Just thinking aloud......

I was starting to plan a trip for Dec. 4-11 next year. I have to be concerned about Pop Warner..don't I? Care to share any horror strories? We'd probably stay in a deluxe...so I may be able to avoid them. Does it seem to affect attendence at all though? I think that's my #1 priority (lowest crowds whatsoever).

What other events usually go on this week? Discon? Mousefest? Do they have any impact whatsoever on attendence? I was hoping for DVC accomodations for part of my stay. I bet you that I have problems finding availibility. hmmmmm....decisions...decisions......

I was there the first week of December last year and with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend, had no major problems with crowds.

We've been there early december for the past several years. Pop Warner is always there too. No problem. You do run into groups from time to time in the park, but we never encountered "crowds" or problems.

One night they closed MGM early and reopened for a pop warner event. Think it closed at 6 that night.

this is the frist year for "mousefest" before that, RAPD/Deb Wills had a gathering..you're talking about 300-400 people...won't impact capacity at all.

DISCON - Don't know if this event is being held again this year. haven't seen anything about it. Again, #'s are not that high that it would impact crowds.

Agree..if you stay in places other than all star/pop century you propbably will not run into pop warner crowds.

enjoy your planning!

Sometimes the cheerleaders are there at this time also. Its an off time so it doesnt really affect it that much.A couple times they closed the Indiana Jones show for the day so the cheerleaders could practice. The only way it affected us was we couldnt get into Planet Hollywood because there were several large groups of them waiting for tables.

Don't know about the crowds, but you may have problems with DVC accommodations. That has become a very popular time of year for DVC members because of the low point costs for resort rooms. If you want to book Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Boardwalk and maybe even Saratoga Springs, you'll want to do it at least 8 months before your travel dates. DVC members can book at their "home" resort up to 11 months ahead of time.

At 7 months prior to travel date, DVC members can book at any resort. It's at this point that open rooms at the more popular resorts (particularly BCV and VWL because they are so small) will disappear.

You may be able to book closer to your travel dates at OKW, and it's a fabulous resort IMO. But I wouldn't recommend taking chances with the other resorts.
