December 2008 waitlist

I have Dec 3-8 booked at VWL in a 2 bedroom, but we decided to go the night of Dec 2 instead of the morning of Dec 3. I have a value studio at AKV for now and waitlisted for a one bedroom for just the night of Dec. 2. I think I have a good chance of getting it only because Kidani should open by then (I hope.)

I waitlisted last year for a concierge night at AKV in December and it never came through. December is tough.

edit: I got the one bedroom at AKV, savanna view. Now I"m waitlisted to change that to a two bedroom since we seem to keep adding people to our trip...

I just bought into BWV and hope to close and have my points in the system just prior to the 7 month window opening up. Any chance I will be able to get a studio for early December? Anybody waitlisted for a studio at BWV for early December or are there still some studios available?

I'm hoping to snag a reservation before the 7 month window opens up.

I'm on the waitlist for a 2 bed Savannah view for Dec 7-10. I am currently holding onto a 1 bed concierge for two nights and a 2 bed conc for one night all at AKV. So if I get my dates then ther is 4 con rooms that will got to someone on the waitlist. If kidani get done early then I will get my waitlist and someone else will get their concierge rooms.

Wow, if it's sold out during home reservation period, I wonder what my chances are of getting a week in during open season. I booked at my home resort, but thought about switching over to VWL (never stayed there before). Still, I might give it a try, but won't be too hopeful.

BTW, anyone know if I allow day by day wait list, could I end up having to move back and forth (say I only get days 2 and 4 out of a week - could mean 4 moves!?!), or will they only do it from one end or the other limiting it down to one move?

I've wondered if the waitlist system is smart enough to recognize a swap. For example, someone holds 1 BR concierge and is wait listed for 2 BR savanah (none available). Another member is holding a 2BR savanah and wants a 1 BR concierge (none available), but if they swap, they'll both be happy. It gets far more complicated if you consider 3 or more folks doing this type of swap, but even though nothing is available, juggling around reservations makes everyone happier. Without a large sampling and some visibility into their system, it's impossible to tell if such situations are optimized, but I doubt they're doing so, and would be very impressed if they actually included that in their system.

This will be a first for us, never been the the world over xmas break....we typically stay over the Fourth of July Holiday. It sounds like that week can be even crazier, so I'm hoping for some pixie dust.
