Dec 2007 A mouse Odyssey/lotsa pics

When I came back from Disney, the first thing I did was turn in all my film, a few of the rolls I did one hour development so I could get started right away.

Let me welcome you to my sanctuary
scrap.jpg

This is just a corner of my scrapbook room, the most important corner as that is where I do all my work. I have a tiny portable DVD player set up in there because I like back ground noise, but not music, cause then I tend to dance and neglect my pages. you can see I have a little dog bed in there for my littles. Kiki and Falula. They love to be near the Mama.

I had plenty of stickers and diecuts to choose from, almost too many to the point of being over whelmed
stash.jpg

I did just fine, and I still have tons left over, (but that hasn't stopped me from buying more :rolleyes1)

I started out my introductory page in my Disney album
album.jpg

I did not purchase this album at Disney, they only sell toploads and I prefer the strap hinge.
On my introductory page I matted my confirmation letter and glued it down then journaled about how many years I have been waiting to go to Disney, the second page I matted and glued down the receipt and highlighted "paid in full" I included on a 2 page spread the van rental with the receipt and a picture of the van, and then a picture of the van packed and ready to go. I always have to include a travel page, this time I had a small map with Orlando, FL. circled for our destination. I also included pictures of the kids keeping busy, watching movies, reading, sleeping etc...

I did not take a picture of the big sign when you first drive onto Disney property, but I did get lots of pictures when entering into Pop Century, I love to scrapbook memorabilia, so I have the resort map in my album, other things I have put into it are, our room keys, napkins with the restaraunt logo, I put in a coaster from Coral Reef, receipts from post cards, fast passes, confetti from the parade, the list goes on. If I haven't already used acid free paper as a back ground I make sure to matte all my memorabilia onto acid free paper to keep it from eventually spreading to my pictures.

There is not a wrong way to scrapbook, that is what I love best, they are my memories and I can put them down any way I like. I can have a busy page with lots of pictures and stickers like this one I did from the Buzz LightYear ride
buz-1.jpg

Or I can focus on just one picture like this one where Reese is trying on the Goofy hat
goofy.jpg

one of my pages is so simply done, I just used one sticker and repeated the same word a couple different times, even without the journaling the idea is plain and simple, Kent was GRUMPY!
grumpy.jpg

Some of my friends couldn't believe I would do a page on how grumpy he was, but I had so many pictures of him with a sour look on his face it seemed funny to me.

I didn't take tons of pictures for RnR , just 4 and then the ride picture, it was a simple page, 3 with the outside of the ride and one inside, and the other page was just the ride picture, sometimes I feel like I didn't do enough on a page, but the saying is "simple pages complete albums" I try remember that and not sweat the small stuff, after all this album is more for me and my family to remember.
rnr.jpg

Sometimes I was not able to get a good quality picture, so in that case I used postcards and pictures both, my prime example is wishes
wishes-1.jpg

I chickened out and didn't bring my Cannon into the park, I thought it was too expensive and didn't want to risk it getting broken, the down side to that is my other camera does not take good night pictures, but I still think the page turned out o.k.

I had so much journaling but couldn't fit it all in on each page, so I gave a small bit of information on each page and then the last four pages of my album I journaled a detailed itinerary of each day.

I wanted to add the maps of each park and I did, but I also wanted to include maps of each park that could be taken out of the book and looked over, so I used the envelope info packet that was given to me at checkin, I cut off the flap and made it just a pocket that I glued to the inside back cover of my album, I also included in that our welcome letter and park info that we received for the week.
scrapbook.jpg

Even though I managed to fill 45 pages both front and back I left alot out, mostly because I had only one picture of it and it wasn't enough to carry a page, like I took a picture of Gepetto, but I never got pinnochio, so I left that out, I have purchased 2 albums for my next trip, plus the 7x7 album that I am going to pre decorate and use as my autograph book, I will post some of those pages after I have worked on it a bit.

so that is a peek into my Disney scrapbook. Thank you for letting me share.

YEAH A fellow SCRAPBOOKER!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:
I am reading through your pretrippie. Aahhh I am so obsessed with reading pretrip reports!

