Okay, help me out here because my brain is absolutely fried from work/life stuff of late and I have a note in my calendar reminding me to bank my points, but...I don't need to do that, right? The December use year is SO CONFUSING y'all.

You're right, you don't need to bank points today. You are in your 2023 UY, and you don't have any 2023 points left, so nothing to bank.

Those 29 points in your 2024 UY are currently good for trips that occur from December 1, 2024 through November 30, 2025. If you want to use them on or after December 1, 2025, then you will need to bank them, but you can't do that until December 1 of this year when the new UY begins for you.

THANK YOU. It's so confusing. I just need to think of my points as belonging to the following year. We have those 71 Dec 2024 points tied up in a reservation for Jan 2025 so that's perfect. If I don't use those, then I bank by July 31.

We have a September UY, so actually almost as confusing. I made a spreadsheet long ago where I list everything chronologically - New UY, trip dates, etc. - otherwise I’d never keep it straight.

I just look at is as if “Dec 2024 Use Year” really means “Good for 1 Year From December 2024”.

Can’t use them before Dec 2024, and can’t use them starting Dec 2025. I have December also, and it took a while for me to wrap my brain around it.

Sure you can! You would just have to borrow or bank.

Think of it in terms of past or future. Dec '23 has past so those are your current points, Dec '24 is in the future, so those are next years points

Good reminder to have in case you have points in the current Use Year (or holding tentative reservations), so if you did, you may want to bank them.

I received a recent email, which I found baffling - requesting me to pay my internet invoice - when I logged it it showed balance due $0.00 as I paid it over a week ago..

The dues emails are not sent automatically. We get them every month even when we are auto pay.

THIS! It took me a little while to grasp the Dec UY too. I always have to literally say the dates the points are good for outload. lol

i.e. "My Dec 23 UY points are good 12/1/23 - 11/30/24."

I too found a spreadsheet to keep track of Current UY points, Points Used and Banked points.

Dec 23 UY points are for my 2024 vacation planning, Dec 24 UY points are for 2025...

I'm so glad you asked this question! I've actually borrowed points from my 2025 year thinking it was next year's points but really it would be for the Dec. 2025 to November 2026.

So in theory you could be paying for dues on your 2024 points at the beginning of the year 2024 (or in monthly installments if EFT) before you even use them in 2025? Yikes, I just made an offer on a December UY contract. I currently have an April UY and never really thought about UY before.

I have a Sept UY, so I understand your challenge. On 9/1 I banked 36 points of my UY 2024 into UY 2025. My spreadsheet keeps me on top of things, but I still need to rethink it from time to time.

Maybe since I have always had Dec use year, I don't find it cofusing. I would find it more confusing for those people that have different use years.

Yes. But this is no different than banking the points from a Feb UY, paying the dues on them and not using them until the following UY. Or in the reverse argument, you can borrow the Dec UY 2025 points with the knowledge that you already paid for them.

We have a Dec UY at BWV. We won't get 2042 points. No one will. Our last points will "drop" Dec 1, 2041 but we will get the bill for the MFs on those points in Dec 2040. We have every intention of running out the clock on BWV and will borrow all 2041 points to book a reservation (or two) during our 2040 UY.
