Joe would look like Mr. Incredible in the adult jammies.
Perhaps a trip to the mall is due... :thumbsup2

I always try to tell the children how precious life is. We always pray for all involved....the victims, the emergency workers, the witnesses etc. Some people choose to shield their children from things like this, but I never have. Sad but true it is a part of life. They will grow up knowing the good, the bad, and the ugly. My sister dont like her children seeing anyone drink. I think if you shelter them that much there will be too much curiousity(?). We dont drink but have friends and family that do. My father and dh mother were both alcoholics and we choose not to drink because of this. Everyone has different opinions on these subjects. None right or wrong whichever works out best in your own situation. My heart just aches for those mothers. Our bond with our children is so strong I just could not bear to lose them. One of the children was only six years old.

I follow your theory that kids shouldn't be lied to or shielded from everything in life. I certainly don't force them to watch the news, etc. But if they do get exposed to it, we will have a very frank discussion about what happened, why, etc. Their little brains go into overdrive when they don't have all the info, they will fill in the blanks (which is usually worse than reality).

I had a conversation with a coworker a few weeks back, she had always told her son that babies come out of a hole in our belly buttons. He's in Jr High now and came home and told her she's a liar because they learned in biology the truth. My kids all know where babies come from-not because I gave them too much information-but because it is a natural thing just like pooping and peeing. Would you tell your kids pee comes out of your ears? Then why would you tell them that babies come from your belly button? My kids know that some babies come from private parts, and others have to be helped out by Doctors through the tummy. And they know it hurts and it takes alot of work to take care of a baby. Not because I want to scare them away from premarital sex, but because that is the truth. It is life plain and simple.

I love my children and just try not to make the wrong decisions. I know I am not always right. I just do the best I can. Its like the sc thing at Christmas. I cant let go of my "babies". I pay a sc to deliver gifts at midnight. I am not lying because we are there and he is too! On the other hand, if I ever get called out on it by them....I will still pay him to come. I just love it. He wakes them up and it is wonderful. If they catch on I will fess up. I may not want to but I will.

Back to the cruise, We got Christie and Howards passports in the mail today. They are going to be so excited when they get home from school. I am one step closer on the online registering.

I just checked on Ashleigh's passport, it is in process,

The children were so excited to get theirs and I bet Ashleigh will be too!!!!!

Is anyone thinking about a flu shot for the little ones or is that overthinking it?

Funny you should mention passports - I was just wondering how many of us got passports for the adults and the kids.

I have a passport for work, but my dh and kids don't. I chose not to get them this time, since they are not yet required and quite frankly, I can use the $300 for something else!

I made a pumpking pie yesterday, so fall is here, lol! That means winter is closer, whoo hooo. Who would have thought I would be looking forward to winter????

I asked Emilee if her school has any kind of drills in case someone breaks in to the school (although they really can just walk in). She said they don't. That is kind of scary!

I might be dating myself, but I remember atomic bomb drills - getting in the hall and putting your head towards the wall.

Wouldn't that just be the worst? Getting the flu or a bad cold and not being allowed on the ship. I remember the days when the kids were really young and would get a 'fever of unknown origin'. Yikes!

I hadn't thought about flu shots too much, but their ped. did recommend them at their school physicals this year. Maybe it is a good year to do it!

My dh has to get one every year or its the inevitable. I never get one, I only ever have sinus trouble. I think I may call the dr in the morning to get their opinion. I would be so upset!!!!

We used to have those drills too. I think we were told tornado drills.
I am 38 and my dh is 40(will turn 41 on the cruise) The guy that runs our race track wanted to have a special race for "older racers(must be over 35)"
I was like "WHATEVER"!!!!! I told him he might want to reword it before the race Saturday. Yes, I said Saturday, 4 weeks in a row. I am not saying anything as long as Christies not complaining. After all, I am doing something pertaining to our trip every day. My dh thinks I have flipped my lid. I have always been a planner but I am just beside myself this trip because of the cruise.

Me and dh had our passports and the children wanted theirs and I thought the law was changing at the end of the year and they changed it again. I convinced my mom to get hers for medical reasons and because of the law and she did it.

We will have to do open season probably on Tuesday. If anyone goes before then let me know how it is. Chrisite gets her braces back on Monday.

You are dating yourself! :rotfl:I thought I was the only one old enough to remember "Duck and Cover!"

For us it was sitting in the hall with our coats over our heads or going under our desks.

I can remember how rediculous we kids thought it was while we were sitting in the hallway at school with our coats over our heads during a nuclear drill. We would laugh at how silly the adults were to think that our coats could protect us from a nuclear bomb.

HA!HA! We had the bomb drills too, and thought the same thing (silly adults- we're all gonna be blown to smitherines!).
We also had earthquake drills, and my kids still do too. I can remember the first "big one" we had when I was a freshman at high school. It was aweful because it happened before school and there was total chaos. No one was in class like we had practiced so no one knew what to do. Pretty funny now that I look back...

