I started taking stuff down today. All that is left is the tree and the outside lights. And there is only a handful of cookies left.

Anyone else almost finished with Christmas yet?

I wish we had even started!! I mentioned it to the kids the other day and everyone was in an uproar -- it's too early to take it all down. I'd love to get the house back in order. I'm more than ready! Maybe this coming weekend!

Pretty much all down here. Normally, I wait until New Year's day to take everything down, but decided to get it going last night. Kids helped put all their ornaments away, lights and garland away and all that was left standing was the tree. It went back into it's boxes this morning. I have a couple small things still sitting around, but that's about it here.

Funny how much I can love our Christmas tree, and then on December 26th, I have hostile feelings for the damn thing...the needles all over, the tinsel all over, the dog wagging his tail and almost knocking it over.

We traditionally take ours down on New Years Day, but DH might have to work late and I may start taking it down tonight. THIS YEAR I intend to super-organize all the decorations (bought some lovely red & green containers at Target) so that we can find it all next year, and in the order we want it (ie, not have the Christmas lights on the bottom of the box). Yeah...we'll see how that plan goes.

We took down the decorations last night because we needed to get the tree out of the house and planted before it was too late. Usually we cut down a tree and take the decorations down on New Year's Day. I sort of like it better knowing I can sleep in a little tomorrow and not have to confront all of "last year's" decorations!

Working on it now....well between computer breaks ;)
I hope to have everything away today.....sure is a LOT!!

DH has the day off tomorrow so all of the stuff comes down. He will be organizing the garage to fit some of DD's older toys in there. I will be cleaning her room and organizing for the new Christmas presents to fit! :earseek:

Tomorrow I will probably be  !

Probably on Friday. This year, the kids are off til the 5th, so they can help take the stuff down as well! (I think this is a good thing!! ). I am tired of adjusting the lights and garland because the cat has suddenly taken a liking to knocking the stuff off the tree! I can't stand to see a messy tree!!:earseek:

Our tree will be up for a while longer. It's fake so that makes it easy to keep up. Plus I like the idea of having everything up until at least Epiphany.

I just can't bring myself to do it until after the first. All my life I have been told its bad luck to take the tree down before New Year's Day-don't ask my family is from the old country and I've had to grow up with a lot of these little quirks. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff-however, I'm terrified the second I do it I will be doomed!!!!

I'm hosting a party Friday night, so everything stays up until then. I'm hoping to have it all cleaned up and packed away by Sunday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the Valentine's Day decorations in all the stores on the 26th, though:earseek:

Usually I have it all down by 12/26 but due to our trip, we are having our "Christmas Eve" party tonight, so I left them up. They will be down tomorrow.

I will leave my up until this weekend.

Took all our stuff down today. I used to wait until Jan. 2, but the last couple of years I've been doing on Dec. 31, and it's such a nice feeling to start the New Year fresh and clean, nothing left over from the old year (well, except for the Xmas cookies on the hips, but that's a whole 'nother subject ;) )

Why be in a rush to get rid of Christmas? It's a wonderful time of year, and to me it's more enjoyable after the rush is over.

We'll leave the lights on until Sunday, January 4, and the main tree up another week. Our small tree in the corner of the family room may just stay up all year, with several changes in decorations.

DW Pat found an Easter Village that will take the place of the Nativity scene in the foyer.

Happy Holidays! I'm in no rush to see them end.

ours came down 12/26. Our house is small and its amazing how much room the tree takes up. We usually can't wait to put it up and will put it up the day after thanksgiving, but when christmas is over, I am ready to see it go.

We usually take everything down on New Year's Day, but this year the kids got a puppy for Christmas and she found great joy playing with the lights, I just kept thinking about the cat in "National Lampoon's Christmas" so it came down yesterday. I still have the candles in the windows and the wreath and little trees on the front porch.

Outside decorations have come down over the last two days. Will be working on the inside decorations tomorrow along with going to the movies.
