December 2007 Code Watch

expected to be Dec. 2 – 8.......and still waiting somewhat patiently for the December codes......:surfweb:

I've see many posts referring to Pop Warner and have no idea what it is....can anyone tell me?

We're heading to Disney Dec. 8 to 15 and are hoping the crowds are minimal. But it sounds like more and more people are hearing that early December is a good time to go!

Does anyone have a picture of the single and double rental strollers at Disney? I've heard they don't have great storage so I'm thinking of bringing my own but am wondering if it's worth the hassle.

Thanks!

Subscribing!! Put our trip on a courtesy hold yesterday - December 6 - 11 at the ASMU Family Suites. Yay - this planning is so exciting!!!

HI!!!!!!!! New to the board, and feel blessed to have found yall. The hubby and I are planning on 12/9 - 12/15 for our belated honeymoon. I will call daily for good rates as well as include in my prayers for a code/pin.

I do have some questions though. I've been to WDW once and stayed at the Sports resort. Thinking of staying at the Movie resort this time, but I see a lot of people on here move up a notch with the discounts to the POFQ or POR. What makes the moderate resorts better than the value resorts?

Second, would anyone on here recommend me getting a TA or trying to book everything myself?

Third, my husband is a state employee and I read somewhere that WDW gives discounts to government employees? Is this true? Do I need to bring some proof when I check in? (He's in law enforcement so we can bring his badge.)

Thanks so much for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Booked at AKL standard view room with 40% discount from 12/9 - 12/15. :thumbsup2 Trip is all paid off and can't wait for December to come around.

Welcome to the DIS Boards brandijo5!

We will be at the Sports from December 9th-19th ourselves. It is our favorite resort but we are more the "stay cheaper and longer" kind. We booked in at the 40% off discount so we are only paying $49 a nite. I would not be surprised if they do not offer a good code for the time you want to be there as the period of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is slower.

If you can afford to pay a bit more I reccomend POR French Quarter as it is like being in New Orleans and it is such a romantic place, to me, at least. The moderates have a bit more room and somewhat better pools and some have hot tubs as well. Check out the 'resorts' at the top of the DIS and there are pictures of each resort and the rooms.

Have a wonderful honeymoon and may this be just the first of many trips that you enjoy through the decades together!!!

See you 'round the boards and possibly at the parks one day??

Slightly Goofy

CFKNIGHT, how much of a discount with AAA? I called but only looked at package prices. I need room only as hubby and I are going down during free dining and will upgrade our 1 day base passes to APs. Did you get a $ off or a % off? We are looking 11/25-12/3

Hi there and welcome to the Dis boards! I see that you are going for your belated honeymoon....well I would definitely suggest you stay at a moderate (or deluxe) and if it need be between POR and POFQ...I would go with POFQ. Very romantic.

There are quite a few differences between values and moderates. Some being that the rooms are bigger, they have a sit down restaurant, better theming, hot tubs, better bus service.

I've booked with a TA everytime I booked a vacation except this time. My TA never looked up good deals or prices and booked directly thru the disney website. I can do that! So this time around everything is booked by me. I like it a lot better because you get a say in what you want, how you want, and when you want. Some TA's do find great deals and discounts, just not mine. Really it is all about personal preference. Do you like to be in control of your vacation planning or do you want someone else to do it for you?

As far as the government employee discount, I have read about that somewhere but I'm not sure how it works. I do know you need proof at check in (you would need a picture ID government badge, not just his badge)...my husband is a law enforcement officer as well. :) See my siggy below.. and it's funny because I've never asked for the discount. Maybe I should call back...

Anyways, let us know what hotel you decide on....either way your in the heart of the Disney magic....nothing could be better! :cloud9:

If you're upgrading to an AP, your best bet is to wait to see if an AP discount comes out for that time. Much deeper then AAA!!

Thanks Princess Amy and SlightlyGoofy!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait til Dec!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the government discounts may be available at the Swan and Dolphin resorts and not WDW resorts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anybody know what dates are generally included in the winter/December code time frame? I have been on AAA as well as Disney reservations and the price goes up drastically for check in's after 12-19-2007.
In the past it seems to me the code was good for check in's up to around the 23rd of December. Can anyone remember what they did last year? I am trying to figure out what the latest possible date I can use for check in to get the discount. I know that is like trying to predict the future which is not possible but I feel if I knew what dates were last year I will be able to better make this decision. Thanks for your all's help!!

Last year, the fall/winter codes all included December until 12/23. I'm not sure whether that was holiday season or not. This year holiday season starts on 12/20. The chart below lists historical info on discounts.

Good luck!

Mousesavers, Mousesavers, Mousesavers.....did I forget to say Mousesavers?;) They have a list of discounts that were given in previous years. I'm not sure about the end of December. But they did have a discount for the beginning. Which is what I am impatiently, I mean patiently waiting for....hehe

I wish we knew WHAT the discount was for.. not just room only code or package discount. I want to know % or $ off for these discounts! I dont want to get my heart set on like WL and have to switch down to Pop.. no offense meant in anyway but I sooo want to be RIGHT there... and I like the theming of the deluxes more... that plus my kids will LOVE the slides in the pools!
