Apologies if someone already asked this - If Free Dining comes out first and we get that, but then the Room Discount comes out later on (as it has in the past few years), can we switch? Or would I need to cancel my reservation and re-book? Room discount just works out so much better for us - although I'll take either!

I got a stay/play/dine pin for Dec that comes with free QS which I upgraded to Regular dining (It works out at $100 per person for 6nights/7 days) but if free dining comes out, even better as there are 5 of us (I'm paying for my parents to go) so that will be $500 back in my pocket

could you tell us what dates are included in that pin offer that you got? It could be an indicative of what to expect around that period.

12/1/12 - 12/20/12 ... its the dates I was playing around with online. The first mailing was for September dates because thats when we were originally going to go and I had priced for September online, we then changed and I repriced for December so the follow up mailing had the new dates on.

We're planning an early December trip and planning (for now, lol) to stay at POR. My husband is on a special project at work, and it's supposed to be done by then. I hope we don't have to wait! We went in Jan of 2010 and got 4/3 room deal. I know we probalby won't get anything that great, but I do get pin codes fairly frequently, so I'm hoping for something good!

ohhhh how I would love to see a December code. Our last number of trips to WDW have all had free dining so it would bring a tear to my eye to start paying for it now!

We often get PIN emails but nothing that went past this summer, so far......... here's hoping !!

I just got a PIN in the mail for 30% off selected rooms OR free dining....but the dates are8/25-9/29/12

Still hoping for free-dining for our Dec 8-15th trip!

I was SO excited. I finally got email from Disney Destinations and was just SURE I had gotten my first EVER pin. I was ready to resign as president of the "no pin" club.

But alas....... it was just a general public advertisement of the regular free dining currently being offered for Aug/Sept. Sigh.........

Oh well, back to my post as president of the "no pin" club.

Wow, my first post on the DIS Boards.

We are thinking of a December 2012 trip which is what brought me to this particular topic.

To your question, I think the answer is yes. The dining plan is an add on, it isn't your actual room reservation, so I would think logically if you book a room at full rack rate with free dining, then a room discount comes out later, that you would simply switch to the room discount. The only caveat might be is that they often say "only so many rooms available" so it would be possible that your room would not qualify under the offer. You can't stack discounts, but I wouldn't forsee major issues with switching.

There is another Board that I frequent and I've yet to see any discussions on December pin codes or any type of discounts yet for that period. I generally get pin codes via snail mail and email and I've yet to see one that goes past September.

Thanks Hitchhiking Ghost! I was thinking the same thing - luckily I'm not picky about room type so that might work out for us to book which ever discount comes out and take it from there.

Not long after adding my last post to this thread I saw a email from Disney in my inbox.

Unfortunately it was the same public offer for 30% resorts from now until June 14. Booo.

However, I did take this a sign as it must be time to book our December trip

I've always worried that booking a trip will make it less likely that I'll get a pin. I'll book anyway when it's time for ADR's. It's not like being careful like that has actually GOTTEN me a Pin either.

At this price my parents & some friends of ours may want to join us so I'd need 3 rooms. Now off to do some planning!

I don't think so. When I was on the December 2011 Codewatch thread (our original dates before being postponed) there were DISers that already booked their dates and they still got the pin codes. Some even called and took advantage of their discounts and others even switched to the code that had the better offer. I even called and checked to find out if the discounts can be applied after a trip is already booked and was told yes.

We will be booking our trip by May so that we lock in the current prices. It's going to be hard for me to wait till August to find out about any possible free dining offers for November/December.

think this is one a lot of people are getting.. i tried to just price out a room only with POR and it cam up with NO ROOMS LEFT .. but if I do a package it is fine

It keeps giving me the AoA as a choice but rumour i have seen on these boards is that AoA has not been included in the promos, since people will want to stay there so they dont have to worry about filling rooms..