So here you go, another faithful reader!popcorn::

Hi Mommy, I miss you. only 41 more days until I come home. I can't wait for our trip in december.

45+pink$

Swanslovedisney Reese and Kent got me that phone last Christmas. I love it. I like that he talks to me when I have a call coming in, it annoys DH so he unplugs it and then all it does is ring normal. How boring!

Yup, no birthday party since I was 13, very sad. I think that is why I go all out for my kids birthdays.

ILMICKEY Yes, I got the have a magical day. This could mean something!
I always got the christmas/birthday gift too, and my birthday is weeks away from Christmas. I also got a lot of Christmas ornaments as b-day gifts, as a kid I hated that, but now I love it. I put 3 Christmas trees up each year and I need all the branches I get.

jackdis I sometimes mention to the cm's that I am on my Mickey phone, the females always comment or go awwww, the men ignore it. BORING!

Lovemy3babes I like the idea of a b-day breakfast too, plus it gurantees we will be at the kingdom before rope drop, which is one of my 'wants' for my b-day, also to walk down an empty main street, and hopefully, maybe get a "happy Birthday" from Capt. Jack Sparrow

LurrrvtheDuck I am most excited right now for Crystal Palace, that could change at anytime, depends on the mood. Afew days ago I was most excited Liberty Tree Tavern.
I think the CM's hold out saying "Have a magical day." as to not wear it out before we get there, but they do offer it when making ressies for a special day, that's my opinion only because that is the only time I ever heard it over the phone when calling for anything. (and I call a lot.)

ChrisLei Welcome fellow scrapper! I love new readers, especially ones who say they are faithful readers, those are the best kind. I see from your ticker you are doing a land and sea trip. How cool. I would love to be able to do that some day. Anyway, thanks for reading.

TeenReese13 Hi baby girl, I am counting down the days too. And I love you and miss you more!!! I'm the mom, it's part of my job. (and I want a raise)

I totally feel for you right now. Mine go for a night and I'm all agitated and nervous. Hopefully everything is going alright!!

Do you and Kent do anything special while the kids are in Michigan? Any romantic little trips?

ILMICKEY Thankyou for your support. Kent and I usually take a few weekend trips. One to the shore, and one to the cabin, but we haven't this year, we are both pretty busy with work. I prefer to stay home anyway, I feel more connected to the kids when I am home.

He finally asked me what I was thinking about. When I told him disney he said, "I should have never asked."

:rotfl2: Sounds like my DH

love your phone :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now I get to walk down an empty main street on my birthday, and I am stoked about it. It's complete! My birthday will have Characters there to start off the day.[/B]

Woohoo for you :woohoo:

Wish one of us had a birthday to celebrate while being there. Sounds so magical princess:

:flower1: Wow! I just got through reading your trip report. I thought I knew you pretty well from your last report and your posts on mine, but man, you have blown me away with this trip report!

I loved being introduced to your :grouphug: family. Your sister, brother and you seem so close, which totally doesn't surprise me, and your parents are so cute. That pic of your daughter on the first post of this report is BEAUTIFUL! She reminded me of Belle. :goodvibes

I know I'm jumping around here, but I loved that poem you wrote about Disney. It was how so many of us feel and it read kind of like Dr. Seuss who I absolutely love! :thumbsup2

I'm glad that Reese made cheering. I can tell from your posts and her report how much cheering if her life (and yours), and I was so happy to read that portion. :yay:

:guilty: That had to be horrible seeing that horrible accident take place. I'm glad that the woman in the car made it and that no children were involved.

:rotfl: I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the posts on your trips to HD to get the lime green PCs!!! Especially when you and Reese went in disguise. The conversations between you two just added to the fun. You are one of the best moms I've ever met. Reese is a blessed young lady.

I knew that scrapbooking is a HUGE part of your life, but man girl! :worship: You are the SCRAPBOOKING QUEEN! I hope to create at least one scrapbook as beautiful as the ones in your pics. Beautiful is an understatement.

