December 2009 Code Watch

DH & I have promised ourselves that we are going to WDW in Dec 09 or else! We went in Dec 05 & 06 (when he proposed @ Epcot!), and missed it terribly the past two years. We were going to go in 07, but canceled because of our wedding the following month. Then 08 was, well 08, lol. After Christmas this year, DH said to me "Whatever it takes, we're going in 09!" We simply love the decorations and the spirit of it all. In DH's words "it just doesn't feel like the holidays without the Disney." awww

We're looking at 12/5-12/12, but might change it if a code comes along. Since we didn't go for two years, we want to add a few days and hopefully upgrade from a mod to a deluxe. We're thinking BC or BWI. I don't have it booked yet, but we're saving up for it already. I might book it soon and just hope for a code to come out.

I want to know why you all got the code for 40% and I only got one for 20% :( I want 40 too.

Signing up to hear about codes and offers for Dec... considering Thanksgiving or Xmas 09! Hope to hear more good news on this thread! :)

I booked a Epcot Fireworks View with Balcony at the Dolphin using a AAA rate for $254 a night.

My sister is a big Starwoods member and will be joining us using points otherwise I might have stayed just to break it up a bit. This will be our 4 time at the Dolphin and we love it.

Pop Warner is a football/cheerleader tournament that doesn't effect the parks a lot. It shouldn't affect you at all, as it ends on the 13th this year. (We are possibly heading there the same week.)

Yes, go later. The football/cheerleader event in 2008 seemed to impact crowds / hotels for us (we visited Dec. 6-13). (We were there the previous year (2007 Dec. 15-22nd)a week later and had no problems. We had no idea that the event was happening...or I would have changed the dates!) The noise at the All Stars made us determine to NOT EVER go when the Cheerleaders/Football players go. In addition, we stayed outside WDW for some of our trip (3 bedroom condo)...and wouldn't you know...had the cheerleaders/football players book the condos all around us. We were an itty bitty island of a family with toddlers surrounded by groups of loud adults. Don't get me wrong, the kids at the condos were not so bad...the adults, on the other hand, who were supposed to be watching the kids, were sitting out in a large group drinking from 7:00 on...carrying on and keeping others awake. Soooo, does the event (for certain) end the 13th in 2009??? Thanks.

I think so...google Pop Warner Football 2009 and they will have the complete scheduleon their website. (exact schedule may not be out yet, but general dates should be) I'm considering moving up or back a week...right now we have WL the 5th-8th. I know we will be fine at WL, I'm just a little concerned about the parks.

We were at WDW last year during Pop Warner. We stayed at the GF so we only saw them in the parks. It wasn't too bad. They usually travel in small groups with their parents.

We did make the mistake of getting on HM with a group of cheerleaders one night- never, never again!! It was like a screaming competion. Later in the trip we saw a whole football team (and their parents) heading for SSE and we decided to wait on that ride after the cheerleader incident.

You may see a few groups during the day, but usually just at night. They are at their tournament during the day.

It really wasn't that bad at all. But I did talk to some folks who were staying at POR and the ALL Stars who said it was a big deal over there. I would stay away from their resorts and it should be OK. The rest of the crowds were great!!

We were at WDW during Pop Warner week 2007. We stayed Sun-Sat. We were at FW so we only saw them at the parks. Did not even notice until Friday afternoon in Epcot. Most were with an adult and very well behaved. Many middle schoolers were on their own and running amuck. We were a bit bothered but this was our last afternoon in a park and we had enjoyed light crowds for almost the whole week. I wouldn't let pop warner keep you away from WDW unless you are staying at a value then I might reconsider.

Hoping for a code!! Staying at CBR December 5th-12th (that's right, during the dreaded Pop Warner week!! :scared1: ) But that is the only week in December that we can go. We have been in December before and loved it, so we are going to take our chances. We usually stay at a value, but have picked CBR because I have always wanted to stay there and because Pop Warner kids invade the values.

We went in November last year, and the public code that was available saved us almost $400!!

Just how bad are the crowds during pop warner week?

I found at the value resorts there are a LOT of people but when we got to the parks not so much. mostly because the kids are playing football buring the day. as the week went on and more teams were eliminated there were more kids at the park

Those are the exact same dates for our Grand GAthering - but we will be at the All Star family suite. I am preparing myself for the crowds but not too worried. Last two times I have gone have been July and August.
I've heard that this particular week typically doesn't offer any codes. What has been your experience? We are already prepared for the cost without one - but a code (or free dining) would nto be frowned upon! :rotfl:

We're going over the Christmas break. It may be too much to ask after actually getting the discount over this past break, but we're hoping for another discount for Christmas 09!:)

We got a code when we went that week in 2007. After I did the math it ended up saving us 20%. We also got a nice code last year (don't remember what it was exaclly but it would have saved us 700.00) but we could not use it. I am pretty optimistic that there will be something for that week just not sure what. I also made sure that I can afford the trip w/o the code so if/when we get one it will be a very nice surprise.

December here too (after my May trip...hee hee) - Wilderness Lodge (Dec. 5-9) in courtyard view for $188/night and then changing to Poly garden view (Dec. 9-14) for $205/night. We booked through a TA that is having a special. I feel bad for complaining about the winter weather when we're already planning for December - nothing like rushing the year by just to get to Disney again!

I'm in!! We are going December 5-12th...although I am a little worried about that after hearing about the Pop Warner thing and the lack of discounts during that week. Has it been super crowded during Pop Warner outside of the value hotels? Also, has anyone had a problem getting some kind of discount during that week in past years?? We are crossing our fingers.....
