December 2008 Code Watch

Does anyone remember the prices for values and moderates for early Dec. code rates? I tried researching but couldn't get any info.

You know, I can't remember the discount rate except to tell you this: DH & I got 7 nites at POR (moderate) plus 5 day PH Passes and the DDP for $1800, and it would have originally been almost $2400.

HI,

one step of advice is to also make sure you have the park hopping option on your tickets, especially when you are staying for a wonderful 10 days. You will then be able to go to multiple parks in a day, like Mk in the morning and maybe epcot in the afternoon after some rest if needed. You will be so glad you added that.

I know I called for the "code" back in Jan for December and I think I remember them saying that the code was good starting Dec 7th-14th. We were going to go Dec 6-13th originally and had to change our travel dates.

I just called Disney reservations and asked if there were any promotional codes associated with my name and sure enough it was there. THere is a post above that gives better advice on what to say, you may want to try that. I also know that when I called AAA they gaveme a very good price too, so if I did not get the 40% code, I would have booked thru them.

Another tip is to try to do one of the frig swaps especially since you have along stay. Most are free, and the last time we were there, staying at ASMu, we did one and we were glad we did. Great for left overs, chilling water. keeping milk and yogurt in the room for snacks etc... Look here on the boards and find out all about it.

Pick a night to go to MVMCP! well worth the money! Even with small kids.

We also love the candlelight processional at Epcot and Osbourne lights at DHS. All awesome Christmas things to do and see.

So much information...........keep asking questions!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!:santa:

Thanks so much for all that needed advice!!! I'm planning like crazy til my trip!!!

Is it wise to start calling for late Nov/Dec pins August 1st? Or can you start calling earlier? I booked my trip December of last year if that makes any difference, booked through Disney.....

We're going 11/30-12/10, staying at POFQ, Dining Plan, 10 day MYW Base Package.

This thread has been so helpful about discounts and whatnot, I'm glad I discovered it! :thumbsup2

Here is "wishing" everyone a Great Disney December discount. I think December is one of the best times to go. Looking forward to trip planning and trip reports.

Do you have Disney Visa? There's normally a discount code for Dec. that comes out in August, and if you have a DV, you'll get about a 3-day advance notice before the public. If you book thru AAA, you can change your ressie to the better discount if one is offered.

I have a room only booked through AAA now but am in hopes of Disney issuing a good package discount in August which is what happened last year.

Not always true, AP rates have sometimes come out first.

Suzanne

I guess I'm now a December code watcher (although I know it comes at the same time as the November code) since I switched my ressies from the week of Thanksgiving to the first week of December. Now we will be there for DH's birthday!!! i love going this time of year because of the crowds and the decorations!

Hi everyone!

I like all of you are hoping for a December PIN. pixiedust:
I have a date question...I have noticed that Disney has been offering a few codes up to and through 12/13. My question is can anyone remember in the past if the codes offered in August have gone through the end of the value season (which would end this year on 12/19)? I ask because we currently are holding ressies for 12/14-12/19 at AKL and would think about bumping it back for a good code.

Thanks for all your help!!!:thanks:

I've noticed some complaints about limited ability to book rooms in the 1st two weeks of December, what do ya'll think this will mean for Dec codes? If the place is pretty well booked, I can't imagine there will be much need for WDW to give us all a break.....but I hope I'm wrong.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I was wondering this also. :)

We booked our 2nd week Dec back in spring and we tried to add days back in Late May or early June but there was no package availablity. So i highly dout that codes would be a good value during that time :confused3
We are thinking about going earlier in the fall instead?

Another Dec '08 code-watcher. Clearly I have a "DIS-ease" as I'm going in October of this year and now want to go for December to see the holiday decorations too!

I am hoping for a good code. We are currently staying at ASMo on a AAA discount 12/10 to 12-19 in two rooms.

Places that I can only dream about booking right now, but that would be a better fit......

The Poly, GF, Contemporary, OKW studio, or SSR in a 1 bedroom. My personal dream would be to be able to afford two rooms at the Poly, but that's just not going to happen. :rotfl: If my MIL was picking, she would choose 2 rooms at the GF. Most of this trip is going to be about creating great memories for Corey and her mom. I am just the planner along for the ride.

Hi December folks!

We're headed to POFQ Dec 8-14th and are keeping our fingers crossed for a nice code. I called Disney a few weeks ago to ask if a "code" was associated with my name, but to no avail. I'll need to call again asking if any "direct marketing discoounts" are attached to my name. It's worth a try...thanks for the tip!

I tried the "direct marketing" approach but still nothing. I'm waiting for the "usual" August discount announcement for December but, like you said, if everything's booked it wouldn't make much business sense for Disney to put out a discount code. I actually called today to see about adding a room to my Dec. ressie at the Pop, and the CM told me all value resorts are booked for the 2nd week of Dec., and the only mod resort with availability was CSR. I even wonder how much longer that they'll keep pricing that time as a value season.

WOW!!! :scared1: We'll be there that week and it sounds like it's going to be quite busy. Wonder what the chances of Disney keeping the parks, especially MK and DHS, open longer hours will be if the crowds are going to be this high? I booked with a AAA discount back in March. If the values and moderates are booked solid, I wouldn't count on seeing a discount on them this year. :sad2:

Hey folks! I'm a "hardly ever poster"...girl.

For the last 12 years, my family has gone to Disney World during the 2nd week of December. When we first started going, the parks were practically empty...now it seems the secret is out! Over the years, the parks have become increasingly more crowded during this time. Not bad...but the wait times for rides have increased from 10 minutes to 20 -30 minutes. Now you guys have got me worried! If the properties are booking up in May and June, I would certainly expect Disney to start reconsidering what date to end value season. YIKES!

Thanks for all the postings...they are a world of help.

We are booked at the WL from Dec 7-14th. I have been playing around with availability at other resorts and have come up with nothing:eek: for the 7-14th, but the week of Christmas all resorts were available. Now I'm regretting taking my boys out of school when I'm not even avoiding crowds:confused3

All of the values are booked up that week because of Pop Warner. The teams and their families traditionally stay at the Values, POFQ and POR. The first mod to book up after the Port Orleans property is usually CBR which is why only CSR has room.

We were at the World at this time in December 2005 and they DID extend hours. They announced later hours two weeks before we arrived and then extended them even more while we were onsite. MK was open until 2:00am a couple of nights while we were there.

DH and I are also staying at WL from Dec. 7-14. I really don't think we have much to be concerned about in terms of crowds. The busiest time this week is still way slower than what you will encounter in the summer and even just two weeks later in December. Rides are definitely not walk on but waits are still only about 20 minutes. I toured with Tour Guide Mike's advice on our last December trip and I NEVER waited more than 15 minutes.
