December 11, 2004 Eastern cruise thread

Thank you for the info on the sea days and the crowds at the pools. We'll probably do something else on those days. Actually for dinner we only have a table for two. My mom said on the first cruise that she knows that I would feel comfortable with other people that I don't know. However she probably would not be as comfortable with others as she would be with it just being mom and daughter. So we went again with a table for two, I don't want my mom to be uncomfortable. This is supposed to be a WONDERFUL vacation. I can't wait.

So Sam, your like the dad on the DCL commercial where you see him sleeping all over the place. On the ship, and Castaway Cay. HA! HA! That's funny. And thank you for letting me know that you got an upgrade. That gives me something to look forward to. Hope you enjoy your view.

That's me. :D Though I suspect my boys are going to be so excited they won't let me sleep on this one. It'll be their first cruise - my third.

My TA called and said our shore excursion information has come in for our cruise. I don't have any big interest in anything except perhaps the butterfly farm and coral world, and I assume I don't need to call her asap and book those, right?

We have all paid in full now, all ten of us. It would be interesting if anyone in our party gets an upgrade. We are in a veranda room, we have two oceanview rooms and one inside cabin. Perhaps the inside cabin will get bumped up.

The weekend is almost here, so that'll be one less week between us and our cruise. Man I'm getting excited!

I'll be exhausted from excitement by the time our sail date actually arrives!

DITTO, My MAN!!

cruisenewbie 2004 - we're planning on seeing Coral World too. Heard from someone who lived on St Thomas that it is worth seeing.
Not Sure about St Maarten - may do island tour.
Sure wish our excursion info would get here. Curious to see if there is anything new.

Just saw on a thread down farther that docs seem to be arriving around amonth before the cruise. Soooooooo does that mean in just about a month we should be getting our doc? YEA!!!!

Yes,dh and I are getting excited too!I booked the excursion that we are doing with Disney on Wednesday which is the St Maarten Island Tour.Come on Fran join us!!We will be doing Coral World on our own actually I will as dh will be snorkeling as I didn't want to try it due to my asthma. He already booked that online.

I hope these weeks fly by as we are so ready for this getaway!

You all have a great weekend!

To those on our thread with young kids....

Are you going to ask for one of the "pay it forward"-thread postcards? (For those who don't know. You can PM the thread your kids names and address and someone will send a cruise postcard to your kids from Mickey - or any character you want - saying "Can't wait to see you".... etc. before you go on the cruise. Then when you get back you sign up to be one of the folks who will send out a postcard. You get a few free postcards in your stateroom). If so. Don't you think we ought to ask for one soon??? I'm not sure on the turn-around time....

Good morning Maria - we posted just a few minutes apart! I can see you are an early riser like me! Perhaps we'll have to meet for a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise from deck 10 one morning...

Good morning Jen!Yes,my dear friend I am an early riser and a coffee drinker as well.Yes,we will definitely have to meet for a cup of coffee one morning as well as a sunrise.DH isn't a early riser,so I haven't seen the sunrise on the boat yet.I bet it is beautiful. It has been a busy week here.I am so ready for the rainforest at the spa.I want some relaxation now<G>.

Our excursion package came about a week or so ago. We thought we had are places picked, however today things changed again. They always seem to. Now we are going to Coral World and doing the Tram, and we are also going to do the Butterfly Farm. I can't to get on the ship.

Does anyone know of any place that has cheap transfers from the airport to the Raddison next to the Port?

Thanks. Can't wait to see everyone.

Jen

Hi thejenjens,

Getting transportation from the airport to the Radisson is the only thing I have left to really plan and reserve, so I was calling around today to check and compare prices from the various companies. A couple months ago I was pretty sure about using Happy Limo because they were recommended by another DISer and they seem to have the best rate for a van (we have 5 in our party). After reading the number of negative posts regarding Happy Limo I started getting worried about using them and decided to do more looking. I found that the top companies that people on this board seem to like and recommend are FL Tours and Southern Elegance Limos. I went to both websites and talked with Adam from Southern Elegance Limos- seems to be a very nice man! I'm going to try to talk my husband into going the limo route when he gets home tonight, we'll see. The price is around $280.

If I remember correctly there are two in your travel party(Mom and Daughter) so you could probably look at a town car for much cheaper than a limo. Southern Elegance has town cars for $160 roudtrip. FL Tours has town cars for $170, buty offer a $10 discount so they run $160 as well.

Hope this helps.

Good morning all!
We haven't gotten our excursion info yet. If we don't get something today I'll go on line with DCL and get the info. Then I'll just call DCL.
We definitley want to go to Coral World; but not sure about St Maarten yet. Has anyone gone to the Casino there?

What's happening with "the game'?

8 weeks from right now we'll be pulling up to the terminal!!

Everyone have a great weekend.

Exactly what I was thinking! Except 8 weeks from now (1130 AM eastern time), I plan to be standing in line waiting to board. :D

Fran,I am wondering the same thing about the casino in St Maarten.I haven't been, but it is surely a thought!Let me know if you find out anything.

We are heading back to port this Thursday to see the boat leaves as two of my dckids will be on it.The children still have no clue.I wish I was a bug on the wall when they find out. They aren't going to say anything till they are at port. After this trip,we won't be there again till we sail out.

Maria

Maria - that is so neat! I hope the children don't find out ahead of time.
I seem to remember someone saying the casinos are small; but don't remember much else. I'll have to do some searching I guess.
Are you doing the Under Two Flags Tour or the See & Sea Tour? We are talking about the See & Sea Tour as we did the other one. I did enjoy it; but would like to try something new.

fran

Fran,We are hoping they don't either. They still have a few days. They have been wanting to go on the Disney cruise line since we first went on it two years ago.We are hoping that they get hooked as we surely would love to go with them sometime. We are doing the Under two flags tour.I am glad you enjoyed it.Let me know what you find out about the casinos. We may or may not go there.I want to be able to enjoy the boat this time around as well when it isn't too crowded.

Maria

:earsgirl: Hi to all of you fellow disney cruise lover: Can't wait to get on the Magic on December 11th. I just have a quick question, I keep looking at the book for all of the thing you can do in port and I keep changing my mind about everything! We, my DD and I (Mom and daughter team) are doing the Butterfly Farm, but we had the Under two Flags tour, now I was wondering if we should go back to the Under Two Flags tour. Has any one been to one or the other and what did you think?

What is the weather like where we are going in December? I want to make sure I take the right clothes, but would like to get away with not having to take so much luggage! Last time for the four day, we took way too much! I mean one whole suitcase was shoes! LOL!

Thanks for all of your help, I am getting a lot of good tips from the board!

Millie (thejenjens Mom) :wave: ::MinnieMo

Good morning everyone.

Millie - we went on the Under Two Flags Tour a few years ago. It was a good overview of the island with some of the history thrown in. We made a few picture stops and then had about an hour to shop in Marigot. Sorry, can't help you with the Butterfly farm. I thought it was interesting.

Have never cruised in December; but I'm figuring it will be even warmer in the Islands than here in Florida. So, I'm taking shorts and short sleeves; and a pair of jeans and a light sweater (just in case).

Maria - we'd like to enjoy the ship when it's not too crowded too. That's why we are having trouble deciding what to do/or not do.

St Thomas is definitely Coral World and probably the Paradise Point Tram.

Everyone have a good day.

So... 8 weeks from now (11:19 am eastern time) we'll be at sea and I'll hopefully still be sleeping. :D
