Dec. AP code for AKL last year

Does anybody out there remember what rate they got Dec. 02 for AKL rooms with the AP codes? We are going this Dec. and would like to stay at AKL if the price is right. I am seriously looking at purchasing APs since we plan on going in Dec. then March, and Oct. or Nov. next year too. I know codes are not always the same each year but thought maybe this would give me something to base it on. I would like to know what rate you got for which type of room. Thanks in advance!

I don't remember the code, but we paid $109 for a parking lot view at AKL. That was the advertised AP or FL Resident price for Nov & Dec up to a few days before Christmas.

We got a rate of $159 for a savanah view. This was with a code from mousesavers so the ap rate may be a bit lower.

The December Code rate for Concierge was $249.
The December AP rate was $239. The last night that it could be booked was December 19th.

$239 for AP rate for concierge? That's great! We would really like to do the Sunrise Safari but since its only offered to concierge guests we figured we would not be doing it. Well, maybe we will get to if they offer a similiar rate this year!

You'd love the Sunrise Safari....... we've done it once on each trip to AKL.
The first time we booked concierge was for December of 2001. The restriction was that your first night had to start no later than December 25.
For 2002, the restriction changed a bit. First a code was released for the same time period as the AP rate in 2001 (first night of stay no later than 12/25) and the room rate was $10 more. In October or so, the AP rate was released, with the same rate for 2001- but the first night of stay had to be no later than 12/19. Our first night wasn't scheduled until 12/22, so we kept our code ressie and paid $249 a night. We thought that we ended up with a great deal though, because rack rate for Concierge was $595. Of course it's gone up again.........

I'm glad that the information helped, and that you get a chance to stay at AKL... some days I just couldn't get DH to leave the hotel!! He was SOOOOOO relaxed that he was happy doing absolutely NOTHING all day!!

They only offer the Sunrise Safari on Tuesdays and Saturdays, so make your trip plans accordingly.
There are a limited number of spots- they use either one or two safari vehicles, and you'd need to be in Concierge the night before the Sunrise Safari (thats when the information envelope is put on your doorknob).

If you plan on two Concierge nights (the Monday or Friday night before the Safari and the Tuesday or Saturday after), budget-wise it wouldn't be overwhelming.

The Sat. one would work out well for us. Our trip is planned for Dec. 6-11. I have a reservation already at BCV but we were planning on dropping the Sat. & Sun. from our reservation there if we could get AKL "affordably" since weekend points (Fri. & Sat.)for DVC are double the weeknight points. We could just stay at AKL Fri. & Sat. night then move over to BCV. Well, providing that the rates are that good anyway!

I've heard on these boards that they might start requiring a minimum night stay to do the Sunrise Safari. I have no idea if they actually will do this but I thought you should be aware of it. I thought I heard that they might make the minimum 3 nights.

Don't be overly concerned. Just ask when you make your reservation and double check one time before you go.
