December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

We are about 50% packed! Just have to get a few more things washed and it will really only take a couple hours to finish it all up. I have a list though of other things I have to get done that ahve nothing to do with the cruise!

We are having a blizzard and the airport is closed. Hope its open tommarrow so we can leave to sunny WARM Florida:scared1:

Attention bargain hunters....
I booked our flights ages ago, and tracked them at least weekly since then. The fares have consistently gone up. SO, today I checked again. Our flight had decreased in price so that I was able to get $48 off each ticket for the flight home. Southwest won't do a refund, but it can be used toward future travel. Looks like my April ticket is covered!

Our flight there was already at a good fare, but I'd felt all along that we got burned on that return flight.

I felt like we also got burned on the return flight. (of course it's the day after Christmas) I'm going to check now.

I just noticed your tag, when is your birthday?

Does anybody here pin trade? I'm bringing a few pins. Not a lot because...well, I'm actually too shy to be a good pin trader. :rotfl:

And yup, I'm still procrastinating. Haven't even packed a sock yet. :rotfl2:

My daughter LOVES pin trading. The pins are packed .. clothes are not.

OK I have everything packed except for my cameras and laptop.

So since I had extra time I started a batch of mesquite jerky in the dehydrator.
Any deer hunters out there?

I cant wait to walk through here:

How exciting! Is that where we enter to board the ship?

DD and I are getting very excited! She was feeling a little under the weather today so we made a trip to the doctor - sinus infection. So she started an antibiotic and according to doc should be feeling fine by Saturday!

Almost done packing, which is a relief. Now just adding some final items and doing another doublecheck.

We are all going to have a wonderful, magical vacation! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: I just got my Disney cruise planning packet and DVD in the mail today! :rotfl2:

I've gotten all muddled on the carryon business. I know you can't put liquids in your luggage, so I need to put my water in carryon. What about food? Can I pack the kids' snacks?

Next, my FE gifts are things I don't want crushed or to get hot. So, I plan to carry them on. My question is, how long will we be lugging the carry-ons around? Til 4 pm? Between water and liquor, the carry-ons will be heavy! They do have wheels, but still. Will I be able to hang out in A/C so they won't get hot? Can I check them somewhere to pick up later? Very puzzled up all of a sudden!

BTW... it is snowing at my house, too. Specifically, IN my house. There is a light dusting of mess in every room. An opportunity to clean before leaving is looking less and less likely. I hate coming home from vacation to a messy house, but I may have little choice. If we don't make it home from our cruise, my parents are under strict instructions to gasp when they enter the home and tell everyone it was broken into and ransacked while we were gone! :lmao:

I have read a lot about bottle water an lot's of you bringing it to the ship, understandable specially if you have small children. But we are stoppin at Key West and that is still the US; so I figure one should be able to find good quality bottle water at US prices, right ? Just dont go for the french Evian or the Perrier which are very expensive anywhere. Dont's know any about Cayman but in Cozumel, Mexico I wouldn't try my luck with any water.

Just did a web check in for our flight tomorrow.. this time tomorrow we will be flying towards the sun and heat!

Changed our Happy Limo res to earlier so we will arrive at the port at 10.. hoping some pixie dust is there and an upgrade is within our grasp..

Are the lines long at the port at 10? I think we will have the kids put on their bathing suits and some coverups/clothes over top so the less we have to carry on the better!

Wow..off to pack my clothes, etc... the kids are done save for shoes and formal wear which will go in the garment bag..

See you all on Sat!

Thats an excellent idea!

Yes it is and you will have your picture taken there too so if you get a minute you might straighten up the family! :rotfl:

They will also formally announce your family name, which I personally love that little touch, its so gracious!

Well.. if for some amazing reason we ended up with one of the big cat 1 or 2 suites.. maybe! I don't know if the cat 3 would be big enough ;).

When we went on our 10th anniversary cruise to the South Pacific, we had our Cruise Critic meet in one of the owners suites at sunset (it was an aft cabin) very nice!)

Clothes pulled out : check!

Now to find a few new books to put on my digital reader.. any suggestions?

Yes, there are some drug store type places in Key West where you can get those last minute items that you forgot. I'm basically packed...but I lifted the bag with the FE stuff in it--that dude is heavy. Will have to weigh it an possible shuffle up items.

How long you will need to carry/wheel your luggage after boarding depends on when you board, you will have access to your cabin at 1:30. Of course, before that you will go to lunch. No, there is no place to check your carry on--that's the point--you carry it. Nothing says that you have to be out doors; you can be sitting at lots of places inside.

Food in totally sealed original packing can be where you want it. Anything that has been opened needs to be in the carry on.

I'm finally feeling "almost ready."

Oh, I checked the weather on line. Orlando is supposed to be 77 on Saturday....the rest of our cruise is low 80s for the week, mid 60s at night, no rain expected.....Couldn't be better!
