December 13, 2008 Western Caribbean!! Let's get acquainted!

Hey you crafty ladies out there! I know some of you made your FE's and I'm just about to start mine. (I know, I'm running a little behind!:scared1: ) I was wondering what the dimensions should be, i.e. width and length specifically. Oh, and how deep did you make your pockets?

I'm sure I read this somewhere else, but I can't for the life of me find it now. I'm lucky to find enough of my brain to get myself and the kids dressed some days, let alone find some random thread that I think I saw somewhere sometime...

Oh, and Andrea, all teasing aside, thank you very much for all your work to organize us and get us together. I'm sure it's felt very much like herding cats some days, but we sure appreciate you! We think you're purrrfect!:rotfl2: (See what I mean about the brain deficiencies...how much cheesier can I get?!) Ooop! Time to go lay down the law for two little hooligans before they hurt each other!

No problem! ;) I will be expecting quite a few complimentary drinks though (I am fond of fruity & rummy FYI:drinking1)

As for the FE, I have found 8 1/2 inches wide works good. Length depends on how many pockets (ours practically drags on the floor!). I cut the pockets 11 wide X 7 high to allow for the pleat. Total demensions after sewing them on is about 6 1/2 in high and 6 1/2 inches wide.

On the FE thread in the FAQ section somewhere around page 2-3 the gal who sells on ebay gave a brief tutorial. I read that then went from there...

For those that have cruised before, do the photos work like the photopass at WDW. When we were there in January, we bought the DVD. Do you have a pass card, or ??? Can you buy a DVD on board and can you add it to your photopass from WDW

Karen

I havent been Karen, but from what I gather on the boards the photopass on the cruise is nothing like WDW and is not connected.

We are getting closer, love looking at my ticker! Have to go get the dog's bordetella (sp?) shot for the kennel and get suits and dresses dropped at the cleaners today.

ahhhhh next one? Hmmm, planning on bring a present home from the Caribbean? :rotfl:

No!!!!! But with the Egan' luck I wouldn't be surprised!

I read a thread here that they started photo pass last week on the ships. When we went 2 years ago it was a free for all-they take your pictures then post them on walls & walls of space in Shutters and you had to roam through and find your pics for the day (or week!). From what I've read they will have photopass for all onboard photos but still do the old method for photos off the ship (like Castaway Cay- They took tons of pics of my kids playing and swimming on CC!)

Isn't it incredible that a year ago we were all here almost as excited as we are right now? I am starting ot get "that feeling" and kicking it into high gear to get everything done on time. I'm still trying ot narrow my FE gift down to one idea so I can get started!

I am FE shopping, will someone confirm, we have 11 girls, 9 boys, 12 men and 15 women, correct? I am brain dead today, kept coming up with different numbers over and over! These numbers are with us included, maybe that is where I kept messing up...ackkk I am so brain dead!

lol @ Eagan luck, we call it Habel luck here. I dropped out last semester of nursing school for Katie cause of bedrest, ran my time till I would lose my clinical credit, applied, registered and got preggers with Carrie and stuck on bedrest. Needless to say I never to get my BSN! There will be no presents from the Caribbean for me unless Case can make himself look like Capt Jack and I will swoon! lol

I honestly am a nervous wreck, scared even! It "seemed" so long away last Feb...now it is almost here! Last WDW trip I was packed already, this time I havent even looked for the luggage since we bought our house and moved in here in April!

That is what I got!

my toes are so cold... I am trying hard to imagine them in the warm waters of Castaway Cay:love:

Hey all!

I think I have what I need for the FE exchange. Whew. The stuff is heavy though, I thought about shipping it ahead, but I will need to get home (presumably) about the same amount of stuff... may as well just pack it!

Karen- here is the link to the discussion about photo pass coming to the Magic:

Looks like they are trying to make it work. Maybe we'll get more updates from cruisers before we actually board. I love the photopass idea. On our last cruise, I forgot to look for this one photo of my kids. And all that searching is a pain. Picture wall after walll of photos of cute kids and happy parents and try to pick out all of your own!

Oh-- Did any one raise their hand to organize an actual meet or two?

I can do that. Here is my idea:
1) 3:00pm embarkation day (Saturday) at the Promenade Lounge.
This gives people time to eat lunch, get in that first swim at the Mickey Pool, and check out the staterooms and enough time to chat for a bit before the lifeboat drill. Also, we can coordinate or at least recognize each other to join up at the Sail Away Party.
2) Wine tasting on Sea Day... Ok, not sure if and when this actually happens, but we could coordinate by phone message or FE notes to say we'll be there...? Anyone who didn't want to do the FE thing but would like to be in the loop for gatherings could add their stateroom # to our list at the first day meet.

From my experience... you will find yourselves quite busy with just your family on this boat! As far as subsequent meets after day one, we could be casual about it. Just leave messages as to where you'll be and people can decide to go or not and look for you.

I wish I had a group do do this with on our last cruise... I went to 80's night without DH (too tired) and had a blast! But it would have been even better with some friends!

How does this sound? Anyone want to add anything?

Marcy

Sounds fine to me, will have to pry myself, Andrea and Kevin and whomever off the lounge chairs by the pool with our drinks lol I agree about letting the kids meet early, I know Katie loves making friends and by the end of the first day she will have a "my new best friend ever". She says that everytime she makes a new friend lol.

Anyone heard or seen Charlie or gg? I haven't and hoping they are okay!

Hey never give up with the nursing, I don't know about where you are from but we are so short of nurses. I am a nurse manager and am in such need of some

I hear you about the getting nervous, the trip is all I can think about these days.

HALLALUJAH! Thank you Marcy! I will pry my butt off the lounge and be in the promenade at 3!!!

From the most recent navigators (oct 4th) it looks like they had wine tasting AND margarita, martini & beer tastings on Monday & Thursday at various times. (funny, the ONLY things circled on the navigators are the alcohol related ones so far....)

Hey All! I sorta fell off the face of the earth for a while, but I'm back and counting the days.....:woohoo:

Andrea, thank you so much for your work, I hope I can have the pleasure of buying you your first frosty drink!

Katherine

Too much caffeine at work today (and too much websurfing) :surfweb:

Michele we are at the same hotel before the cruise, what time are you getting in and do you have a plan yet?

We should be to the hotel by 6 and I think we're gonna grab a quick bite to eat then I'm gonna head over to Walmart to pick up bottled water, beer, & a few other necessities that I don't want to pack all the way from Cali...

Well DS gets out of school at 2:30 so we will probably leave the house around 3:30. We are stopping in Kissimmee to look for a bathing suit for me. We are also stopping at Downtown Disney for a few last minute pirate supplies and then we will be off to the Hotel. I figure we should be in around 6 or 7ish. Dh always likes to make a trip over to Ron Jon's and the wal-mart there in Cocoa for our few beverage items.

I can't believe at one time we were over 2 years away and now we are almost one month. I am so ready to cruise, these next two months are going to be hectic.

We will be at the promenade lounge at 3, I know on our last cruise I missed the meet because of a screw up with our romance pkg. So I spent my time at guest services.:sad2:

ya know the kids FE gifts and the womens FE gifts were easy, The men NOT SO EASY! :scared1: :lmao:

mmmmm did someone say Margarita testing lol

Welcome back Kat! I had went through the front page looking at who all were supposed to be on the cruise and wondered where you had been too.Hope all is ok with you!

Easy Michele?? Can you do my shopping too? lol