DH's dad and step mom live in FL and are planning on meeting us at WDW prior to our cruise. I have sent them my highly detailed and overplanned itinerary since the 180 day mark and I have stressed how important it is to get early ADR's.

So my SIL calls me and asks for the itinerary again yesterday.... She said she'd let me know which meals they are going to come with us to??!!
I explained to her that they can't just "tag along" and that I would need to know ASAP so I can try to add to our ADR's or make new one's for them. Her response "oh, OK. I'll let you know in a couple weeks!":furious:
I sense a big misunderstanding about to happen. I absolutely will not cancel or change my ridiculously well planned meals because they want to tag along now. I have spent more time planning this vacation then my wedding I think!

Vent over.. Thanks for allowing the theraputic outburst. :smokin:

I got a passport for myself and my wife, none for the kids.

Mine was kind of imperative since my parents never had my original birth certificate. When I went to get a copy, I noticed after I got home that it said I was a female. I asked how I could get this fixed, and they told me I had to get a copy of my school records showing that I was a male. After 25 years, this was next to impossible. So I got a passport (i actually had one that expired 10 years ago) just to avoid that "possible problem."

At the high cost of kids passports and their 5 year lifespan, I will delay as long as possible.

I am in the same exact boat! My cousin, aunt and family cancelled the cruise part and now want to come to WDW with us for the 3 days before the cruise. BUT...I still haven't heard from them on their confirmation on where they are staying, so I have no idea if they will be with us for dinner, the Candlelight Processional, etc. I guess they are going to be on their own for dinner. I have a feeling that it is not going to be easy to just show up for meals!

I had to read that line twice! We have dogs not kids and at first I thought, well, they last longer than that, don't they? :rotfl2:

Speaking of people that JUST DON'T GET IT... (replying to Siily&I not Neal!)
Joe and I had dinner with some friends last week that are going on the New Years DCL cruise, 4-days same as ours. Here are a few of my favorite comments/questions:
~Do we HAVE to tip our wait staff and cabin attendant?
~Why are you so dressed up? (looking at our pics from semi-formal night on 3-day Wonder)
~We just figured we could 'sneak' the 2-yr old into the kids clubs with the other three kids (5,7&9 yr olds).
~We are taking the FREE shuttle from the airport to the hotel at the port, there's a free shuttle isn't there?

They are planning to stay a few days at AKL after the cruise - they haven't made reservations yet but that's their plan. Oh, did I mention there are NINE people traveling in the group? They didn't know about DME or MYW with food (which would save the patriarch a bundle of $$$) I suggested that they break up the kids, each group of adults take two or so, they would hear nothing of it! The thought of trying to get five adults and four kids to agree on anything for four or five days at the parks is beyond comprehension.
Just talking about their trip with them was making me feel ill. I flat out offered to meet with the matriarch of the group once a week to help them get things sorted out. They declined and said they would figure it out as they went. :confused3
:crazy2: Yup, I thought the same thing, these are the people that go on a $10K vacation to WDW and when they get home they tell everyone that it was the worst trip ever.

ON a lighter note this week has positively flown by and tomorrow is Friday already! Looks like rain for the first weekend of the balloon fiesta which is a bummer but we have eight days to fly so it will be fine, I'm sure.
DH's great nephew will be five on Saturday. I went out tonight and bought a cowboy hat, western shirt, cap guns with a nice holster and sheriff badge for $37! It is all really nice quality - I am so psyched! The guns are cap guns which will make a huge splash, of course I asked his parents before I even started shopping! I can't wait to see which member of the family he shoots first! :stir:

Y'all have a great TGIF - I'll check in Saturday eve.

:rotfl: okay...everyone has to show proof of their gender!

You can't just drop your shorts? :rotfl2:

With the way things are these days you'd need a DNA test or something huh? :thumbsup2

Maybe now is the time to check with mom and dad to see if they have a little secret they haven't shared with you...

.

I understand that some people don't "get it" but really, spending that kind of money to be miserable with 8 other people...I'd rather stay home.

My kids are SOOOO excited now! Cinderella (a fellow Dis'er) sent them a letter from the park telling them how much she is looking forward to seeing them! It's on the prettiest princess paper and is signed with her name. They are fighting over the letter, reading it over and over again!

I love the DIS! If it wasn't for all of the wonderful people here I don't think the kids would have ever been this excited to go.

I forgot! Riley and Emilee each got a Fairy Godmailer post card this week.

Emilee's was an irridescent Tinkerbell - she LOVES it!
Riley's is a Mickey postcard that says " I heard you are on your way! I can't wait to see in you December!"

Very cool!

Don't forget to send a thank you to your sender :-)
