We orginally planned to do brunch at Palo's this morning, but since it was our character breakfast at Parrot's Cay, we switched our ressie's till Thursday for brunch. Not that many people were at the breakfast, neither of the two sets of dining companions showed up; many people were feeling seasick due to high waves and windy conditions. We really just took it easy with the eating. We saw lots of characters and had our pictures taken with several. It is just myself, DH and DS (14), but we still enjoy it.
After breakfast we relaxed and read our books. There are lots of activities going on, but really it is seldom we get to just enjoy the view of the sea and read-- so we stayed on deck 4 lounge chairs.
Lunch was the Asian buffet and we ate indoors at Parrot's Cay; got some souvenir chopsticks. They also had an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. DS went to Pinnochio's Pizzaria for pizza.
After lunch there were several movies playing at various times, including Santa Clause 2 which we went to see. Afterward, we had to get ready to go to Castaway Cay Club members reception at 5:15 in rocking bar d. We decided to eat light since our last eastern cruise we got sick that night and weren't sure if it was all the coconut shrimp or rum punches or what. This time they had smoked salmon on crackers, cheese, and I think some other type of sushi or fish. We had sodas-- not the rum punch, just to be safe. The captain came over and spoke to us, keeping his hands behind his back (being careful not to shake hands to spread germs). He told us this rough wind and high seas were pretty typical winter weather and conditions. We asked what he expected for our first port tomorrow, St. Maarten; said he couldn't guarantee sun, but was hopeful. He is a very quiet man that I don't think would ever get overly excited, even if there was a fire. I guess that is a good thing. We have always had that other captain (I forget his name) that is now gone; we had him on the wonder and also on the magic.
We then left to get a seat for the show, "Who wants to be a Mouseketeer?" Boy, those trivia questions are quite difficult and were different from the last time we went. Many people got to play, only one father/ son got to the level to win a free week long cruise. However, they missed it.
I believe this was the night someone was sick on the right hand side stairs down almost in the front of the theatre. It had been very rough. Suddenly a guy in hazmat type outfit was there cleaning it up as a CM directed traffic around. Again, it could be due to motion sickness as many were feeling it.
After the show, we dashed over to rocking bar d to get a seat for the cabaret show, Jeff Harris, a comedian and juggler. This was something to juggle a lot of weird things with that extremely low ceiling and with ship rocking and swaying as much as it was. Show was okay, DS said he really liked it, especially when the guy juggled with a scooter balanced on his head.
Afterward, we went to dinner at Parrot's Cay and we met some of our dining companions. Jamming John was not feeling that well and asked for some salted nuts to nibble on as he heard salty things were good for motion sickness; I told him about ginger pills and ginger snap cookies which I had heard about; I was wearing my sea bands on my wrists; don't know if they work or not, but I never got sick. DS says it's just an old wive's tale-- he can't believe something like that works. I brought dramamine, etc. but hate to take pills if I don't have to.
After dinner, we went to see Sweet Home Alabama movie--- others went to the juggler's adult show and said it was better.
Then we retired for the night--- our last night of rough seas-- I actually felt them lessen in the night and I couldn't even tell if we were moving. More tomorrow on first day in port. Barb
