Don't know if you saw the posting of a boy being taken off the ship last wk in Cabo and the importance of travel insurance and passports. Life was much easier for this family because of insurance and having passports.

My ds was taken off the Wonder last night via ambulance in Cabo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He had emergency surgery for appendicitis last night. He is doing well today and will be released tomorrow.

The good news? Disney is absolutely wonderful when this happens. An agent from Disney stayed with us all night. They had the surgeon and another doctor meet us at the ship. They put him on a stretcher and we tendered into Cabo. An ambulance met us at the port and they had another car waiting to follow the ambulance for the rest of us.

The rest is a blur. But, I cannot say enough about Disney. They arranged for the rest of us to stay at a nearby resort. We have an ocean view! I wish I could enjoy it!

They have arranged rides for all of us to and from the hospital to the resort and back to the ship. They helped us with contacting our travel insurance operator.

And, lesson learned? Get travel insurance!!! It is wonderful to know that we won't have to worry about expenses when we return home.

I had to route around for the post. the title of it is My son was taken off the ship in cabo
Thank you so much for finding that again for me.

With both the boys having tree nut allergies and asthma it is a risk to do most things. My daughter is very concerned about the cruise, so this will help her worries, I think.

We did purchase the Disney insurance. Hurrayyy.:)

The other thing is passports. I quess having them made it a lot easier to make arrangements in Mexico. Last saturday we finally went to the post office and arranged for my passport and Jackson's - fortunately Heather already has hers from traveling with her job. The first two years with Disney she traveled the world doing audits so her passport has to be kept up to date. I also just read that it is a good idea to bring a copy of the insurance with you - one more thing for the document folder.

I have my passport but the rest of my family does not. We just can't afford to get them. When I booked the trip I figured I would be able to get one every couple of weeks from babysitting but that has stalled. :sad2: we did get the insurance. I'm glad that the family was taken care of.

We have our passports and also insurance. My husband does not like to pay for the insurance, but it is important for me to have it. I have had two kidney transplants. We will be celebrating my 12th anniversary(second transplant) on December 15th.

We opted for the lowest level cabin on this cruise (11C, I think) and weren't given a cabin assignment at that time. Does anyone know when we'll be told where we get to 'live?'

BTW, they told my daughter that if she had purchased the Disney insurance she would have been compensated for the days her children were refused entry to the activities due to illness. We did not know we were supposed to report everything to the clinic on board to document it. So...be sure and document, document, document if you have any illnesses that cause your children to miss activities, or your family to miss shore excursions.

We may still be able to have my granddaughter along! Her dad said he would pay the extra $$$ that the Disney voucher won't cover. What a guy! Now we have to get the actual voucher (they mailed it) and see if Disney will let her use it for a cruise in my name. I was on the original cruise with two of the grandkids in my cabin, so maybe that will help....or not. We will see.:rolleyes1

We would also like to participate. Shall I add our information to the spreadsheet?

Glad to have another FE member cabin!!!!! Thanks for the offer, but the spreadsheet is locked except for viewing (I think it is, anyway). This is my first time using google documents so I am somewhat clueless.:scared1:

So..you can give me your info here on the board, you can email me or private message me by clicking on bnalexander.

Again, welcome!

Today my daughter paid the full fare for her 5 year old, Allyson, to travel with us. Disney blocked the usage of the voucher every way we tried and were not reachable by phone at all, only email. Hard to handle when each communication takes a day. Vouchers cannot be changed unless they are changed and re-mailed...another 8 days. Allyson could not use hers because kids sail free. The adult fares both went up, not hers. Gave Disney loads of excuses to not help us out. Anyway we are now in a 4E and I don't know when we will get a cabin #. That does not matter...finally things are decided! They have Allyson on the late dinner and the rest of us on early, so we will have to go right away when we get on the ship and fix that. Early is better for the grandsons. So, there is a smile on my face as I go to add Allyson to the FE Spreadsheet!

Question: How do you know when your cabin # has been decided?

I wonder if Allyson will get a table all to her self. you know five yr olds are sooooooooooo self relient. Maybe Jackson and her can share a table even though he is only two he is also able to take care of himself of course Allyson will have to do the ordering as he really doesn't talk too much.
I am also waiting to get a stateroom assignment actually I think quite a few people are waiting. if what I am reading it should be by the beginning -till middle of Nov.
