I know, it's a little early to start thinking about it (especially for my husband, who thinks I'm a Disney nut-which is true), but when is the best week to go in December? Is there even a best week to go in December? I know the parks can be packed at certain times, with the holidays and the kids on break from school.
I remember going with my folks in December way back when, but can't recall the crowd levels.

I would say second week, or maybe the third. We were there from 28 November to 26 December and at times during those weeks crowds were really minimal.

There are a lot of things I can let slide, but saying that Christmas Day (and surrounding) has "really minimal crowds" ain't one of them. ;)

The FIRST week in Dec. is traditionally the start of a "low crowds" time at WDW (we'll leave out "Pop Warner" in this discussion.)
The crowds start to build around Dec. 15 and get seriously heavy over the next 10 days to a peak at Christmas that holds pretty strong until Jan. 1.

Everything is relative, and opinions on "crowds" can vary, but Christmas and surrounding days are traditionally some of the busiest times of the year at WDW.

I didn't say that Christmas Day had minimal crowds. I said that the second week and possibly third weeks were good. We were there for the entire time but those weeks were particularly good crowd wise.

Just wanted to add that apart from the first Saturday in MK (filming Christmas parade) we didn't really notice a huge build up of crowd until about 21-22 December which was the first weekend before Christmas. By Christmas Eve, it was unbearable.

Then we are saying very close to the same thing. :thumbsup2

Although I'd pick week-1 over week-3 for less congestion.

Whole current thread where this is the topic.

I might change my mind by the time December, 2009 gets here, but my tentative thinking has me taking my annual solo Holiday Season trip to WDW during the second week of December (6th thru 12th). Experience has shown that to be a very good time to visit The Mouse. (I had to plan my trip this year for November because of other obligations.)

We are looking at going in 2009 as well, Dec 4-12 or 11-19. :thumbsup2 Leaning twords the earlier date and hoping for the best w/ Pop Warner. I fear the end of the later date is getting a little too close to xmas. We need to plan over 2 weekends so my DD's don't miss more than 5 days of school. Im anxious for the 1 year mark so we can see what this year has in store for those weeks!:goodvibes

we're going next year, too! from november 29th-december 8th, and have been told this is a really slow time of the year...hoping it's true!
