Dec 27/08 NYE Western Cruise - Really New Thread

I'm up... and killing time on the 'puter instead of actually getting to my massively long To Do list!

I had big plans to make a fabulous FE. Didn't happen.
I'm going with this one:

http://disneyshopping.go.com/disney...1__Accents-Mickey-Mouse-Christmas-Card-Holder

Definitely more Christmas than New Year, but still in the spirit of the holiday season. Right?

I decided to pack up a box and send it to the port in advance. It ended up being so heavy I would have been better off bringing an extra suitcase and paying the darn excess baggage fees... you know, the ones they charge if you bring much more than a toothbrush.

Oh well, one less thing I'll have to schlep around with me. Hopefully my big, heavy box will be waiting for me on the Magic. Otherwise Kathy may be the only one who gets a FE goody from me since I mailed all the others off in the box. ;)

For some reason i thought i had heard you couldn't ship boxes in advance....hope that was wrong information & also such a great idea....but i really LIKE your card holder idea for the Fish Extender...I already HAVE a card holder that i will just bring & use - it's not Disney themed...but it will WORK & now i don't have to try to make one or buy one...

Had one of the diamonds in my ring fall out this week:mad: so having it replaced & the prongs reworked....uggghhh just more $$$ that i didn't really need to spend....oh well - Ry told me last week he didn't need a tux....so there's a ltl savings...won't kill us to pack his suit jacket....

staring out over the deck into the calm Pacific waters...going to be another gorgeous day here!!!

Hi everyone,

I have to catch up on the last page or two.

Kathy, did you travel alone on the transatlantic, too? Have any kids? (Just sneakily trying to find out what age group you're in. I'm in the 40-50;) ).

Anjelica, a shipboard meetup right before the charter excursion is a good idea. Give me time and place, and I'll be there with my crew.

Hey Tiggie curious minds wondering if you got the logo stuff in the mail/fed ex???

I'm getting that gotta be ready soon freak on :scared1:

:duck: Finished them up tonight actually...

I had to change the logo, me thinks you'll like how~

I promise they'll all be enroute Monday morning :upsidedow

Clicky Clicky...

These will be wide enough for a nice chest piece on your tshirts...
they should fit adult and kid tees, they are nice and readable and the logos are easy tp see.

Someone here wanted to make their own.

If you want to and haven't - or are not on my list;

this links to a really good size logo you all are welcome to copy and make your own tshirt transfer~.

FYI: Alls I do is buy tshirt transfer paper at the office supply store, they sell a cotton canvas I really like, print the logo on the transfer paper just like real paper, cut the logo to size and iron on your perspective tshirts.

I think I remember reading the thing about no more shipping boxes in advance too, but I spoke with the warehouse manager and they're fine with it; as long as you follow some pretty specific rules that is.
If anyone is interested in going that route let me know and I'll post what I found out.

I've started going through my closet and I think this whole holiday cruise thing is totally going to undermine my attempts to pack light. :rotfl:
It's been going something like this: lets see, do I want to take the red Christmasy top or the tropical island print top to go with those pants? Hmm better throw them both in.
:rolleyes1

Yeah i googled the shipping box thing & found the updated guidelines...thought about doing the same...but then realized whatever space is taken up by FE gifts will be 'available' space for cruise purchases ;)
but i know what you mean on the packing.....uggghhhhhi....i'll just have to see what i have room for....guess that will determine what i take....we are trying to limit to 1 large suitcase each & then our carryons (mostly for car trunk space)....Ry & I have always taken 1 large SC each & then a med size for our toiletries, shoes, etc. We may still have to do that - which would become his carryon basically...whatever he needs on the plane could probably fit into my laptop/printer case....I HOPE!!!

Tig, I have to tell you those photos are A plus!:thumbsup2

Thank you Ais

Today we went to Batsto NJ for the Victorian Christmas.

The place is cool, circa mid 1700s and beautifully preserved.

I was a little miffed when we were told no photos inside the mansion.

A link to that slideshow of course will be posted later.

I checked my numbers today,

I physically have over 9200 photos posted on my photobucket site :faint:

Hey - Tigg got some questions for you as I am a huge admirer of your photo skills/ability.

What kind of camera do you use for most of your pictures - more specifically your night pictures? My biggest issue with taking pictures (like the ones you got of the Osbourne Lights) are not getting the right setting to get those good nightime shots (i.e. fireworks, etc.). I use a Nikon DSLR - any suggestions/tips?

Would you be open to the idea of using a tripod?

I use a Nikon D40. I can give you very detailed tips if you choose not to use a tripod. My settings are very customized as I favor the P mode...What model Nikon are you using?

For basic, basic suggestions for anyone doing night lights:

No Flash!
Use a Hi ISO setting, 800 - 1600 or even higher.
Line up your shot,
pull your elbows all the way in to your side,
take a breath, hold that breath
and click.

ETA: You can get a good long exposure by using a solid surface like a trash can top to set you camera or elbows on to help steady your hand.

If you are doing night portraits. Use the night setting, you'll need the flash, and have them hold still til the photo is done - you'll get people blurs if they move before the shutter finishes.

Aisling and Brenda, that's only the stuff I've put in PB!

I use an external Sea Disk for the thousands of originals I have in my puter.

I see the world in photographs and have been at it for twenty years.

I don't *know how* to put the darn thing down!

:thumbsup2 i just bought a new ext hard drive yesterday & had 10,576 photos to back up....

That's alotta great memories I bet you've got in there.:thumbsup2

Everything I take gets backed up 3 times before I delete them off my memory cards. My pics are literally my life it devastates me to think I've lost even a small piece of it.
