December 2012 Code Watch

Wow!
Sounds like we are in the exact same situation!
This date is sticking though!
And it looks like we will be there at the same time!
(we are scheduled the 9th-14th, staying at the Poly)

:)

We'll be at the Poly same dates...see you there!

:)
If you end up on the beach for the fireworks, just listen for "Emily Nicole!!!!" and that will be us!
My 4 year old little princess who is usually an unusually good child seems to lose all of her senses when it comes to watching the fireworks and water parade...

I can't count the number of times I said "Emily Nicole....are you listening to me?!?!?"
Of course it doesn't help that we had early reservations and she isn't a napper, so she was in a daze every night for the big show! LOL!

Hoping for great weather again!

We really lucked out last year with 75-80* weather all week with only one day that it rained for about an hour while we were inside eating an early dinner.

Of course the time we went before that, about 10 years ago, it was in the 40's-50's all week and finally hit 70 the day we left! LOL!

:)

Joining up and subscribing!! We just got back from 6 days at pop and now wanting to plan for a Christmas trip!! Hoping for FD to open up for the last week of Nov or 1st week of Dec!! I am sure Disney is beautiful at Christmas!! Just called to see if I had a pin and the answer was no. :( Can not seem to win at the pin lottery.

We book our trip today, December 5-12. We're booked with a room only right now and my travel agent will be keeping an eye our for any discounts since we're needing the dining plan plus APs.

Can I just make a small suggestion? You are already within the 180 day ADR window to make your ADRs. You can add the dining plan to your reservation right now (which can always be cancelled at a later date before your balance is due!) so you can make your ADRs as soon as possible. If you wait for discounts to come out to make your ADRs you may not be able to get a lot ot restaurants and times that you would like. Discounts can always be uplied at a later date when/if they do come out. Worst case scenario if no discounts come out, you can always cancel ADRs.

I am in a similar situation. We are booked for Dec 13-27 with a Dining Plan now and two days ago I was able to make my ADRs. Now I am hoping and waiting on Free Dining. Whenever it is offered, we will get it applied to our reservation. If not, then I will cancel some of my ADRs. I just did not want to be in a situation where I waited until Free Dining is offered and then it is too late to get any good ADRs.

I really hope I am making sense!

You actually get the 180+10 even with a room only reservation. All you miss out on without the dining plan is the ability to avoid prepaying for meals that require full upfront payment.

You dont need to add the dining plan just to make your ads. We are booked at PORS in a princess room for 12-8 thru 12-15. I have made all our adrs but havent added the dining plan. Im hoping for free dining, but we will add the dining plan regardless of whether its free or not. I have until 3 days prior to check in to add the dining plan but im sure i will just add it to our res at my 45 day mark.

Sorry, you are correct! :) That IS one of the points I was trying to make, lol and the reason why I added the dining plan just in case. Also the way the post was written made me assume that they were waiting for discounts to come out before booking the dining plan and I was just trying to get across that it can be added in the beginning and then any additional discount that turns up can be added after that. I guess that made me think that they were also waiting to make their ADRs until the found a discount...hmm...can I just say that English IS my second language and sometimes I get confused?:confused3

I just received a duplicate PIN code via snail mail over the weekend, duplicating the email PIN code I got a couple weeks ago, which offered the free DDP for select dates. The last period covered by this offer is "12/10 - 12/13". So if you are fortunate enough to get a pin code or if a GP offering opens up for the same dates you should score big with free dining for your entire trip as your check in date is the last date available under the current pin code offer.

Wishing you good luck.

Do you have a list of ALL the fall dates for FD or room discount? We are planning a trip right now for 11/8-18 but have some flexability there.

I am booked for the exact same dates and did the exact same thing. Sadly will have to cancel one week if not both if free dining does not come my way like it did for so many other lucky ones...:sad2:

Which would save a person more money at a moderate? 30% off room rate or free dining? I can easily figure out the free dining, that's easy to do. But 30% off room rate? I don't know how to figure that out.

