December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

I'm the only person in my house that hasn't had the H1N1 virus. I have no idea how I escaped it

Is anyone concerned about water temperature for the water excursions? We are scheduled to do the dolphin adventure in Grand Cayman and my husband and daughter are scheduled to do the underwater scooters in Cozumel. As I look at the temp highs and lows, I'm not convinced I want to do any of it.

We were in Grand Cayman and Cozumel last January.. it was overcast in Grand Cayman - but it was more then fine to get into the ocean and swim... lovely even. By the time we got to Cozumel it was raining sideways and very windy - but we did the dolphin touch and the water was much warmer then the air...

I am all about Face Book its been great finding relatives and old friends there.
Found my childhood best friend there hadn't seen her in 20 years. I was maid of Honor at her wedding. Saw her last week we talked for hours my tongue was tired. LOL

I'll go check it out. This is confusing. I told you I was new to this type of communication. I'm much more proficient at Facebook.

I was talking to a Dr. friend today and asked him who should get the shot, so I say how about you? Hes says no he doesn't want it, now go figure......
I understand that the virus changes after awhile and the old shots then will not protect from the new changed virus.of course I have a limited understanding of viruses.

You CANNOT get the virus from the shot/vaccine. NOT POSSIBLE.

I have a degree in microbiology and my two girls have lung conditions, so we all got the shot. The shot does not necessarily prevent you from contracting H1N1. It gives your body some reserve soldiers that are specially made for fighting the virus. Some of us already have those soldiers. Some of us make them very quickly without any assistance. I get the shot so that I don't pass the disease to others. My girls both came down with H1N1 a month after the vaccine, but both were only mildly sick for less than 36 hours. That is quite a medical miracle for children with asthma and cystic fibrosis.

Moral of the story, not everyone really needs the vaccine or the help it provides. But you never know who you will pass it to if you do get the disease.

If I put on my doctor hat, this is actually a very good explanation of the vaccine. I would alter the fact that you CAN get the disease from the nasal mist, but it is typically a very mild form. You cannot get the disease from the shot--no way, no how.

However...the cruise boards are probably not the place to debate vaccine issues, so before the moderators shut us down, we ought to do it oursleves.

Glad it wasn't too hard on you guys!

Hey guys,

I'm totally bummed. This is one of the things I was putting in the FE exchange for the adults. I laminated them, and they didn't seal on the edges. I tried one, and the lady grabbed it and said, "oh yeah, no problem, it will work." I said, "are you sure, 'cause they're pretty thick."

Well, here they are, it didn't work, I should have listened to myself. They don't look good, not sealed on the edges, and if I try to peel it off, it rips the paper. :sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

Here's to what might have been. I guess if I have time, I'll still try and tackle them.:sad1:

Not to worry! They can be used as book marks or luggage tags, I'd love to have them for scrap booking..
What is the intended purpose?
I have something home made and some of it looks pretty good adn one of it looks so-so. I am giving them anyway I like them.
I laminated those Mickey Heads from Home Depot and they didn't seal at the edges either. They are now my luggage tags, we can see them coming around the carousel at the airport quite clearly.

It was not my intention to infer in any manner that you would get the flu from taking an injection.... just that some people don't benefit from it as well as others.

Ohhh please, can I still have one. Those are soooo cute.
I'm beginning to feel a bit out of my league. They are just so creative.

I know you meant no harm. I was just on a soap box this morning. I'm a bit tired of all the misinformation. But I think others are correct and I've stepped down from the box. I'm moving on.

And I can't wait to meet all of you in person!

What if the gift doesn't fit into the fish extender pocket? Or is that not a problem?

Also, has anyone been to a wine, martini, beer, tequila... tastings on The Magic? I've never been to one on a ship and was wondering if they are fun. Are they expensive? Do they fill up quickly so you have to sign up right away?

Did a TON of Christmas shopping this weekend.

Going to try on dresses for formal and semi-formal night to figure out what we'll be packing. DH took his three piece suit to the cleaners today so it's ready to pack. I need to find DS2 some formal clothes. I see a trip to Macy's in my near future.

If it doesn't fit you might hang it from the fish or give it to your/their cabin steward for delivery into their room.

Everyone should be sure to tell your own steward that you are expecting/accepting deliveries.

There were intended to be bookmarks. They are 6 3/4" x 1 3/4", and I had some cute ribbon to put on them. I'm just bummed because it was a fair amount of work. The A and D had the centers glued in the letter, and the hands all had the holes poked out.

I guess I can bring them with the bracelets and if anyone wants them, they can still use them. They're just not as pretty as I want them to be. :sad2:

I love to read and would use the bookmark. Scooby do you have one of those Cricut things? They always look so interesting.

Who's packing??? I have company until Wednesday....THEN I'm going to pack and spread my suitcases etc all over my guest room!:thumbsup2
