I finally looked at the hours for our trip in december 6-12 and noticed that MK and MGM are open later than they have been on our previous trips during this time.

What do you think there reasons for this is? Do you think they are trying to recoup some of the money from the hurricanes by adding hours. I think that is a smart thing to do and believe me i dont mind the long hours. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion was on this if anyone had one!!

Thanks in advance

MGM is open later because of the Osborne lights. The nights of the MMVMCP, MK is open until 6 other than that they will be open later because of the Christmas themes.

MGM is open later than 2002, the last time they had Osborne Lights. In 2002, Fantasmic was at 6:00 and park closing was at 7:00, this year it's 7:00 and 8:00. I think they are planning on bigger crowds, I'm sure they will promote the return of Osborne Lights on the local stations.

But even then, it is still if you are going the 1st 2 weeks of December the crowds should be very dooable. You got to remember that schools will not get out for winter break until the 3rd week of December. By that time is when you should start seeing the crowds.

Crowds are never a HUGE problem during this week. We always go this week and it is the most special and magical time in the parks. We are Disney in Dec vets because there is not better place. And as a School teacher why would I want to go when the kids are out of school. :-) kidding

I know that the park hours are available now for December but I am interested in the events (ie. parades, fireworks, etc) for December. Is there are website that lists these events?

It's disneyworld.com not disney.com

or just click the link from the above post.

When the calendar on the disney world website come uo click on the date you are travelling and that will show the specific times for parades & fireworks.

Is it me, or do the hours for AK seem really short???
I thought they use to open at 800am so you could see the animals better on KS.

:D Will MK really be open until 9:00PM on Mondays?? Past years it has closed at 7:00 and going by that we made a PS at the California Grill for 6:00 to see Wishes.

Should I change my PS for later or wait and see if the MK hours change?

 Thought i had everything planned...such is life with Disney:rolleyes: .

9am has been the standard opening time for AK, at least in the three years since 9/11. The park opens at 8am on Monday and Friday to guests staying at Disney resorts (Extra Magic Hour).

The 5pm closing is also pretty typical about 80% of the year.

I've heard rumors that the limited hours have to do with keeping zoological accreditations, blah, blah, blah. Regardless, with the size of the park now, there's little difficulty in getting through it in a single day. The 5pm closing just means that you can hop over to another destination like Epcot or Downtown Disney to enjoy your evening.

I wouldn't expect the hours to be reduced. If anything, the schedulers tend to start out conservatively and expand the hours later when necessary. It's very rare that announced hours are subsequently reduced.