Right now we are booked at CBR (POTC room) 11/29-12/8 with the DDP and a 6 day base ticket. I don't have a free dining pin code (at least not yet). But I have figured it out to be a savings of about $1300 to almost $1400 if we either get the pin code or a general public offer.

When I called Disney last week, I found that I do have a pin code for a room discount (might be 30%, not sure) for our dates that will expire on the 23rd. I have no idea how to figure out how much we would save with the room discount in order to compare it with FD.

Btw, in one of my previous posts regarding finally getting a pin code, I was told by the CM that it's not uncommon to have pin codes back to back. So I'm still hoping for that FD :)

Thanks!

I think free dining, if you can get it, would be your best bet.

Booking a package I believe is a mere convenience, not an actual savings. When you book a MYW package with room, DDP and base tickets, I'm pretty sure it prices out the same as if you would have purchased all the components "ala carte". So figuring out your room discount isn't too difficult. I'm guessing that your room rates for that period would be on average about $200 a night which would mean that you'd save about $60 +/- per night with a 30% off pin code. If I read it right you are looking at 3 adults on the DDP which would be a cost of nearly $180 per day (again going by memory). Throwing out the all the arguments on whether the DDP is a good deal, whether you really need all the food etc., purely based on $$$ savings, the free DDP would be a no brainer.

I think you can do this, it might make sense to rebook the package using your 30% pin code, then if free dining is released to GP or you do snag a pin code for free dining, then make the change.

I received a free dining pin code via email 2-3 weeks back. Coming back from vacation over the weekend I had a weeks worth of mail, including to post card pin codes, one of which was a duplicate for the free dining. November 29th is the last day its available and then its blocked out until 12/10, but your check in date would qualify you for the free DDP.

I hope you get what you need!

I just got the FD pin code in the mail! For those wondering the CHECK IN dates are:

9/30-10/4
10/19-11/1
11/9-11/15
11/23-11/29
12/10-12/13

Disney must know I really want to visit, but I am having a hard time deciding if I should spend the money. This just might make me do it :thumbsup2

I got the same pin code via snail mail postcard as well (well - large tri-fold postcard anyway). I went back and checked my email pin code from 5/23 and its the exact same offer and dates. The offer definitely took us from "maybe" status to definitely.

We must have plenty of pixie dust. Wish I could spread it around.
Just received an e-mail (yet again in Hubby's spam) for free dining. Funny thing is we have already booked our stay with free dining via an e-mail he received (in the same email address) a month or so ago. They are obviously trying to bulk up their numbers. Hope they make it public for everyone.

I can totally understand how you feel:sad1: I'm totally banking on getting FD (I just hope that I'm not setting myself up for disappointment:confused3:confused3), which is why I booked it for the 13th as well. If free dining is not offered or I don't even get a room discount, we may have to cancel as well:sad2:

Free dining is turning out to be the best discount if we can get it (still hoping for some of that pixiedust: for a general public offer or a pin code). We currently have a 10% room discount pin code that expires on the 23rd. However, I don't want to use any other discount or pin codes b/c if free dining does come out we will need to re-book. Once that happens we will have to book with the current ticket increase instead.

I'll give Disney a call back on Sunday, the 24th to see if we have another pin code.

good advice here.... whether or not a special comes out,we are booked, including dining! I won't keep it all he same unless my hoped for deals appear, but it feels WONDERFUL knowing the planning is rolling! I can always pare things down if needed at a later date.......and still have a blast!

I forgot about those pesky price increases to tickets. We booked our package about 4 weeks back without realizing we also bought protection against the price hikes. 10% probably isn't worth it. I haven't booked AAA in a long time, but they used to offer 20% room discounts during your time period for moderates, if you could find available rooms.

The current pin code fine print has the "book by date" for free dining as July 28, which would tend to support that any GP offerings wouldn't be made until after that date, which is consistent with the last couple years GP offering dates of late July early August.

Speaking of current pin codes, I saw a card from Disney Destinations in our mail today. I was so hoping it was for free dining. It wasn't and was for the 10% of the room rate. Here's where I had to laugh, it says inside to book by June 17th yet I only received it today . When I called Disney I was told that this offer is for the one that expires on June 23.
