61 Days!

IcantwaitimsoexcitedthatIforgottoputspacesinbetweenthewordsonthispost!!!

This will be my first Cruise and my first Disney Trip! I hung the itenerary of the trip on my cubicle wall at work, because to go on this trip, i've had to not take ANY vacation days all year long!!

Now to get my packing list together..

BIG BIG THANKS to my sis TammyAlphabet for making all this possible. Watch Out 12/17 cruise crew, here come the Tennesseans! :woohoo: :Pinkbounc

Okay, we are off and running! How many days is it?

Oh yeah, looking down now!! :thumbsup2

Only 52 days before we board our plane and head for Orlando! Vacation city!
:cool1: :thumbsup2 :Pinkbounc :woohoo: :bounce:
Of course, we're on a red eye flight, hoping the kids will sleep some..., or else our first day won't be all that memorable!
The cruise will be a welcome relief after scrambling our brains on the coasters of US/IOA!

Marcy

We leave Chicago at 7:00 A.M. on 12/13.
If all goes well (no snow) we should be on Small World by 2:00.
Like Marcy, I'm hoping the kids sleep on the plane. We plan on staying for the parade that night so we could have two cranky kids. Throw in that MK opens early Thursday we could be in for a long two days.
But, we'll be at Disney!
Anybody else arriving early staying at POFQ?

We leave Charlotte at 4 and get there at 6 on Dec. 13.

We ready to go today, and just sit around and wait for the cruise, as long as we're at disney.

So is there a cruise meet planned yet?

Everyone will recognize me by my Black hat with the apple logo on it (from my avatar). I'll be randomly wearing it during the trip.

Keep an eye out!

50..um...ah...oh, IT'S ALMOST HERE days left! :surfweb:

Getting a little excited my brother??? LOL.

Excited is not the word for it TammyAlphabet!! I'm mezmerized by the idea of both Disney World and a Disney cruise!!!

Very much looking forward to this trip. We're going to have a great time!

I was working on my DISboard signature so I am posting this reply to see how it looks.
The Board convinced me to book a room at Atlantis for the day, so I did it through travelocity and it is cheaper than the Atlantis beach day excursion for 4 people.

Question: I was told the ship is decorated for the holidays and there is a Santa. Does anybody know if this is true and if there are any other holiday happenings on board? Thanks.

I know the ship will be decorated for Christmas, but I am not sure about the Santa, i guess in 57 days we will know for sure.

13.17 Celebrating US Holidays
On December sailings, Disney Cruise Line will host a festive holiday celebration starting in Disney's private cruise
terminal at Port Canaveral and continuing with a Magical Holidays sailing onboard the Disney Wonder or Disney
Magic. Magical Holidays highlights include a three-deck-tall tree-lighting ceremony in the atrium lobby, a visit
from Santa Goofy with surprises for all the kids, gingerbread house decorating, traditional holiday feasts, holiday
services,
Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, will feature Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, carolers, a 40-foot Christmas tree,
and sleigh full of presents as part of the holiday fun. In addition, Disney characters in holiday attire will sign
autographs and pose for photos, while the island's tram has been decorated to resemble a reindeer, complete with antlers and tail.

Per my discussion with a very nice CM, there will also be a Channukah (Hannah-kah in my family) candle lighting each night our cruise complete with wine and latkes (potato pancakes).

C'mon people, this is Disney. Do you really think they'll skimp on the holidys?
My wife is trying to figure out if we can do holiday photos on the ship and still get cards out in time.

I'm with you, I'm excited too !!!! :dancer: We'll be a the parks before the cruise too. Great minds think alike huh?! I've had to go without vacation days as well in order to have enough time to take this trip and get paid while I'm gone. We should schedule a meeting for all of our group while onboard. Any ideas? :chat:

I have never been on the Disney Cruise but, some others may ring in how the dismeets have gone on the ships in the past. Some people meet up right before the sail away party. I don't know much but seems like I heard that. I will do some snooping.

I have been giving some thought to a DIS meet too... I can't remember when we did it before... Seem like it was 3:00 before the drill and sail away party. Although I must have had to drag DS out of the Mickey pool... Or it was before he went in? Anyway--
Does 3:00 on embarkation day sound good to anyone? Since we are only on for 4 nights, we should shoot for day one. The sooner the kids meet, especially the ones who have been emailing, the sooner they'll be off for their own fun.
We should also arrive with some plans already in place---such as sea day wine tasting for the adults...or 80's night dancing? The acutal "meet" doesn't have to last all that long. Before all the kids exchanged things such as key chains or post cards from their home state/city. I don't think we need to go this far... our group is smaller, so far.
It is funny, after you meet, you will see familiar faces all over the ship, but unless you make a real effort to get together for something, everyone is on their own agenda and only be at the same thing at the same time by coincidence.
Anyone else have ideas?

