December 2008 Code Watch

How long does one have to apply a code to their ressie? I want to call on Sat to check to see if I have a pin code in my name or DBF's name. Since I currently have a AAA TA I won't be able to contact her until Monday, I'll leave her a voicemail and email since Mondays at work are insane. But that's assuming I have one. Oh please pin code fairy send some :pixiedust: my way.

What's a pin code? And how could you have one in your name?

Does anyone have any examples of past December AP rates. We went in 2004 and stayed at WL with an AP, but I can't remember what it was. We're booked with an AAA at All Star Sports for $65 per night with tax, but would love to move up to a moderate (CSR!!!).:goodvibes

If you book now for Dec 08, when is the first payment due? I've never planned that far in advance but am planning on visiting the first week or so of Dec 08!

I booked apackage for WL Dec 23, 2008 till the 26th, got the room, tickets and the basic DDP and I just had to put down $200. then right before the trip, i can't remember exactly I have to pay it in full. I had mine booked in January 2008:santa:

:santa: whooops, sorry I forgot to ask does the codes come out for december? TIA

Hi,

What's CRO???? We booked our package through AAA for our Dec. 2008 stay in Jan. 08. It's our first visit, and we ordered the DVD almost a year ago, but never received any codes. Do you know how I could find out if we have one??? And if so, can we use it even though we have our rooms booked already (at the Poly)???

That's right, I better start saving now. this is the first time I will be in DW at Christmas time. I have been there in November so I am real excited about this year :santa:

Im not sure what it stands for but it is the Disney reservations center. All I did was call the number from the website and ask if I had a discount code associated with my name, they looked it up, and Ihad a 40% code so I booked thru them. I was going to use AAA, but could not get the package with the dining thru them. You might need to rebook the room thru disney to use the code, im not sure, you couild ask them. Good luck!:santa:

I am reading a lot of talk about airfares. If you can book Southwest and the price comes down, you just cancel your original reservation and rebook with the cheaper price and use the original money which is in the SW bank and then you still have a credit. SW is fantastic about this, they do not charge a fee to change your reservation, if it is not a refundable fare, they just bank the money and it is good for a year.

I have been trying to decide if I should suck it up and pay the current airfare ($200 more per person than I expected) and be sure to have the flight times I want or just to wait in hope of the fares going down. Now I will go ahead and book with Southwest.

Thank you for that information. :woohoo: So glad I found this site.

I have been trying to decide too if I should purchase the high airfare now from SW or wait for a DING.:confused3 The fares have doubled since we went last year. Even the DING'S have been higher! We are still hoping for a code in Aug for our package, and then will decide if we are definately going or cancelling the trip due to high price of airfare.:sad1: Hoping for a code. :surfweb: Checking the dis each day!

I've called several times to ask about "codes associated with my name" but all the CM's I've spoken to say they've never heard of any such thing. Guess you just have to get lucky when you call in for that.

Maybe call and ask to speak to a supervisor. All I had to say was I was looking for a pin code that might be associated with my name. They pulled my name up on the computer and there was the code.

Maybe keep trying.

Good luck.

Which would you pick? My cousin is getting married in Winter Park in December and we are going for the wedding so I am trying to talk DH in to an “add on” trip. I got a promotion and raise at work and they were kind enough to make it retroactive to the beginning of the year. The lump sum I got from that would cover the cost of the bonus trip for us so DH has said that he’s OK with it as long as I can find a good deal. In DH-speak, “good deal” is not always definited as the cheapest option but rather the best value for what you are getting. After doing some digging I came up with a couple of different options here and am just trying to decide which to present to DH as the “best deal.” We will have tickets left over from a past trip so no need to cover those. We just need the room only or room and dining. We’re looking at 12/6 – 12/10:

Option #1 Wilderness Lodge for 4 nights: $796.50 room only or we can add the dining plan for $1180.34
Option #2 Beach Club for 4 nights: $1093.52 room only or $1477.36 with dining
Option #3 Beach Club CL for 4 nights: $1552.52 room only (I probably wouldn’t do dining if we did club level)
Option #4 POFQ for 4 nights with dining plan: $964.36 or with DELUXE dining: $1300.36

I know DH and it’s not going to be a “rock bottom price” sell, it’s going to be a cost/value sell. Part of me says go for POFQ and deluxe dining but at the same time that’s 5 of us in the room (3 kids ages 9 yrs, 8 months – gotta get one last trip in before he hits 10!, 7 and 2) plus the stroller on busses and all that mess. Part of me says lets do the WL because it’s our last chance to all fit in one room there. While I could see us reserving 2 rooms in a moderate, I don’t see that happening at the Wilderness Lodge so it’s last call for that one as our youngest will be 3 by the time we make it back again. That plus it’s the WL in December so Christmasy feel resort galore! Then still another part says the Beach Club might be the most expensive but I can argue it’s the best value for a few reasons. It has the highest % of discount, the biggest room, 2 parks in walking distance, Stormalong Bay if the weather is good and all that stuff.

What would you say is the best value? I will keep my fingers crossed for a bette discount later but I'm happy with this if this is all I can get.

I would call and take a different tactic. Call and say "I just wanted to make sure the information is all correct in my profile. I know you occasionally do some direct marketing and I want to make sure my info is right just in case!" Tell them you moved a while back or your changed emails and you can't remember if you udated the information. Once you've verified it, you know they are in your profile. You can then say "is there any chance you could look to see if we've been tagged with a direct marketing offer? Since we moved not long ago (or since I changed emails not long ago) we might have missed something. I know it's a long shot but I figured I might as well check to be sure!"

I think the phrase "code by my name" is DIS lingo and not officially Disney lingo. They know that people are sometimes contacted directly with special offers but they don't call it putting a code by your name if that makes sense.

I think you've talked yourself into The Wilderness Lodge! Enjoy!

My vote is WL for your week. Do that resort now before you officially have 5 (that's us now, your resort options quickly decrease with 5!) Definitely do the dining plan, so worth it if you enjoy the table service restaurants, especially character meals.
Wouldn't splurge on BC at this time of year, the main draw is the pool. Could be cold or hot that week, it's hard to plan. We wore winter coats one day and swam on other days!
I say all this and we are staying at POR- AB section because we have 5. We were going for less $$$ because we have a longer trip-10 nights:yay: . Saving for BC when it will be warmer:)

Enjoy whichever you choose!:santa:
