December 2007 Code Watch

How sweet of you to want to wait for your mom! :) She ( and you) must be quite special! :)

Hope something extra wonderful works out!

My family loves Disney in December....we spent a week at CBR in July and I am looking to book a long weekend in December..maybe just for DH and me.:goodvibes
It doesnt matter where we stay b/c we will spend most of our time in the parks, DTD, and anywhere there is some Disney holiday cheer being shared. :wizard:
The holidays are gonna sneak up on us! LOL

I would love to have a code, but I am certainly not going to get my hopes up for it. As I understand it, the WL is the most popular resort in December, therefore I am not anticipating anything.

It is okay though, my package is paid and I never book expecting a code. I book what I can afford, ya know?

Oh well - to all us December travelers - GOOD LUCK!! :teeth:

With what I have heard of many hotels already being booked for early December and with park hour extensions already. I am thinking there is a higher attendance for this December than usual, which may very well mean no discounts. I am booked to a value resort, and completely happy with that. If a discount comes out, I may upgrade to a moderate.

I recently booked for Dec 20 thru 29. The next day I wanted to see what the price difference would be if I shifted my dates a bit. The online system said there was no availability for those dates at any of the value resorts. Now I'm sure there are some that are reserved for travel agents and such. But I don't think that bodes well for any sort of a discount. Unless a lot of people booked in advance of a special or trying to beat the price increase and wind up canceling at the 45 day mark.

I'm happy with what I got but I would like to be able to upgrade to a moderate if at all possible. But at this point I'm just happy I've got a room waiting for me!

I'm with you there. Back when I fell in love with the WL (shortly after it was built) they were practically begging people to stay there in December. Now look what's happened. I blame the DIS!

AHH...I didn't even realize the park hours were extended. Just great...I had a few ADR's scheduled around Wishes...California Grill and Narcoossee's....now I have to change them. Hopefully I will get an ADR at a later time...I'm crossing my fingers...

The p MK is open really late a few nights, with one a middle of the night (practically lOL) EMH. So, Disney is sure planning on crowds - this is the first time since 2004, going this very same week, that the MK will be open this late.

BUT We were able to get every ADR for the extact time without any problems at all. Even for The Plza (MK) on a MVMCP evning! :flower:

That sounds right as, a couple of days ago, I have no oportunities to make an ADR on Le Cellier on 12/02 (full booked for lunch AND dinner) and was offered with an 8:00PM dinner ADR as the earliest available!! :rolleyes1); it's my first time to WDW but it seems curious for one of the, traditionally, less crowded period of the year.
In any way I (we)'ll have the answer in some months :santa: :woohoo: :wizard:

I just called a little while ago to book for the week of 12/15-22. DM got a code today in the mail and we were planning an all girls trip for Dec. I got AKL standard view for $168 per night so I booked. I mentioned to the wonderful CM that I was waiting for AP rates to come out and that I know they came out last year on 8/14. He said to definitely keep looking out this next week. Hopefully he's not getting my hopes up. So here's keeping our fingers crossed that we don't have to wait much longer. :hourglass

I'm still waiting for mine. :rolleyes1 Let's all make sure that we share the codes when they come out. This will be our first time at a value resort. I wonder if the codes will work for a value:confused3

:cool1: :dance3: :yay:
I had my TA call since I booked through her (she really didn't seem to want to b/c she said that if we had not received anything in the mail then we would not have any "code" attached to our name....but I was persistant! ) DH had a code attached to his name!!! *YIPPEE* So, we saved $200!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I just had a quick question about these codes being attached to your name. We have been going to Disney for years and never have gotten any kind of postcard or anything w/codes, except when we have had APs in the past. So could we still possibly have a code? Do you just call central reservations and ask?? This is all new to me. Oh and is it attached to the name or address?? B/c I live w/my parents, so it would be in their name, bc this is my first independent trip from them in my own name. Thanks for any help!

I read a lot of posts talking about the extended hours of Disney World indicating possible higher crowds than last year. Now, speaking for the 2nd weeks of December, I only see this in a few instances. I saved my Times Guide from last year and this is what I see:

MK:
closing an hour earlier on Sunday
open two hours later on Monday
open an hour later on Wednesday
open two hours later on Saturday

Epcot:
no changes

MGM:
no changes

AK:
no changes

As far as EMH are concerned, they are the same for all parks except MK, which extended the evening EMH by one hour.

I also think that because the night they are open really late is a Saturday, they might be counting on more FL attendance than last year. I guess my point is, I don't see the extended hours as being so drastic as to conclude that there might not be a discount for December.

I was worried too, reading all the post about Disney being booked up. I am going the 1st week if December (the same week I went last year) because the crowds aren't usually bad that week at the parks. I already have my trip booked but out of curiosity I went online to book some trips at various WDW Resorts the same week I was going and there was availability at all resorts. The All-Stars Movies was getting booked up though but that’s understandable where it’s the most popular value resort.

You have a good point about the Florida residents visiting more on the weekend especially because of the million dreams theme. Another reason they could have lengthened the MK Park hours compared to last year is due to the MVMCP. I’m a major planner so I did not have this problem. But last year I heard of a lot of guest complaining about MK closing early due to the MVMCP. Maybe Disney is listening to their complaints and staying open later on other nights to make up for it. Just an idea.

Anyways, I’m not worried. The resorts aren’t booked up for the time frame that I’m going and last year I wasn’t aware of the codes so I paid full price (and my CAA discount), not saying the codes wouldn't be a nice bonus. I just hope the parks aren’t too crowded with the Million Dreams promotion going on.

We are going Dec 1-9 and staying at CSR. We just tried to upgrade to a deluxe and the only rooms available were AKL savanna view bunk bed, saratoga springs, and fort wilderness. Every other deluxe is booked solid except for suites. I hope this doesn't mean something bad

We tried too, to upgrade, and couldn't get what we wanted. Oh well at least I have something. It's already paid for, as we never expect a discount. I do still hope something will be offered though. It's such a FABULOUS time to go to Disney World.

It seems to be totally random, and can come from anywhere. I personally have never been fortunate enough to have a personal ccode, but I usually book through AAA, so that's probably why, although I am registered on every Disney website I know of...never hurts to hope! It does sound like some people have been lucky enough to call CRO and find out there is a code attatched to their name, so it dosen't hurt to try. I would think it would be in their name if all your past ressies haave been under their name. I would try any old addresses you may have, too, just in case!

I think the reason the deluxes book so quickly this time of year is the theming. A lot of people feel it makes the deluxes more worth the extra due to their fabulous Christmas theming. And many people like to resort hop to see all the deluxes, so it adds the convenience of being on the monorail. Maybe that is why they are booked. I am only guessing. But I will have a great time no matter what, although I must admit I am hoping for low to average attendance. I don't want it to be wall to wall people. I am going from the 7TH-16TH, so hopefully we will be okay.

That is what we were thinking this year booking WL for 12/8 - 12/16. We have been wanting to stay at a Deluxe resort and love the look of WL and figured the Christmas theming would be worth it.

Not too much longer now. We started our counter @ 299 days.
