December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

Who else is going to be at WDW before our cruise and after? We will be at BCV on 11/29 until the cruise and will be taking a van from BCV to port. We should arrive at the Port around 10:30.

I heard something about a new check in procedure where we get a number at check in and get called aboard based on that instead of waiting in line. Anyone else hear that or did I make it up??

We will be at AKL the night after the cruise and are flying home late Sun afternoon.

Let me know if there are any pen pals out there for my 6 yr old DS and 7 yr old DD (she'll be 8 by the time we cruise). They are starting to ask about their pals. Last year this made the trip so special for them (and DH and I!!).

I have to make our Palo and Spa resies!!!

I made our Palo Brunch reservations this morning - for Monday at 10:00. I know some of you are doing it on Sunday but that was too many things in one day for us (Character Breakfast, Brunch, Key West).

But there was a little bit of trouble. It wouldn't let me do it today - said it was too early so I called (877-566-0968 in case anyone else has trouble). They did not have me marked as a CC member - something about the group reservation. But they could tell that I originally booked on board so obviously I was a return guest. Not sure if everyone will have this problem or I was just "lucky". Anyway, I was on hold for about 10 minutes while they found a supervisor to fix it. Guess a Sunday on a holiday weekend there aren't a lot of people working. She was very nice about it tho and got it fixed for me.

I also booked Matt into the club. Does anyone know what that saves us? Do we still have to do anything on the first day? Do we get the beeper at the club in the afternoon?

We don't go to dinner at Palo because we enjoy having dinner with Matt (DS6) and our other table mates so much - and then the shows afterwards with other new friends. Don't want to miss that even one night.

Bump ... page 2 again ......

Guess I should have been clearer in my last note ...... Does the AAA group have the APL dining rotation? AND ... where is everyone????

Diane
We are set at APL for rotation. We will find out this week what time the 'early' seating is for that rotation. It will be something like 5:45/6:00/6:15. The change of the seating times is all very new so we haven't been given the details of our sailing yet.

Sorry it took me so long to answer. This weekend was Colton's birthday party (50 guests) and obviously I have been busy planning and cooking for the party. Just in time for our 90 day mark. :earboy2:

I almost had a stroke, I signed on and we're on the front page. I blew passed us as I was scrolling down toward the bottom of the 1st page and had to back up..... I didn't know what a nice feeling that was. How nice to be on page 1 again LOL :goodvibes !!

Linda,
Do you remember what time our character breakfast will be on Sun? What time are you thinking about for brunch??

Gailyn :wizard:
I believe our character breakfast is at 8:00 am on Sunday (Key West).

Hey Diane!

I am not sure when everyone else was wanting to have brunch but I am going Sunday at 10:30.

As for the CC mixup, you weren't the only one this morning. It looks like when they book reservations, even if the TA tells them you have cruised before, there must be a place they have to enter your CC info and if that isn't filled (or filled properly), it doesn't recognize you as a previous cruiser. From what it looks like, they have never heavily relied on that information until they recently went to the online pre-booking system. I am guessing they are probably working on training the CM's to make sure it is done right from now on.

Pre-registering for the clubs - I think the only thing this saves you is the paperwork you had to fill out before. You will probably still have to get the pager from the club. I doubt they give them to you when you check in or have them in your rooms. One less form for me to fill out at check in is fine with me. :wizard:

I think I have answered all the questions aimed at me. If not, just YELL and I will hear you. If anyone else booked with Kim has the issue of not being recognized as a CC member, let me know. Someone else had the same issue and she took care of it within minutes this morning.

Now that all that business is aside, we are all set and confirmed. We managed to get all the reservations we wanted. There was one that was sold out at first but when I went back later, it was available. Now, we just have to start packing! :wizard:

Talk to you later!!!

Brunch for Kim's Group:

I have emailed back and forth with a few of you regarding Brunch plans. Now that we are at the 90 day mark, are any of you still interested in Brunch on Sunday at 10:30? Please send me a PM to let me know for sure. I would hate to have empty seats when we get there and have someone else miss out that would have been able to make it. So let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks!!

Jeanna

Thanks Jeanna - all of my questions have been answered. I agree that being able to do the Kids Club paperwork online is a great benefit. My brain goes on vacation the minute I get off the airplane and remembering things like my son's birthday just become more and more difficult. So if all I have to do it pick up a beeper I think vacation-mindset can handle that. :tilt:

BUT are you crazy ...50 PEOPLE for a party? Was it at your house? Hope you had a lot of help with the cooking (and clean up).

Diane :fish:

LIZARDMAN (sorry, can’t remember your real name and I’m too lazy to look through 30+ pages) - we changed our room to 2148.

YES … I broke down an upgraded from inside to outside. I’ve always done inside (except Alaska) because we’re never in the cabin AND … the less I pay for each cruise, the more cruises I can afford. :boat: But we got upgraded on our May Carnival Cruise and it was so nice to have light in the room and know when it was morning. :sunny: And it didn't cost much to upgrade through Kim at AAA with the extra $75 room credit. WOO HOO …. Look at me the big spender. :teeth:

I know this is one of the "noisy" rooms, but I’ve been on 20+ cruises, almost always on the bottom deck and I’ve never had a problem with noise. Had a LOT of creaking on one cruise when the seas were very rough. I’m guessing that we won’t even notice the noise. If it wakes us up on port days, that’s a good thing.

