Well I booked BWV 11 months in advance and got our 2br all reserved and went to check the school calendar for next year and found out our three children in school (1 will be in high school and 2 in 1st grade) have a different vacation schedule that we'd planned. In your opinion is it better to go the week before school (and pull them from school for four days, they get friday dec 23 off) or go the week of New Year's? Will the holiday decorations still be up the week of New Year's or will they be down? Will it be less crowded that first week of 2006?

Thanks for your thoughts.

With a High Schooler, I would say what week you take would depend on whether their exam schedule is before or after Christmas break.

If they are going to be out the week of Jan 1-8, I would suggest going then, since the week before and after Christmas are probably 2 of the busiest of the year. Plus points should be lower too.

I would pick the Jan dates. I can't imagine what the crowds are like the weeks surrounding Christmas - ug! If you could go before X-Mas breaks started, it wouldn't be anywhere near as crowded! I've heard Jan is a great time to go. Have fun!

We were at WDW Jan. 4-11 this year. The spectacular Christmas decorations were still up all over "The World" until about Jan. 8. Points were much more reasonable, as well.

I second the January dates, we were just there 12/26-1/3 and it was crazy crowded. We rode maybe 1/4 of the rides that we did when we were there in June.
I also would not want my kids to miss 4 days of school, but that's just me.
The decorations are well worth a January trip, less crowds, low points. I wish we could go the first or second week in Jan. but usually my kids have to be back in school the 4th or the 5th.
The only thing you'd miss at the Jan. time is Candlelight processional, and mmvcmp.

Well I think you've all confirmed it for me. The only thing we thought we may miss out on is the holiday decorations (as we'd miss MVMCP anyhow), but if they'll still be up we choose January. Yes, our kids are off through january 8, 2006, so for fewer points, smaller crowds and still are the wonders of the World - January it is. Now to wait to remake those reservations!!
