Dec UY borrowing

I don't know why I can't figure this out...I have a Dec UY with no 2012 remaining points. I have 2013 points coming this December (Dec 13 UY). If I want to make a reservation for February 2014 does that mean I have to borrow the points from my 2013 allotment? Or are they not considered borrowed since I will get them before I actually use them in February?

You need to have available points in your UY that covers the reservation dates.

In your case your 2013 points will cover your 2014 reservation.

Thanks Bill. I normally don't have trouble remembering how this works, maybe it is the 15 teenage girls that are currently spending the night at my house messing with my brain right now!

as bill said, they are not considered borrowed.

UY tells you when you can "use" the pts. dec 2013 UY pts are valid for stays from dec 1, 2013 to nov 30, 2014. a feb 2014 stay falls in that period so the pts are "current."

UY has nothing to do with when you book the reservation.

OP, I feel your confusion. It's hard w/ a Dec. UY to not really think of the '13 as your points you are using in '13. You MAY if you borrow during the year or use them in Dec. but otherwise, you're almost like a year behind all the time. I'm always in a fog and have to "think". Not my forte.

Even with a February UY I get confused sometimes. I started writing it all out in sentences and then I make a calendar as well. Whatever works to push it into my brain!

Take a few minutes to review the Understanding Use Year Thread. Then make your self a chart as the thread suggests:

Points in the 2013 use year are valid for vacations between 12/1/2013 and 11/30/2014.

Points in the 2014 use year are valid for vacations between 12/1/2014 and 11/30/2015.

Points in the 2015 use year are valid for vacations between 12/1/2015 and 11/30/2016.

Etc.

You'll soon get the hang of it.
