December 2011 - Christmas with Mickey!! Who's Coming Along and Planning Help Thread!!

If anybody finds some good airfare for Christmas week, please post!

I am getting discouraged b/c from what I remember 2 years ago, the prices kept going up through the summer and fall for the xmas flights. I kept checking b/c I was so happy about my deal!
I am hoping they have a sale this year b/c maybe people will not be willing to pay what they are asking and they need to fill the plane.

We'll be there 12/10-12/18. I haven't been since 1976 . . . does that even count?!? Hubby and kiddos (will be 40, 9 & 6) have NEVER been! DH will celebrate his 40th birthday while we are there and our plan is to surprise the kids on the way to the airport. We are staying in 2 rooms at All Star Movies for the full "theme" experience and are very excited!

So I have a question - I would like to purchase MVMCP tix in advance. Are these tix only available through the official ticket website or are there reputable discounted ticket options that I should research as well? Thanks for any guidance - I don't know what I don't know!

What do you think is the best restaurant for CP dinner? What makes you choose the one you are suggesting? Ate once at Nine Dragons--- unbelievably poor service, mediocre food and WAY overpriced. Although lots of people complain about Coral Reef, our experience there was ok, but we want a really special place to eat dinner and then go to CP on Christmas Eve or Day. Ideas?

Please add us for 12/25-12/31. DH and I just got a free trip (his airfare, our hotel and his meals will be paid for!) because his soccer team is competing in the Soccer College Showcase from 12/27-12/30, but flights are less so far leaving Christmas Day and returning on NYE. Yay!!!!

So excited for our holiday trip. We will be at GF from Nov 27th to Dec 3RD.

Anyone know if decorations will already be up by then or will they still be putting them up?

And does anyone know if you have to go to a specific showtime when you book CP? Say your booking lunch do you have to go to the earlier show to get guaranteed seating?

thanks for any help you could give us:thumbsup2

Hope everything is OK with your grandmother! :flower3:

This is going to be our first time at WDW during Christmas week (I'm a little scared, LOL!). We are staying offsite in Celebration (Baymont) from 12/24 - 12/28/11.

Thank you. We actually had 2 grandmothers in the hospital. One was able to go home. The other is still there. She is 92 and has had a long life. I am praying for her comfort.

The best thing to do is to download something like Ding and the American Alert. Enter the max airfare you will pay and you will receive a notification on your computer when the price drops to what you would like to pay.

Will you be on the dining plan or paying out of pocket? Does your family have "sophisticated palates" or do you prefer more basic meals?

Are you staying at a Disney resort? Which one? :confused3

I'm sorry, we're not sure yet, just found out about the trip tonight. The only one they offer on Disney property is All Star Sports. If we get that, I hope, and extend our trip we'll do a split stay with CSR. Thanks!

Has anyone bought airfare yet for Christmas or are you waiting?
I booked my airfare from newark for december (not christmas, but early dec) when the prices kept going up. I booked for fear of it going high. Paid $230 pp, I think. It went up a little then weeks later it dropped to $180 and has held steady there. Grrrrr.

I am not sure the best restaurant, but I will tell you we chose Biergarten because I have been reading about the festive atmosphere and that kids of all ages love it (we will have a 16 and an 18 year old - both girls). I do not think we will particularly like the food, but we are looking forward to the oom-pa band and the Christmas decorations and music. It's just a bonus that we could do it with the CP package - all works out.

Other than that, I love Teppan Edo, but if you have a hibachi/teppanyaki restaurant close to home, I didn't find it much different from our Tokyo Steakhouse or Benihana. Except they didn't do anything with fire or smoke, which disappointed me.

For what it's worth, we tried LeCellier last year and felt it was over-rated and not worth all the hype. I think it's so hard to get a reservation there just because everyone is always talking about it. I found the food better at California Grill, Jiko and bluezoo.

And Rose & Crown has a great atmosphere!

When the IPO put in our requests, they told us that our 5:30pm requested dining time will most likely mean the 8:15pm show, based on the assignments made last year. That makes me assume that they assign you to a certain show based on your dining time.
