My husband and I are planning to go to WDW either the week of 11/27 or the week of 12/4. I've been to WDW tons of times. My husband has been with me for a couple of one day trips as well as for a week trip in 1/03. However, the week trip was with my niece who was a week shy of 5 at the time.

We stayed at ASMu, and that really sold him on staying on-property. I had planned on staying at a moderate resort for our "grown-up" trip this Christmas. For one thing, if we go the week of 12/4, I really don't want to me at the value resorts with the Pop Warner groups.

I've priced it and the difference is $445!!! I think that's a big price difference for not that big of a quality difference. Do you agree? I'm almost of the opinion that staying offsite would be a better option, but I have two concerns with that. #1 - I'd want to stay on-site if we ever went back with our own kids or nieces and will staying off-site this time ruin it for me for next time. #2 - He's not a Disney fan; it's a big deal that he acknowledged staying on property was a good thing. He's not really big on staying off-property. How can I convince him of the off-property advantages (besides $$)?

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I won't be of any help to you because we are of the opinion there is NO reason to stay off-site. The easy access to your resort without having to leave the property is great. And during that time of year (we went last year same time) there is so much to do at night it really is great to have the convenience of on-site rooms. Have you looked into the non-Disney hotels on property? They run some great deals on room rates.

We stayed in at POR last trip and the difference was worth it to us. And it was our first grown up trip! Whatever you decide have a great trip, it really is a good time to go!

The Disney resorts at Christmas are SO nice. Not sure what I would do, but the decorations at Disney are a lot better then most moderate hotels I have stayed at!

Plus you have to add in some other costs if you stay off site. I would not stay off site without a rental car so if you weren't driving or renting a cart there is an expense, plus $8 a day for parking.

Tiggerkeeper,
Do you consider POR worth $445 more (for a week) than a value resort? If so, why? Since we may go during PW week, I'd really prefer to not do a value, but the price difference is pretty big.

I mentioned it to my husband last night, and his reason for wanting to stay on property is the bus system. We always rent a car in Orlando, but he said that way if he wants to go back to the room one day when I'm not ready, he could just take the bus.

If you like the values, and really would feel bad about spending the extra money, I would go for the values.

But DO NOT go the week of Dec 4th Go a week earlier and you will avoid any possible cheerleader related chaos.

Good Luck!