I'm so glad how things are coming together for you with the upcoming trip. That Mickey phone was sooooooooooo cute! :confused3 Where did you get it? I would love to get one like that, even if it was just for decorative purposes.

Now that I've gotten this far, I should have an easier time keeping up. Hey, I'm on summer break, so it shouldn't be too hard. I love reading your posts. They are hysterical and so real.

Your kids will be back before you know it. Try and hang in there.

Keep the posts coming! popcorn:: I'm waiting.

I loove your magic Mickey phone! That is too much fun!

And I think you made a choice doing the early CP breakfast on your birthday (I love the food at CP...puffed French Toast and chocolate muffins!! YUM!). Having Main St. all to yourself is magical on any day, but on your BIRTHDAY?? Total bonus pixie dust!! pixiedust:

blue river Thank you for reading. I am so looking forward to having my birthday at Magic Kingdom. This day will be all about me!!! :)

njdisneyfreak Welcome to my pre trip. Glad you found your way over. How has your summer been treating you?

Dr Seuss was always my favorite, he is a big deal here, the schools (elementary) celebrate his birthday every year, Reese once dressed up as the cat in the hat and Jim as thing 1 for the big party at school. It was fun

You say such nice things to me. (blushing) My mom was pretty much all business with us kids growing up, I like that my kids and I have a respected friendship.

I glad you liked my scrapbook, really I have seen some gorgeous pages by other scrappers, I tend to scrapbook the old school way, but it works for me.

Kent and Reese got my my Mickey phone at The BonTon, but I have seen them at JC Penneys as well.

I can't believe the kids have been gone almost a month now, time should start going a little faster now. Coley is spending next week with me while Coach T is in Nashville, so that will help the time fly too. Thank you for your support.

Enjoy your summer and come back soon.

AGPrincess your comment made me hungry. Tell me how are the blueberry muffins at CP? I love blueberry muffins. Reese will really like the chocolate muffins.

I have many friends, I like to surround myself with happy, fun, love to laugh people. 3 of my friends are named Jen. I have my night life friend Jen (our daughters cheer together) I have the goofy friend who is my voice of reason when shopping friend Jen (our daughters also cheer together) then I have my life long (12 years anyway) friend Jen, All good people, I love my Jens.
My life long Jen friend used to date my BIL, she was in highschool when I first met her, she is 9 years my junior. for 3 years I thought one day I could call her sister, but over night the relationship she had with my BIL died, me and Jen's friendship kept on blooming.

Jen has had to listen to my disney rants for over a year now, she has gladly looked at my pictures/scrapbook, listened to my new plans and is always more than willing to go Disney shopping with me. She is my uber fun friend.

example:
10 years ago we had a conversation about Scary movies, how unrealistic they can be. Why is it no matter how fast the girl is running, the killer, who just walks, always catches up to her? Why do the girls not take off their high heels when running? Why is it when the girl finally manages to knock the killer out, she never checks to see if he's really dead, and she leaves the weapon lay next to him while she turns her back and just cries? As Jimmy says, Scary movies are so cliche. From that conversation we decided to make a movie of our own. We had the Brainy girl, the dumb cheerleader and her identical twin who was a chess nerd (I played the dual role) and the prom queen who wore her crown 24/7 (played by Jen) we did all the cliche scary movie stuff, but we added to it, we would make a point to change our shoes before taking off in a run, (we had time cause the killer walked slow) it took 2 weekends to film and we had a blast. You might say this is way off topic but I am simply showing you what a fun girl Jen is. Why am I bothering to tell you this? Here is why..............

Jen just came back from a trip to Florida, she took a day to spend at Magic Kingdom. I filled her in before she left.
1. Try a Dole whip, I heard they are good.
2. Look for the hidden Mickeys.
3. Take advantage of the fast passes.
4. If you can, do a character meal.

There was more, but you get the jist of it.
I knew she would have a ball. She and I have gone to Cedar Point, Dorney park and Hershey Park together, this girl loves parks. So I was ready for her to come back and say "OMG Ty, we have got to plan a WDW trip, you were so right, and you're smart and pretty." ok I didn't expect the smart and pretty comment, but I was ready for the "You were so right about Disney" comment.

