about trying to get free cupcakes more than once or something. Has nothing to do with that - we are on the dining plan and get more desserts than we know what to do with - it's about making a kid feel special! So thanks for making me feel better about it.

While on the subject of birthdays ...what do you do about your other child(ren)? My kids aren't spoiled, and I never have a problem with one getting jealous when the other gets presents, etc (my girls are 5 and 8), but I have to admit it's seeming unfair. This will be the 3rd year in a row that my youngest has celebrated her birthday at Disney World. It's just the most convenient time of year for us to travel - her birthday is really just a coincidence. I'd like to do something special for my oldest though, who never complains about her sister getting the birthday button and getting all the special birthday wishes through the park (her only complaint came when we let DD pick out her birthday present in downtown disney and she wanted something too ... and of course we got her souvenirs too).

Anyway, I'd love to think of something special to do for her too when we're there. Any ideas?

Could you give her a special day or night where she can choose what to do? What about a mommy and me pedicure at SSR? Or what about an "unbirthday" type day, small gift to open, special dessert or treat in the park, or buy a cupcake somewhere and get a candle and share it at your resort?

I REALLY like the unbirthday idea! Thanks so much!

With CP opening up tomorrow, I was just wondering what everyone was hoping to get...

We are hoping for Dec 19, 815p show...1st choice La Hacienda, 2nd choice Coral Reef, 3rd choice San Angel.

I was hoping for LesChefs for 8:15 show on Dec. 12th but now wondering if I shouldn't try for the 6:45 show

Can't make up my mind. Any thoughts? TIA

I'm hoping for Dec. 13, 8:15 show...1st choice Via Napoli, 2nd choice either Tutto Italia or Coral Reef. I'm hoping I don't need to use that 2nd choice, though!

Really? My oh my .... I wont comment any further on that  :p

We are going 12/7 - 12/13. It is my parents 42nd wedding anniversary :goodvibes

My parents are so *together*, they have been together through the good and the bad and there have been some very difficult times and yet their togetherness, companionship & love is so strong that you darn right that I have noted 'Anniversary' on EVERY reservation. Their anniversary is only one day but I want to make a fuss of them every day - they deserve it!! And what better place to do it than in Disney :goodvibes

I just tonight decided to try for the 8:15 show on Dec 1 @ Tutto Italia or Via Napoli. I was going to try for the 6:45 show and may still depending on what I can get for the 8:15

I may try Dec 2 as we will be at Epcot that day too, I just would rather see Whoopie than a "mystery" narrator

We are doing the 815 show (hopefully). I chose that one b/c of the dining time being between 5-6.

Good luck tomorrow!

I know what you mean...I am hoping we dont have to use our 2nd choice either. If we do, then I will have to rearrange some ADRs to hopefully dine at our 1st choice some other night.

Good luck tomorrow!

We have a "mystery" narrarator listed too for our date. I think Whoopie would be pretty neat to see.

Good luck tomorrow!

Good morning, east coast...

Good afternoon, Euro's...

Good evening, west coast...

I know I can't be the only maniac here right now, can I?

Ok! I got all the phones at my disposal primed for me to hit re-dial. I have my coffee(s) and donuts within arms reach. Have already made my bathroom visits...

I'm ready.

Nothing to do but watch the clock tick away the minutes.

morning! :lmao:

Fingers crossed the online booking works this morning...Otherwise I've got to bolt right out the door in order to make it to work by 7 a.m. to pick up that phone!

Hoping for San Angel Dec 15. Either middle or last show.
