December 1st SSR Reservation Day

How busy will this day be for the phone reps??? I am planning on booking 2 seperate fall vacations (one for my parents, for their anniversary). We are very flexible with when we can go, so I dont think we will have a problem.

It will be exciting booking for the first time!!!!!

Now - my only question to you posters, how do I get that calendar in my posts so I can count down the days

Go to the tech board and look for the thread countdown. From there you can use a generator to produce what you need to copy and paste into your signature.

Mondays are always the busiest day for DVC reservations.

December 1 will be that much busier due to the SSR reservations beginning. Be prepared for some time on "hold", but just be patient and enjoy the great Disney music and then the great treatment by the DVC MS castmember.

Do you think they would have a separate queue for SSR opening day ressies - have they done this in the past for the other DVC opening days?

I remember the first day members could call to book WLV using points... (Cash customers were able to book earlier).

To complicate it, the first NIGHT we were allowed to book was the Sunday night prior to a federal holiday - MLK Day.

I "knew" it was going to be slammed, so I started calling at 8:57. I finally got thru to the recording, and I started to wait. After quite some time, I got thru to a CM and started to make my reservation. Before it was finalized - WE GOT DISCONNECTED!!

I called back, but was on hold FOREVER.

Long story longer... I got my reservation!

Just be prepared to be patient - and good luck!

No and I am not aware they have ever done this including the lottery. They did have extra hours where you could only call for the lottery though. They never did anything for the special season preference list. Besides, how would they know you were calling for SSR unless they had a special number or cue on the phone system. That'd be a lot of work for the IT people just for a couple of buy hours. It also wouldn't be fair to those calling for other reasons.

When I spoke to MS on Friday about our May '04 trip (we were going to pay cash for OKW but are renting points instead), we talked about Dec. 1st and the CM said that they were anticipating the call volume and were ready to have "all hands on deck." She was so cheery about it that it made me even more excited to book! I may TRY to wait until December 2, but I probably won't be able to!

Yikes! That's also the 7 month window for the last week of June 2004 up to July 1. Anyone planning on reserving up to July 1 at the other resorts for next summer may want to call on November 28 and do a partial day to day reservation. Then call back on the afternoon of December 1 or on December 2, after things settle down and complete their reservation.

I am sure it will be a tough day on those reps, very busy. I am going to try to get 2 reservations, one in may or june and the other in sept/oct. I will keep you posted.

Thanks everyone forgiving me the information about the phones...man looks like I better put my headset on and get my water bottle ready...I'm in for the long haul...hehe

Anyways, I'm planning for a May trip, pretty much for the day they are opening. Any updates on that day? The last I heard was May 17th...has that changed? Also, anyone see that I will have a problem getting the first week it is open? I keep seeing people planning for summer vacations and other months, but not May. We don't have kids, so summer isn't even something we would consider. May would be perfect for us. Just let me know what you guys think. I want to be perpared for the let down if there is one.

I just got a letter from DVC today saying that SSR members can begin requestion reservations on December 1st.

Projected openings were

Units 1A - 1Q May 17th 2004

Units 2A - 9A June 7, 2004

Cant wait!!!!!!

I'm glad I have the "speaker phone" option and a cordless phone, so I can walk around, work around the house, and tend to other things while on hold! Can't wait for 12/1!

I hope I don't have to hold too long , I'll be coming off of a 13 hour shift and plan to call the second I get home. With my luck I'll fall asleep, be snoring (or worse yet breathing heavy) and they'll think I'm some sicko and hang up on me! That would stink!!
