December 2,2006...Anyone want to join us?

you sure can't beat the $8 difference and the longer days onboard

good for you

Sorry to loose you but I'm sure you'll have a magical cruise. Try and remember to write a report on that trip for us. I'd like to know how the Ports are when you get there. We are going to do the 10 day Christmas cruise in 2007 if all goes ok, that will have some new ports for us.
Good Luck,

I am sorry that I will not be joining everyone on the Dec cruise. I will write a trip report as soon as we return.

Howdy!!!
How is everyone ???
We've been pretty quiet lately on this thread.
Is everyone settled down from vacations and getting kids back in school?
Our oldest daughter and family left today after spending a month with us. It is so quiet around here now. We did manage to do lots of stuff with them. We hit every theme park in central Florida and I have the tired feet to prove it!!!!
Has anyone been thinking about their Pirate costumes yet?
I saw at Epcot the other day they had a necklace made from the medallion for the Pirates of the Carribbean movie. It really looked neat. I'm thinking about buying it to wear as part of my costume. I have to decide soon, since we are cruising this December with Disney. If I get any good pictures of my family dressed as pirates I'll post it after we get back for everyone to see.
Then I need to be thinking of a door sign for this cruise. I want to make it personalized for this cruise, but havnt been able to decide what to do yet. I have seen many signs on this board, but still cant decide. Anyone got any good ideas out there? It will just be DH and myself on this cruise.
Well time to go, hope all of you are well and time is really flying by, it wont be long and we'll all be at the Sail Away Party , dancing and singing, and counting down from 10 till the ship sets sail! That is such a neat feeling when it happens.

Yes, we have been very quiet here. With the Magic returning home and the other cruises being planned in between, it is hard to keep up with everything. I usually go on a July 4th cruise also and have the 11 day So. Carib. cruise booked now and am looking into taking a 14 day on the QE2 also next year. So much to do and finalize.

Does anyone know to what extent the Disney ships are decorated at 12/2 each year. Are they already decorated at that date?

Hi Kay

When Mom and I were on the 4-day Wonder Nov 26 - Dec 2, 2004 the ship was completely decorated. It was so beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Castaway Cay was also all decorated.

edited to add.....ohhhh a TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Elaine:

Thanks - I wasn't sure when the ships were decorated

Lordy, I wonder when they come out with an Alaskan trip, if everyone will keep their already scheduled cruises or just add on. Disney sure is driving us crazy in that area.....

Kay

It will be a very big decision for us....At this point I have kept my December cruise because of the onboard savings and credit but if Disney decides to go to Alaska or the Mediterranean in 2007...We'll be there and unfortunately the western caribbean will have to wait!!!!!!

I'm not sure exactly when they decorate, however the parks are fully decorated by the day after Thanksgiving. Maybe the ship will be the same. We have done a couple of December cruises, but I don't think they were that early in the month. I know when we sailed on the Wonder January 2 or 3rd of this year and the decorations were taken down at the end of our cruise.
I hope they will be decorated by the 2nd.
I'm going this Dec 17th, if I remember I will ask guest services when they decorate the ship each year.

Howdy everyone,
I was just checking to see if anyone on this cruise lives in the devistated areas of Katrina, and I discovered most of us (myself included) have not said where we were from.
Are you all ok??? I hope everyone escaped katrina's fury. We got hit 3 out of 4 hurricanes in Florida last year, but all of them combined cant even begin to measure up to Katrina. Hope everyone is ok, obviously I am from Florida. Poinciana, which is about 18 miles from Disney ( on back roads) about 45 to 60 minutes from the port. Let us hear a "Howdy "from everyone so we know your ok. Kathy

I'm heading out the door for a Disney fix. We will be vacationing at the world next week. It'll be nice to escape to the happiest place on earth. I do admit I feel torn about celebrating when so many others in the south are suffering. On a happy note, I'm looking forwad to seeing Soarin', and the other new changes at Disney the past 18 months. :cool1:

I'll check back when I return.

Everyone stay safe.

When we went on our cruise Nov.29-Dec 6. 03 the ship was decorated. It was beautiful.

Something strange..We are booked through dreams for this cruise. They have us booked in room 7094, when I went to Disney cruise line site and checked reservations they have us booked in room 7064. It really doesn't matter which room as long as we are on the ship!! ;) I guess we will find out which room we are in come cruise time.

We were not affected by Katrina. We live in Florida between Tampa and Orlando..

PenskySth1,
Welcome to our little goup of cruisers. We are slowly growing in numbers.
It sounds like you had a great trip. Thanks for the info about the decorations, that will answer the question that a few of us had.
I live in Florida too. We are in Poinciana, the far south end. You've probably heard of it, but if not we are anout 25 minutes drive from Kissimmee. So we are neighbors, so to speak.
Looking forward to hearing from you in the future,

momx4,grandmax4,
I am not sure where Poinciana is, although I don't travel to far away from Lakeland. (well other than our weekend jaunts to Disney) ;) You are closer to Disney then we are! I like where we are because it is like 35-40 min to either Tampa or Orlando. We are right smack in the middle. :teeth:

My dad lives in Davenport, Is that near Poinciana?

Poinciana is just south of Kissimmee. yes we are close to Davenport, it is about 4 miles from us, so your dad is very close. Our son went to college in Lakeland for awhile and I believe it took him about an hour and a half to get there, but not sure. Tomarrow, we are headed to Magic Kingdom for the day. It is so nice after the crowds die down after the summer.
Looking forward to meeting you 15 months and talking in future posts.

I take the back ways to Disney, so it usually takes about 40-45 min to get there. I don't get on I-4 until I absolutely have to!!! :earseek:

we are getting closer. I can't wait until we hit the under one year mark. Maybe time will go quicker. I am already starting to work on our door magnets.

We NEVER take I-4 either. We use Poinciana blvd then West Vine St to Falcon's fire golf course, then on to Disney. My husband has a job change in a few months and we will have to move to Leesburg or Clermont area. Luckily that isn't any farther from Disney than we are now, because Disney just announced a new road on the west side that will be opening up this spring, and that will save some time too. When the subject came up about moving my first question was "How far to Disney?"
Guess I'm hooked on the mouse.

For those of you who may not know it, today is "National Talk Like a Pirate Day". So celebrate and have fun with it!!

Trolleygirl,
How was your vacation at WDW?
Did you like Soarin?
My family came out in August and they loved Soarin.
I'm anxious for the new "Everest Expedition" roller coaster at Animal Kingdom to open up in 2006. That is a awesome looking ride.
I'll never be brave enough to do it, but my family will.
I hope you had a great vacation, please give us a trip report when you get a chance.

My husband called me from work this morning and said, by the way, I booked us on a 3 day Wonder cruise, a category 4 stateroom, you have 1 1/2 days to get ready. Before he hung up i had the birth certificates in hand and was headed to the closet for the suitcases.
By the time he go t home for lunch i had everything packed accept the toiletry items, that are done at the last minute.
I'm beginning to wonder about my DH, this is the second time he has done this to me. No compllaints though! maybe it's all that grey hair penetrating to his brain or just old age that has made his mind go a little fuzzy. Either way, we are going and i'm all packed! Now I have 1 1/2 days to wait! My only regret is I dont have my pirate outfit ready yet, so we will just have to wear our pirtes of the caribbean t-shirts and red bandanas they give you at dinner to the party. There is no way I can fix up costumes in that short of time. It will be fun anyway.
I'll post a short trip report when we return.
Bon Voyage for now,