Marcy

I think meeting around 3:00 sounds fine. We have a shuttle taking us to the ship at 10:00 am so as soon as they say we can get on board, we're off and running. :cool1: I'm sure our kids will want to hit the pool too. So, what about meeting somewhere around the pool so if the kids are swimming, they can jump out for a few minutes and jump back in. How about in front of Pluto's dog house snack bar which according to the pictures I've seen is right beside the big slide going into Mickey's pool. If, I'm wrong please let me know, I'm just going on what I've seen on the website.

hey everyone, I just found this info on www.allearsnet.com and thought you might like to see it:

All That Glitters is Holiday Magic Aboard Disney Cruise Line

“Snow” Flurries Forecast for Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay

CELEBRATION, Fla. – Holiday magic will deck the halls and add sparkle to the decks for guests who sail with Disney Cruise Line beginning this Thanksgiving and continuing through to the New Year. Both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will spread an abundance of holiday cheer, from traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts to “snowflake” sightings and seasonal caroling.

A special 10-Night Holiday Caribbean Cruise is planned for Disney Magic from Dec. 16 through Dec. 26. The Eastern/Southern Caribbean cruise will call at ports not typically on the Disney Magic cruise itinerary, including St. Lucia and Antigua.

The spirit of the season will surround cruise guests from the moment they arrive at Port Canaveral, Fla. Disney characters decked out in their finest holiday attire will welcome guests to the lavishly decorated private cruise terminal.

During holiday sailings, guests will discover:

o Thanksgiving festivities complete with Thanksgiving Day meal with all the trimmings, craft activities with a focus on pilgrim hats and turkeys, and visits by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in Thanksgiving costumes. o A nearly three-deck-tall tree festooned with decorations in the atrium lobby, where “snow” flurries fall and a tree-lighting ceremony occurs.

o A Christmas Day visit from Santa Goofy, with surprises for all the kids. o International holiday caroling by crew members from around the globe (exclusively on the Christmas cruise).

o Special family time for designing and decorating gingerbread houses.

o A reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by Mrs. Claus.

o Traditional holiday feasts in Disney’s three themed dining rooms (Christmas cruise only).

o Multiple faith and interdenominational holiday services (Christmas and Hanukkah cruise only).

o A ship-wide party to ring in 2007 and a New Year’s Day tailgate party.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, Disney Magic embarks on a special Western Caribbean journey, during which the ship sails twice to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The seven-night voyage departs Nov. 18, arriving first at Castaway Cay for the usual Disney Cruise Line visit. When the ship returns the day after Thanksgiving, the island will be transformed into a Magical Wonderland, where the sandy Bahamian isle becomes a “snowy” holiday hideaway. “Snow” flurries will fall like magic, Christmas trees will glow and carolers will croon. Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, wearing shell noses and tropical attire, will greet guests with a sleigh full of presents. The tram that transports guests across the 1,000-acre island will be reindeer themed, complete with antlers and tail. A four-night Disney Wonder cruise stops at Castaway Cay on Thanksgiving Day.

At the beach, families can learn the art of sand sculpting, and kids can dive into holiday-themed activities that include making candy cane reindeer, paper plate angels and snowflake-mobiles.

The Disney Magic 10-Night Holiday Caribbean Cruise departs Dec. 16, with visits to Key West, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Thomas/St. John and Castaway Cay. The Disney Wonder four-night Christmas cruise departs Dec. 24, with visits to Nassau and Castaway Cay.

To celebrate the New Year, Disney Magic departs on its seven-night Western Caribbean itinerary Dec. 30; Disney Wonder departs Dec. 31 for its four-night cruise.

From Thanksgiving through the New Year, Disney Cruise Line guests will experience a magical holiday to remember.

I read this to mean that we probably won't have Santa on our cruise. Is that right?

I'm guessing that only the Christmas cruise will have Santa Goofy and for our trip it should be just the decorations and extra winter/holiday themed crafts. If I find any more onfo, I'll post it.

Thanks for all the posts on the holiday happenings! :santa: It is making the wait more difficult.... :hourglass We are driving down to Disneyland this weekend for the Halloween Treat so hopefully this eases the suffering of waiting a little.

All the suggestions on meeting sound good as long as we can stay away from matching DisBoard t-shirts (which some other groups on the board have done). I am a Disney fan, but I can't go that far. :)
