Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Is anyone else doing the Long Bay Beach tour on Tortola? We are currently signed up for it, but I am on the fence. I originally wanted to book our own excursion, but they all seemed difficult for DD4.

Any ideas?

we are just taking a taxi to Brewers Bay beach and when we were there in May we took a taxi to Cane Garden Bay beach much cheaper then going to a beach thru DCL

Oh they do sound a LOT alike:goodvibes Marika says please get Julia onto the kids thread (or is she being surprised by the cruise? I can't remember who all is doing that:rolleyes1). I'll talk to her about the book and let you know ASAP:thumbsup2 THANKS

Julia posted on the kids thread a while ago, but nobody has posted on it since then. Here's a reminder to everyone that it can be found at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1657190&page=4

Happy Friday!

I've got 2 cheese lovers too. However, mine like the cheap cheese :thumbsup2. Both of the kids could eat cheddar, colby, or American all day. Cameron loves pepper jack too. As long as they like the cheap cheese, perhaps I shouldn't introduce them to the expensive cheeses or they could break me with the amount of cheese they eat :rotfl:

So funny, I have a cheese hater in the family. He will eat cheese on Pizza and now (that he's 8 1/2) just began eating a Grilled Cheese but that is as far as he will go. I'm a cheese lover - need some cheese love to rub off on him!

Beachbratt--DCL definitely has Brennan down as being 8 y/o. I just don't understand why our excursion list (if you log on to my cruise plans) says it's for 8+ and we are all booked but if you just go under the excursions on DCL.com the exact same one says it's for 10+. I printed out a copy of the screen showing he's booked and at a child price to bring along just in case. I wonder if they changed it after a certain sail date. If anyone has the stamina to hike in our family it's him!

Hadley, I hope Marika is feeling even better today. I got an email from my friend from my neighborhood saying her DD 7 was hospitalized during the night with complications from H1N1. Luckily she's doing better today, but so scary. I'm still hoping to avoid illness before the cruise but the circle of friends/neighbors getting sick around us is bigger and bigger by the day it seems. We were at a skating party last night for Brennan's elementary school and so many kids were coughing around us. I know it can be a variety of reasons they are coughing but I made sure they scrubbed good the minute they got home and had them purrell their hands the minute we left too.

I am a fellow cheese lover. I used to babysit and house sit for my former boss who was in the Navy and stationed in MD but from Wisconsin originally when I was in my early 20's. I refused to take money from him and instead each time he went home, knowing that I loved cheese, he'd bring me back blocks of cheese as a thank you!

We booked through DVC also and I don't have that page. All we have is a bunch of useless pages for Transfers (If we want to book them) and pages for each of us regarding if we booked flights (which we didn't). The only ones we need is the first, maybe the second. We completed all our paperwork online and drive to port.

Thanks! Rosemary

We booked through DVC and do have that page. But my understanding is we don't have any cash out of pocket except the $95 fee to convert points to ressie point/make the reservation and our onboard charges. Does anyone know of something different?

Spoke with Sue with DVC this morning. She confirmed that the taxes and government fees ARE included and "paid" in the points used to book the cruise. I told her I just didn't want to be surprised by seeing them added to our onboard account. She said no worries and that the only thing we would see on our onboard account is if we book any DCL excursions or make any purchases/charges.

That's why I suggested calling it probably is just a mistake on there part but for some reason its not it would be good to know ahead of time I know DCL isn't that great about notifying us about changes we were supposed to be going to St Croix and some people still have not received a letter about that I personally don't think 8 is to young to do a hike and go to the beach if you wanted to just go to Cane Garden Beach on your own there are a bunch of open air taxis when you get off the ship and its $6 per person one way that's is what we did in May... Was anyone here able to get in on Disney's UP and Monsters inc. deal at target. I stopped by the target where my workshop was Wednesday and Thursday and they were out of Monsters Inc. :(

I see there is beer/wine/margarita tastings, art of the appetizer/dessert..etc. Do you sign up for these things when you get on the ship or do you only sign up the day of that activity? Are there any special activities with it being the holiday season?

OMG I just called MS to see if I could get us into a Savannah View Room since the only thing available when we booked was a standard view, well they didn't have any Savannah view rooms left but they had a Concierge...:woohoo::woohoo: (Sunrise Safari here we come) :woohoo::woohoo:

Awesome!! That will be so fun!

No Targets In Canada :(:sad1::confused3

Oh, feel so sorry for y'all! Target is one of my favorite stores! Clean, super nice people and good prices. I make at least 2 trips a week to my local Target!

As far as Up, DD will probably get it for Christmas from somebody so we're holding off for now.

Looks like Julia has been posting on a different thread. I didn't realize that there were 2 kids' threads out there but this one has been a lot more active: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2129312&page=7

Wow. That explains it! The one we were using is the one linked on the main cruise meet thread for Dec. 5: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1674660. So glad we discovered this. Perhaps we can at least get the 2nd one linked on that page? Not sure how to make that happen, or get them merged....

I went to BB after not having any luck at target and they were sold out there too, wanted to try for the talking pup.

I saw UP with the the Doug Dog at Toys R Us this week. We opted and bought UP on Blueray on Amazon the other day. I think it will arrive next week.

Thanks!