Thought I'd check in and see what I missed this week. I'm in the process of planning Nicole's 8th birthday party. She wants to do Laser Tag. I'll have to invesigate this. There's a place near us, but I've never been there. Last year we had her party at the ice rink and that was very fun. Also nice because it was a set time. The last time we had a birthday party at the house it went on for hours!!!! Then I had to clean up.

Hope everyone has a nice Labor Day weekend. We're going to a neighborhood feastival that we do every year. The kids love the games and the poney rides. Afterward, we'll walk to Greg's (DH) parents house and spend the evening there. They always kick off clam season with a big clam bake and steak roast. All Greg's siblings come and their little ones. It's one of our favorite family events of the summer .:sunny:

Have a nice night!

Gailyn :wizard:

Gailyn - what time does the party start at Greg's parents? Sound like a good one - we'll be there!!! :cool1:

Let us know how it goes with Nicole's birthday. We're in the process of planning Matt's, but having a DISCUSSION about whether to have a small one with just one or two friends (Rick) or a big one with all the kids from his new Kindergarten glass (Me). And we're running out of time to decide!!! I wanted to do it at a Gymnastics place (obstacle course, slides, etc) but we just got an invitation from a girl in his class who is doing it there the week before. So that's out. I don't like the bowling parties (too loud and too many kids have it there). Thinking about a park with covered pavilion, playground, grill for hotdogs, pinnata, bring in someone to entertain for a bit. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to reserve the pavilion. But I better get moving and so SOMETHING.

Was in the neighborhood, thought I'd stop by!! I read through a few posts..... I'm not sure I'm seeing enough enthusiasm seeing as you all are leaving me behind in less than three months!! Woo hoo for you!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Sarah, you are in charge of remembering my address so you can send me a post card! princess: Maybe Dad will even let you send me a picture or two? The one where you are all on deck holding up your sail away drinks!! pirate:

Diane,
We've always done big birthday parties with lots of kids. We have family over for dinner and cake etc. on their actual birthday. In nursery school (age 4) the kids took the kids from their class to a local kiddie amusement park. Small place, had maybe 20 rides. Included lunch. Parents came. Very fun and lots of cute pictures. In kindergarten - bowling party for Matt and Nicole's was at a local nature center, last year in first grade Nicole had the ice skating party. It's a nice way to get to know some parents.

Well, the festival yesterday was great. Perfect weather. The kids 1/4 mile fun run was cute. Nicole came in first for the girls and Matt came in second with the boys. All got ribbons and treat bags. They enjoyed the poney rides and kids games later in the day (water balloon toss and other silly games).

Then right before dinner Nicole came in sobbing. She was playing outside at Grandma's with the cousins and fell. Her arm was curved at a funny angle and off the emergency room we went.

Both big bones in her right forearm are broken. We went to the Cleveland Clinic and they were fantastic. There was an orthopaedic surgeon available and he had to "mush" the bones back into place and then put on a cast. Thankfully, the "after" X-Ray looked great. The bad news is she'll be in a cast for about 8 weeks. No soccer, no gymnastics and no baseball. Thankfully, she should be ok by the time we cruise!!

They gave her an IV of morophine when she came in and that made the X-Ray process less painful. She was so funny with a "snout full of morophine" Definately not feeling any pain. She was the happiest kid around. Greg and I thought hmmm, maybe they could give this to her in the mornings when we have to get Miss Grumpy up for school LOL!!!

Oh- before I forget, I was trying to book Palo and it didn't show any availability for a table of 3 -4. Anyone else have a problem??

Have a great day. Greg and his Dad are off to the Browns game and they have an Indians game tonight due to a rain out earlier in the season. Busy day for them. I'm home with Nicole and we're going to watch movies all day.

Gailyn

Oh don't worry Vicki....there's enough excitement  in this house...for both this trip and next years!!!

Started the football season so the girls are both busy with cheerleading. :cheer2: I, as coach of the 3rd and 4th grade squad, am also busy trying to keep them all in line. Also trying to mend the messed up ankle/leg that I hurt at our first practice.....real great example for the girls of what NOT to do.

Have a great day!

Hey Gailyn!

Looks like most spots for 3-4 people are booked in Palo. You may want to try again at the 75 day mark to see if they release more seats. We aren't sure if they released all of Palo or if they hold back for each booking time (Concierge - 105 days, CC - 90 days, then everyone else - 75 days). Booking online is still very new so the secrets haven't all escaped yet.

Just the last reminder about the brunch... anyone one from Kim's group going on Sunday (Key West) at 10:30 with the group?

Jeanna

Gailyn - how terrible for Nicole. I hope that she is feeling better (without the morphine - I mean). But it is definitely good that the cast will be off by the time we cruise.

Jeanna - the Sunday brunch time doesn't work well for us. But we were fortunate to book for Monday 10:00 for 2. I did it on the 90 day mark.
