December 11, 2011 Mexican Riveria

I asked disney when formal night & pirate night was because I wanted to plan around those nights when making a reservation at Palo & reserving time in the nursery. I also asked about the character breakfast. I received a reply which was different than what I was expecting - I had read on other trip reports that their formal night was night 2 and it seems pirate night varied between nights 4 and 5 on past trips.

Here is their reply:

Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual"-- jeans, khakis and capris are permitted;
however, we ask that Guests refrain from wearing shorts, swimwear or
tank tops in the dining rooms.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject
to change:

*Nights 1, 2, 5, 7: cruise casual
*Night 3: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 4: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Palo is our romantic alternative restaurant exclusively for our Guests
18 years and older. To maintain this elegant feeling during the various
dining options, a dress code is in place for the Palo Champagne Brunch,
Palo High Tea and Palo Dinner.

-Palo Champagne Brunch and/or Palo High Tea:
Cruise casual wear suggested.
No shorts, swimwear, tank tops or blue jeans are permitted.

-Palo Dinner:
Men - A dress shirt or jacket is required.
Women - A dress or pantsuit is recommended.
No shorts, swimwear, tank tops or blue jeans are permitted.

When sailing on the Disney Wonder on a 7-night cruise or longer,
Mickey's Island Jam Breakfast is usually held in Parrot Cay on the days
the ship is 'At Sea'.

The Character Breakfast is a traditional 'meet & greet' experience.
Mickey & the Gang will visit your table, sign autographs, and take
pictures with you and your family. You will receive full table service
and order from a menu.

On the first day of the cruise your server will let you know which
morning you will be experiencing this special event.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Have a Magical Day!

Just got off the phone with Disney:

she said 2nd night is formal

5th night is pirate

6th night is semi formal

That's so strange! I know the email said "subject to change" but the reply to me was just sent this morning and was specifically about the December 11th cruise. Hmmm...

So what excursions is everyone going on?

DH, DD(will turn 1 on the trip) & I are going on the Paradise Beach Adventure in PV.

On the first day in Cabo DH is going on the "Sport Fishing" trip & DD & I don't have plans yet...

For day 2 in Cabo, I booked us all on the Harbor Cruise & Scenic Stop which leaves at 7:15am(!). That seems way too early to have to be anywhere while on vacation but I read some great reviews for it. There aren't too many excursions you can do with a 1 year old in tow.

Is anyone else going on these? Or anything that I haven't planned but is amazing and I should book asap :confused3

DS 13 and I are doing the outdoor adventure in puerto vallarta. We are currently booked for more zip lines and suvs in cabo, but I am still researching non disney excursions - primarily whale watching and deep sea fishing.

We are doing the Pirate Boat Sail & Snorkel Adventure in PV. In Cabo we are going to a beach on one of the days. I would love to go whale watching, but I am not sure how my 5 year olds will like it.

I've heard you can sometimes see whales off the side of the cruise ship! We went whale watching on a 4hr boat ride in San Diego a couple of years ago and didn't see a whale until the last 20 minutes! It was too long for me to be in the choppy water on a smaller boat so I wouldn't do it again.

actually if you find out anything about whale watching I would also be interested. we have gone out of Long Beach and Newport but I think going in Mexico would be fun.

I finally got all of our outfits together for formal night. We got the final piece yesterday. It is a bow tie for my 4 year old. I'm excited to get a family picture. The last one was almost 4 years ago.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. We are coming from Australia and this will be our first Disney Cruise.

I'm so excited and I'm advising everyone well in advance - STAY AWAY from the small weird lady doing a happy dance when she sees Goofy! That'll be me

We are a family of 4 - 2 adults, daughter, 11 and son, 10.

Looking forward to meeting new people, though we don't know if we'll be at a dining table on our own or with others yet. We are booked on the first dining.

Aaaagggghhhhhhhh! I'm so excited!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Thank you for sharing such great ideas. I knew about the pillow case but not the photo mat. I'm thinking that would also come in handy for presents for nieces and nephews, too.

As we will be travelling for almost 2 months and are restricted with suitcase weights and sizes we have to keep things small and easily transportable. The pillowcases are ideal for that.

welcome aboard! unfortunately it will be hard to place you as there will be so many ladies dancing with Goofy.
Thanks for the reply. DD and I have just been reading all of the posts on this thread and we've decided to participate in the fish extender and hopefully the get-together.

Please add us to the spreadsheet (hubby's gonna kill me when he finds out!)

Room: 2120
Adults - Maryann and Michael
Daughter - Jamie (11)
Son - Mason (10)

Now, I've got to plan to make a hanging thing and work out what to make/buy for gifts. As we fly to L.A almost 2 weeks before our cruise, when will we find out 'final numbers' for how many people will be participating? We will be limited to our luggage restrictions on the flight from Australia, otherwise we will have to shop for little things before we cruise.

Looking forward to meeting new, fun, interesting people on the cruise.

Which part of Oz are you from? My husband is from Melbourne originally! He moved here about 5 years ago. We'll be on the cruise with our then-1 year old and I'll be the pregnant one (just found out!) hoping not to get seasick!

I found someone on etsy that makes great custom pillowcases for the disney cruises. I ordered one with my daughter's name, birthday (since it will be during the cruise, other people just put the cruise date) and picked a disney character and DCL logo that will be embroidered on. I think we'll do a photo mat too. I read somewhere that they will accept 2 items per stateroom for autographs.

Hi Katds10. I live in Queensland but was born in Melbourne. It's a small world, isn't it?

Congratulations on the pregnancy. I was sick for 3 whole days on our last cruise to the South Pacific and was so tempted to throw myself overboard as dying seemed preferable to another day of nausea! Then I got the 'good stuff' from the guest services desk that cured it all. I wish I knew the name of it so I can bring some with me.

What is the name of the Etsy person you got yours from? Can you send a link to it?
