Howdy All!

I will be at WDW from Dec. 8 to 11, staying at the Pop Century. Anyone else there during that time? It's my first time going to WDW during the holiday season, so I am very excited! :santa:

Any holiday season stuff I should check out? I hear some people say that this is the best time of year to visit WDW. What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi and :welcome: to the DIS boards. I was booked at POP for almost the same time (7-13) but just changed over to the Dolphin. But, I love POP...will be there for my third time next month!!!
December is a terrific time to visit WDW. Be sure to try and check out the various resorts and their holiday decorations!! The parks are all very festive and there are a lot of wonderful things going on.

Hi, and welcome to the DIS Boards. I'll be at Pop also, solo, from Dec 7th to the 18th. It's my first holiday season trip too. :goodvibes

Hi Goofy4Tink!!

Thanks for the welcome and the info!! I did not think about Holiday decorations at the resorts. I will have to check some of them out.

Any Holiday events that are your particular favorites? Have you been to the Very Merry Christmas Party?

What is Pop Century like? Please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi disneyfav4ever!! :wave2:

We both have some things in common: staying at Pop Century, going solo and visiting WDW for the first time during the Holidays!! :santa:
You are staying a lot longer than I am, though. Mine is a whirlwind trip. I fly into Orlando on Friday morning, Dec. 8 and fly out Monday evening, Dec. 11. I only had a couple of vacation days left, so I cannot stay longer. I am probably going to be totally useless at work on Tuesday, Dec. 12! :surfweb: I may need a triple shot of espresso that morning!!

As time gets closer, I will submit a post to this thread in an effort to schedule a meet sometime, somewhere during my visit. I always like to meet fellow Disney fans!!

Well, I love the Candlelight Processional in Epcot..have to do it every Dec trip. I love the Epcot storytellers in each country in the World Showcase. I try to do one MVMCP each trip. Yes, it gets crowded but the atmosphere is so wonderful. That week-end is a big meet time. MouseFest will be in full swing, so you will see a ton of internet folks....many meets will be set up. We have an 'informal' meet at Jellyrolls over on the Boardwalk that's been a ton of fun.
POP is terrific. It's not all that big, so it's fun to just take a nice walk around it. The gift shop is one of the more complete gift shops I've been into. The food court has very nice variety, at least I think so.
Anything more specific?? Just ask.

My plans so far are kind of specific, but flexible. I know what restaurants I want to eat at - but keep on moving around dates and times. Also, I'm planning on going to MVMCP twice, seeing CP, and the Osborne lights. I'm also going to be seeing a lot of the resorts - since that's were many of my planned ADR's are located. (Including the Poly, Boardwalk, Contemporary, GF, AK Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge.) Also, I want to stop at the Beach Club for a sundae at Beaches & Cream. (The restaurants and food are some of my favorite things about Disney.) Also, since Mouse Fest is going on there, I want to take advantage of that as well.

Hi disneyfav4ever:

It sounds like you are going to be very busy!! I also want to go to the MVMCP, CP and Osborne. I hear that some of the resorts really get decked out for the holidays, especially the Grand Floridian!! Are there special parades during the holidays, too?

I will be keeping an eye out for the list of events scheduled for Mousefest. It sounds like a lot of fun and a great chance to meet other Disney fans. :santa:

:goodvibes Ill be staying at the POP 7Dec-14Dec. Will be attending the famous Jellyrolls meet. :rotfl2: Maybe will all could meet up sometimes :cool1:

I will be at POP from Dec 11 - 17!

I am new to the boards and would love to meet any other DISers while I am there.

I have a tentative schedule for my trip:

Friday, December 8: MK and MVMCP (bought ticket). Probably arrive at MK at about 2 p.m.

Saturday, December 9: Epcot & Mega Mouse Meet at Dolphin. CP that night.

Sunday, December 10: MK and Studios for Osborne Lights.

Monday, December 11: AK and maybe Winter Summerland Mini-Golf. Fly out at 7 p.m.

I might join a few "meets" at Epcot on Saturday and at MK on Sunday.

I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

My mom and I will be at Pop Century~ Dec.5-12 and we are going to MVMCP on Dec. 7 This will be our first time going during Christmas time and we are really looking forward it all!

Only a little over 3 months to go!!!!! :Pinkbounc  :cheer2: :cool1:

I am going to be solo too.. I have a conference in orlando 12/11 - 12/13 so i am going to spend the weekend at WDW. I am thinking i'll have enough vacation time to be there on friday too. If anyone wants to meet, let me know.

I am still considering staying at POP due to cost, but was unsure about how I would feel solo there. POFQ is so small, so I thought less walking to my room and every place else. Anyone that has stayed solo at POP have any opinions/advice about solo female at POP.

Hi rkmassa,

Since my first posting to this thread in April, I have stayed at Pop, doing a solo trip in May. I was in the 50's Building (by the Tramp statue) and that was a good place to be. There are two pools within walking distance and the main hall is a short walk away. I did not pay for a preferred location, either. I would suggest requesting to be in the 50's Building when you check in.

Pop is well lit and I always feel safe at WDW. I like the food court a lot because it has a good variety of choices (better than other value resorts).

Do you have other concerns about being solo at Pop? I have only stayed there once, but maybe I can offer some help.

Hope this is helpful. Maybe I see you there!

Thanks. That does help. I just have never taken a solo trip. Still in the planning stages.