Yesterday was our Monthly chinese food lunch followed by power shopping at the mall date. I was so excited for her to finally have an understanding about my love for Disney, I couldn't wait to see all the pictures she took and hear the stories of this ride and that, and where she ate and who she saw.
We made small talk, we normally save the juicy stuff for after we have chowed down.

The check comes and she still doesn't mention Disney. So I have to bring it up. "How was your trip"? she shrugs, "It was ok." (uummm what, just ok?) So I prod her to tell me about it, she said she didn't like it. It was too hot, the lines were too long and she never saw a single hidden Mickey. I asked her if she had her eyes open at all times, because the park is full of HM's.

I believe that there is no right or wrong way to do a vacation, but in Jens case....yeah, she did it wrong.
So right away I try and offer up some hope, "Well Jen you didn't stay on disney property, and you only did one park, did you use fast pass? no? well that could have saved you some time. Where did you eat? You left and went to McDonalds? oh, I see. YOU DID IT WRONG!"

I could have maybe let it go and not even said anything here on the boards, but then Jen tells me she might be pregnant. (she refuses to take the test for another week) We have the whole am I/are you ready for this talk. She is, she's manager at her one job (it's a lucrative job at that) she will be fine, of course once she starts to show she will have to take a hiatus from her second job at Hooters. This whole conversation comes back to Disney.
"Well Jen once you see disney magic through the eyes of your child it will all make sense then." And she informs me she will not be taking her child to Disney. I choked on my fortune cookie, which by the way the fortune was stupid!

But now I feel the need to prove to her that disney is the best place to take your family. It is my mission! I will take even more pictures and twice as much video, and she will watch them!!! I will tie her to a chair and physically hold her eyes open if I have to.

My goal is not to convince her that I am not crazy, but instead convince her that she is!!!!! YOU NEED DISNEY! or at least you need to like it.

:cheer2: So happy for you that you will get to walk down an empty MAin St. what a truly great way to start your birthday!:thumbsup2 Ty I love your Mickey phone there has got to be some good luck pixie dust thing going on whenever you use that to call Disney! Sorry your friend didn't like Disney, you kind of have to shake your head and wonder if people like that had their eyes closed while they were their?:confused3 You are right she did it wrong! Poor girl!:sad2: I love your report!:wizard: I posted on Reese's that she needs to hurry home because your posts back and forth are making me tear up!:sad1:

Poor Jen did it all wrong, didn't she? And she won't take this poor child back? You HAVE to change her mind!!!

I am so glad you are going to CP for your birthday. CP has always been special to me on past trips. On our last two trips, we began our first full day by eating there and taking tons of pictures in an empty MK. You're going to love spending your b-day there, especially getting birthday hugs from those cuddly Pooh and friends characters. Eeyore gives the best hugs!

You know that I'm off from work for the summer, so right now, I'm working on that curriculum writing and basic skills individual plans, for that extra WDW trip money, and enjoying the summer overall.

That's great that Coley is spending the week with you. Such fun, and a good way to enjoy time with another young lady, while you wait for yours to return. That's nice of you to take her in, while her mom's away.

So, I am enjoying the summer, so far. And, I came right back to keep up with your board. Keep it coming! Loving it. :goodvibes

 WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER?! Not take your child to Disney? Not even enjoy it yourself? Are you kidding me?! She needs major Disney intervention. I hope she realizes how blessed she is to have a Disney freak as her friend. You are already on the job, so I know she'll come around, in time. :thumbsup2

dddisrunner Ya know, I can't wait for the walk down an empty main street. I keep reading about peoples experiences of doing so, it just gets me all giddy.
Important calls are made on that Mickey phone!
Yes, Reese does need to hurry home. Only 37 more days.

Lovemy3babes yup! poor Jen, she will never know what she is missing. But I have time to change her mind.

njdisneyfreak Glad you are keeping busy, passing the time away. Is writing curriculums extremely time consuming? I home schooled Reese for 6 months when she was in 6th grade and I had to keep major records for the ex husband and send him a weekly report of what was planned in each subject for the week ahead. I liked home schooling her but was happy when she went back. I could never be a teacher, too much work!

