December 2009

While lurking around the trip reports board, I somehow stumbled, tripped, then fell into your TRs. :goodvibes I found this one first, but I decided to go back and read all of them. I am halfway through the cruise one, but I had to stop and say how much I love your trip reports! Your writing is terribly clever, and I enjoy all the photos. Especially ones with AG in them.
I grew up on AG and loved the historical books. I was only able to save up money for one doll and some accessories, but I love Kristen and she is doing fine. You've inspired me to take one of my giraffes (i love giraffes, and I have too many stuffed versions of them) to Disney with me when I go in March. :)
AND I'm currently learning to sew (I actually have a lesson/craft party tonight) and I was mesmerized by the dresses you made for your dolls! Very spiffy! :thumbsup2
ANDDD I know how much you love Jane Austen, and I do as well (So much that I reallllly want to name one of my daughters, whenever I have one, Jane Austen *Insert Last Name* haha). Since I know you like writing in journals, I had to let you know about a journal I have, that I absolutely adore. It is a Jane Austen journal, and it has quotes from her books scattered through the pages.

I just had to share that with you. :goodvibes Have you ever seen, "Lost in Austen" ? Did you enjoy it? Also, have you read "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" or "Sense and Sensibility and Seamonsters"? I read the second and it was hysterical. If you haven't already, you should check them out. And you should check out "North and South" or "Wives and Daughters" by Elizabeth Glaskell, if you haven't. I really enjoyed those as well.

Okay, this is long enough, I think I'm done. I'm going to go hush up and finish reading your other trip report!

Have a great day!

Great update, thanks! :)

The food hall at M&S is amazing! I only got to look around and buy a little bit, but I would love to go back when my kids are older. (I'm training them to live to eat :rolleyes1 )

Oh Emma, how absolutely magical that your B&B was the one with the twinkling lights. Such a cute tree in the entry too. I loved the pictures from your ferry over to Wales, too bad it was such a chilly windy day. And MIA, can't wait to see where she turns up in your pictures. How sweet of your Mom to bring her along for the holiday trip.

haha yer that language is Welsh, it's odd isn't it, it's even weirder to hear someone speak it, there are so many syllables in it!! I absolutely love the fact you find our food odd, especially our crisps, a while back we had fish and chip flavoured ones and the lesser known flavour of 'cajun squirrel', as well as chocolate and chilli and tomato ketchup! haha
I love your B&B, it looks so typically English :) :thumbsup2

I love how all of your photos makes us feel like we are actually there with you! I can't wait to hear about your London shopping spree! I didn't have enough time to visit all the places I had heard about when I visited. I love the street shot of your B&B!

Twinkly lights are always a good sign!!

You're all snug and cozy in your B&B... now... bring on the shopping!! :yay:

Welcome! Yay for another Jane Austen&AG fan! :thumbsup2 I'm so glad you've been enjoying the TRs! I love trip mascots! Love that notebook -- lol, I have one that's really similar only it's an address book! :rolleyes1 BTW, is that a Disney princess blanket in the background? Love it! :thumbsup2

I have seen bits of Lost in Austen on youtube. I should try to rent it, it looks good! Haven't read the zombies or the sea monsters. lol, I did once pick up the zombie one in a book store and was surprised to find a lot of the text was lifted word for word. I'll try to check them out! And I JUST finished reading North and South and loved it! Have you seen the movie? That last scene in the train station -oh! SOO good!! I've seen Wives and Daughters but haven't read it. :goodvibes

Yup that is a Disney Princess blanket! Pretty much the only thing of my disney princess stuff that is out in my room at home. My room in college was decked out in disney princess figurines and pictures and other things, but since I came home after graduated, everything hasn't found it's place (except for the bedspread). And that was in may.... :rolleyes1

Yeah the Sea Monsters and Zombie books are the originaly Jane Austen text, the world the characters live in is changed a little to resemble people who fight zombies or monsters. Its actually quite hysterical. One minute Marianne is running through a field, and the next she is being attacked by an Octopus. It's really simplified reading as well.

I LOVE North and South with Richard Armtrige in it. That scene was so good!!!! I'm pretty sure my heart stopped beating for a little bit. And I've seen Wives and Daughters as well, although I was hoping for a kiss at the end. I felt kind of cheated, haha. I went through all this with Molly and we get no kiss??? And I discovered that the book wasn't finished by Elizabeth Glaskwell, because she passed away. I didn't realize this because I had read the book long before I saw the mini-series, so everything seemed good to me. I'm not sure at what point the movie added scenes though.....

Haha, I'm almost afraid to finish reading all of Jane Austen's books, because they are so good.

OH and do watch Lost In Austen! It is really good. I don't know if you put yourself in Elizabeth Bennet's place (or any of Austen's heroines for that matter), but this mini-series shows exactly how it might feel to do that. Granted it gets a little weird and she does some major Faux pas, but it is still good none the less. :goodvibes

Love your update, Emma! That picture of the hill with the sheep on it is so peaceful. I am looking forward to the next installment of your adventure!

More Pleasepopcorn::
I cannot wait to hear about the London Shopping. You B&B looked like a dream. Everything looked so perfect! It looks like you are starting your TR off to a great start!

Oh wow, I never knew these existed in other countries than Germany! I used to love them as a child, they are called "surprise eggs" here which is certainly also fitting :)

Mmmh, that chocolate mousse dessert looks seriously yummy! Which I could have some of that right now! (Bad me, I shouldn't even be sitting in front of the computer but working out at the treadmill, and here I am being lazy and craving sweets instead :sad2:)

I'm looking forward to your next update already!

Oh yay! I'm so glad that your mom brought Mia; I can't wait to see more pictures. I'm vicariously living through you since I've always wanted an American Girl doll (specifically Molly when they only had those 5 historical ones at first). It was too crowded in NYC when I went a few weeks ago, but eventually I want to check out the AG Place!

BTW, I love your LLBean bag!

Wow, Emma! I've never been to any of these places. I'm really enjoying your pictures and great descriptions. Keep up the good work! :)

Just found your TR and I absolutely love it! Thanks for taking me on a whirlwind tour from Dublin to Wales to London. What a lovely, interesting read. You also have some nice photography skills. You've got some beautiful pictures. Looking forward to reading more!

Great update! Sounds like your Mom did a great job planning your travels! It went so smoothly! Can't wait to hear more! I did miss your pre trip shopping! LOL
