December 2008 Code Watch

What if you've made a reservation, then get the discount code can you then switch resorts? Say from one deluxe to another deluxe?

Has anyone ever booked a last minute Christmas trip to Disney and got the room they wanted? I want a value room but I won't be able to know if my DH, DF and DM are able to go until late Oct. or Nov. Am I setting myself up for disappointment?

Bride to Be Disney:
You could always book a room for as many days or more as you think, put your deposit in, and then when and if you need to change it you can. I do this in december, I book more nights than I think I need and then when plans are finalized I call and cancel some of the nights. You can also switch the ressie to another time of the year if you need to. As long as you have put a deposit down, you can add/subtract and move the res if you need to (as long as there are rooms available for that time frame of course.)
-Hope that helps.

Yes, you can if it is available at another deluxe. I have read where people have had to change resorts to be able to take advantage of the codes.

How are people notified of the code? I am a Disney Visa card holder, do they contact you with the code? Or is it found online?

If you want a value book it today. I think Pop is already sold out for Christmas week but I was looking a few weeks ago.

If you book a room only you only need to pay 1 night of your stay & have until 5 days before your stay to cancel. You do not have to pay the balance until you arrive.

wow, really? That is a lot better than what I thought. For some reason the CM yesterday told me that I had to put down $200. However, I did not tell him it would be room only. Actually, now that I think about it. I'm asking for two rooms so that would equal about 200. Silly me!!:rotfl:

Add me to the list! We just decided we are going to try to go 12/6 - 12/13 give or take a day or so either way. Tomorrow night we are going to have a "family meeting" to try and decide what resort everyone wants. My husband and I will have the "finance meeting" tonight after the kdis are in bed to decide what the budget will be which determines what resorts we present to the family. ;)

We will probably offer to get a room for my sister and her family too as a Christmas gift so a code would be incredibly helpful!

I wasn't sure if this was the appropriate place to ask but since everyone in this thread's going to WDW at around the same time I figured I'd ask!

A couple weeks ago the cost of a round trip ticket to Orlando was $218 per person but now it's up to $288. Does anyone know if it will go back down or will it just keep going up from here? I don't travel much so I don't know what the routine is or whatnot. . . Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Buying airline tickets right now is kind of a crap shoot. I booked the day SW came out with their tickets one of my fares went up 100 bucks in about 5 minutes after I booked it. With gas prices the way they are and no relief in sight I am going to guess things are not going to get any better closer to Dec. I may be wrong though. Like I said it is a crap shoot. :( I personally just wanted a fare locked in.

I would say if you can get the flights you want for about what your budget allows - go for it (i.e. don't wait and hope the price will go down ... )

The price of our tix have increased $250 per person since we booked in April - that would have cost us an extra $750 more ... So I'm REALLY happy I booked when I did!!

Uh - just checked again ... make that an additional $300 per person ... :surfweb:

We bought our tickets in March and they have already gone up $615 per person. One is a non-stop flight, we got one way flights since we have multiple destinations, and we got it for $120 per person. It's now $654 per person.

So buy your tickets now.

The fares will drop in Dec. But you have to have the guts to wait for them. I chickened out last year & booked in Nov. They dropped after Dec 1. All the fares are cheaper close to the departure date now but it is a gamble.

We are going to drive for the first time this year. We are staying 2 weeks. The extra charges & instability of the airlines are driving me crazy. If the fares drop we may fly

Buy them now. They will continue to go up throughout the year and there is no relief in sight. When someone throws out a prediction about gas going up, the oil companies listen and make it happen just to prove them right. I purchased on the day SW released their next dates through January '09 and am happy with the rates. I've never paid more than $99.00 each way, however this year it's $139.00 each way so i'm happy with the increase. Gas alone to/from Florida will cost an estimated $500.xx (at $3.79 a gallon) according to a previous study in our news and basing it on the exact type of vehicle we have ('06 Honda Odyssey). Gas is already higher so flying for us (family of 3) is much cheaper & faster and well worth the price for convenience alone. I'd rather get there in 2 1/2 hours vs. a 13 hour drive; and that's without stops.:headache:

I just looked at flights and I am glad we are driving down. If we were to fly it would cost almost $2000 for our family of 5. Even driving from Michigan and staying overnight somewhere I don't think it would cost us $2000 to get there and back. (As long as gas prices don't go up to $10/gallon or something.)
