Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Hi again,

Can someone please tell me how to get the "mouse surfers" logo onto my signature page?

I'd also like to be able to copy it for a door magnet, etc. if possible...can someone send me the link to the original? I know someone on this thread must have designed it...

Thanks very much, & Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving to all!

Frank

Life has kept me very busy over the last few months so I'm just trying to catch up on this thread now. My DW and I have three daughters (12, 8 & 6) and I'm wondering what everyone is planning for shore excursions?

Welcome back Frank! Was wondering what happened to you.

For us, shore excursions are not high on our priority list. Since my mom's coming along too, she's familiar with St. Thomas and she wants to do shopping with the DW. Tortola, which we're really excited about, we are registered with the Kayaking off Peter Island and then we might take a ferry over to these pools that some are raving about on this thread. If not, we'll find a cab to take us to some beaches.

Peter Island, well, the kiddies will stay with their programs, and mommy and daddy will enjoy the adult beach.

Question for the experienced cruisers; are people allowed to swim out to the Flying Dutchman? Or is it off limits?

Thanks for the welcome back Tower. Thanks for the info on your shore excursions.

FYI, you cannot swim to the Flying Dutchman. It is off limits.

However, I did read somewhere that you can get closer to it by taking the jet-ski excursion. I'm not positive on that, but I read something somewhere...

Does anyone know or have an educated guess if they will show the new Christmas Carol Movie on the ship during our cruise?

hi deesandisney fan,
my husband says they will, but he really doesn't know for sure.
It just would seem appropriate.
It looks good though on the previews!

I have only taken Disney transportation when just DS8 and I go just the 2 of us for Star Wars weekends. When ds12 and dh come along we get a rental car. I don't trust myself enough to not get lost even with a GPS. Any how, we were at Kidani in June and I found the busses to be great--much better than when we've stayed at Pop Century or any of the moderate resorts. I just thought when we stayed at the other resorts, the busses seemed to take longer and were more crowded. We were first to get on the bus (before Jambo House) and first to get off the bus from the parks.

We'll be at MNSSHP on Halloween night and can't wait! We fly down 3 weeks tomorrow. We have a haunted hay ride scheduled that night at Ft. Wilderness after dinner at Chef Mickeys and hope to see Wishes while on the ride. We are staying in Kidani for 2 nights and trying out Bay Lake Towers the third/final night.

!

To post pictures, you have to first upload them to a site like photobucket and then copy and paste the IMG code.

did you or anyone here ever do the haunted hayride before?
it sounds really fun.

The Princess & the Frog premiere and Jim Carrey's Christmas Carol? That would be a great pair of events to watch on a day at sea if the kids get bored (NOT!). Maybe DW and I will get a show or 2 in while kiddies are busy.

Welcome new people.

They usually run any Disney/Miramax/Touchstone pictures that are in theatres on the cruise as well:thumbsup2

:cheer2:Finally on our 7th cruise the upgrade fairy has struck:cheer2: Our TA jsut emailed, DCL has offered to let us upgrade from our category 11 to a 9 for $150:cheer2:

Congratulations Hadley!!
I doubt that would be available for us as having adjoining outside cabins would mean an upgrade would be to adjoining navigator's balcony which I assume's already filled up.

Just the same, I hope you enjoy it! :cool1:

7 Weeks from Today and The family leaves Canada for the USA!

Counting down the minutes now!!!!!!

That's awesome. I wish we could be that lucky. We tend to book a Cat 9 on Deck 2 with a pothole. We are DVC members and never seem to have enough points for all three of us for a stateroom with a Verandah. Maybe this will be the year we buy more points.

Come to think of it, we haven't received our confirmation letter from DVC or DCL regarding the change to Tortola, so I guess there is still time for that.

Thanks! Rosemary

Rosemary! A stateroom with a pothole??? My Gawd! Does that mean your cabin floor leaks???:scared1:

Opps! Hope my co-workers don't read this thread, I'll never hear the end of that one since I'm a technical writer too.

I will say one cruise we had a squeaky ceiling. We were on Deck 2 under the main walkway. That was pretty bad.

Hi

This will be our first cruise. We are really looking forward to it. We are DVC members but did not book this cruise using points. We are category 8, I believe with late dining.

My dh and I will be traveling with our two kids, dd 12 and ds 10. DS is looking forward to the Oceaneer Club, where as dd is concerned there won't be things for kids her age to do that she will enjoy. I am certain once she gets on the cruise ship she'll have fun. Any advice for a first time cruiser from you veterans would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome Sara!

Well, I'm no DCL vet, but I've been on this board for about 1.5 years now and have picked up some info. The main thing is 'IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT CRUISE!!!'

When we first started, I downloaded all of the DCL podcasts that were posted online. I believe the link is http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/planning-library/podcast/ but I can't get it to work right now. In general appearances, these videos appear different from those I downloaded earlier. The earlier versions were hosted by 'The Disney Mom', but I cant get them to work today.

The podcasts are set up for every age group and your DD will likely find what she sees as something she'll want to do.

7 weeks to go and we'll all be meeting up!

Hi Sara,

Your kids will have a great time. We took my nephew (then 14) in 2007 and all he wanted to do was sit in the room and watch tv. After several days we finally got him to go to Ocean Quest and check out the ship simulator we read about. He reluctantly went and we didn't see him till the end of the cruise, well aside for breakfast and dinner. After wards he told us he had wished he went down sooner.

Here is the link: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/youth-clubs/ocean-quest/

Hope this helps.

Lanyard Team,
We have a few options at different price points. For those willing to chip in on lanyards for this entire DIS Meet group, please PM me with your preference of the below options:
1. Solid color lanyard with bulldog clip plus badge holder with color printed nametag inside. Total Estimated Price = $90.00.
2. Same as #1 but with each cruiser printing out their own nametag from supplied template. Total Estimated Price = $60.00.
3. Customized lanyard (solid color with words written around it) with bulldog clip plus badge holder with color printed nametage inside. Total Estimated Price = $225.00.
4. Same as #3 but with each cruiser printing out their own nametag from supplied template. Total Estimated Price = $195.00.

Of course, the price per lanyard team member will depend on how many people chip in on this. Also, the portion of the estimate I have set aside for color copies is $30.00, but actual price depends on how many of us there are and how many I can get on a page, which I won't know until later.

So, if you are willing to split this cost with the rest of us who are willing to chip in, please PM me with your vote for which option above you would prefer. Since we don't know for sure how much it will cost/lanyard team member, you can also give me the maximum you are willing to contribute if budget is your top priority and you don't really care which option we choose.

One more thing: if you don't mind including your e-mail address in the PM to me, it will make further Lanyard Team communication much easier.

Thanks!
-Amy

On Tortola we are taking a charter by Patouche to the Baths. It is a catarmaran that takes us over to the Baths to snorkle and explore. The crew will actually guide us through the rocks. On the boat they have beverages and snacks. It costs $80 for an adult and $50 for a child (6-12). Their site is www.patouche.com. One of my coworkers took their charter to Peter Island and thoroughly enjoyed the snorkling and swimming. They provide a taxi to the marina(about 20min). There is still room on this charter for more people.