Really looking forward to Coley coming over, we'll spend the days at my the pool and the nights in my scrapbook room. I don't mind keeping her while Coach is away, it helps me as much as it helps her.

I am working on an intervention for Jen right now. I think the key is through her boyfriend, he seems like he could be the Disney "kind".

I didn't want to say anything yet because I don't wan to Jinx it. But my brother is planning a trip out to see me this month. It'll be a short trip, the
18th-22nd. He is still in school and just started a new job but was able to get time off from both. Lola is coming out too. They are looking for a 3rd and maybe 4th person to drive out with them to help with the costs. That is the deal sealer right there. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Mat has always brought friends out here with him, they all love my place because it's in the holler surrounded by trees and a creek out back and a creek on the side. Very tranquil.
(And I throw the best parties:thumbsup2 )

But anyway, I hope it works out, I did get to see him over spring break, but it was cold and we were stuck inside and he was in school most the day, so this will be a nice vacation for all of us.

Reese and Jim come home in 37 days, and our Disney trip is in 151 days:banana: Having Matt here will break the time up for me a bit.
I think he planned the trip because I have bawled on the phone to him so many times about missing my kids and not having the money to come out to Michigan this year. He's a good baby brother.

I hope your brother is able to make the visit! It must be torture to be without your kids...I can not even imagine.

37 more days...You can do it!!!

ILMICKEY Thanks for the input on the crocs. I wore flip flops the whole time in Myrtle Beach and ended up with huge blisters again. I am thinking I just might have to croc. They are just so ugly!! I know the majority of people at Disney will be wearing them so it's not like my feet are going to stand out like a sore thumb.

buzzlightwait Thanks for the guys view on it. I know Kent wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of crocs, but he doesn't have foot issues like I do.

ericamcl I am leaning towards the crocs, every time I am at Boscov's I try them on but I can never bring myself to do it. Alot of it is I don't know what color to get:confused3 I like my shoes to some what match my outfit and I wear all different colors, but I don't want to have to buy more than 1 pair of crocs. White would get dirty too fast and I heard that the black crocs absorb the heat. Any suggestions?

Hi Ty!
I'm just getting caught up on your pre-trippie. Glad to hear you went with the crocs. I have black beack and pink / pearl mickey beach :goodvibes

I have also just been introduced to scrapbooking...and I have NO idea where to even start? I have a book, lots of "cute" paper and several stickers....any suggestions?

I hope the countdown for Reese and Jim's return speeds up for you...they'll be back before you know it...and I hope your little brother is able to make a visit to see you :wizard:

Yes, curriculum writing is extremely time consuming and the only thing that keeps me motivated enough to do it, is that it's paying for a portion of our WDW trip. That will always motivate me!

Teaching is a ton of work. Compared to my normal work load during the school year, doing this work in the summer is cake. Yum! Cake. Okay, sorry. Remember that I'm working on losing weight here and I had a momentary lapse. But, I slapped myself and am back to my sense again. :rotfl2:

I wish you well with your time with Coley and the Jen intervention. Hey, "Jen Intervention". That could be the title of a new thread for you! :goodvibes

Too bad you can't throw a cyber party for us here, since you throw good parties. :sad1: But, I'm sure you will fill us in on any you may throw. :woohoo:

How funny to be having so many countdowns! But, I am the same way, as I'm sure you've learned. Just think. When you wake up in the morning, you will be one day closer to both!!! :cool1:

The blueberry muffins are really good too. They're nice and soft and moist. They are pretty small, but then you can have more of them. :thumbsup2. oooo and I love the fruit at CP. They usually have this HUGE bowl of strawberries, and next to it, a HUGE bowl of whipped cream! Sorry. Am I making you hungry again? :goodvibes

Too bad about your friend Jen. I can't believe she went OUT of the park to get lunch!! She could've at least gotten a turkey leg or something... But hopefully you can convert her so her new baby won't be Disney deprived!

And my fingers are crossed hoping your brother will be able to visit you! Summer wouldn't be the same without brothers! ;)
