I am treating my whole family to 5 days at WDW in December of this year. My home resort is SSR. We need a Grand Villa and would really like to stay at OKW because of the point difference. My plan is to try and get a grand villa at SSR as soon as my 11 months is here and that will be in 19 days. I would then like to get a GV at OKW and then cancel SSR. Does anyone think that is a possiblity? Any advice would be appreciated!!!:cutie:

Sounds like you have the plan in place. My only suggestion would be to try to book the OKW GV day by day. That time of year (Dec) is very popular for members but I am not sure what the demand is for the GV.

Good Luck!

I think it may be tough getting the GV at the 7 month in DEc.

I think your plan is a good one as long as you don't have to borrow points to facilitate it. As for your chances of a GV at OKW at the 7 month window....pretty slim, but you never know, and the suggestion about waitlisting one day at a time is a way to do it, but could result in you having to move in the middle of your stay, should a day or two not become available. For that reason, you may want to waitlist the whole trip for an OKW GV rather than day by day.

Overall your plan is good and I think you have a decent chance of success. However, HOW to do that is the $64000 question. If you have enough points to hold both reservations until the last day you will be in the best position possible but most don't own that many points. But even if you have enough extra points to carry one or two days at OKW before you start canceling, you will be better off. If you have to wait list you'll have to decide whether to do so day by day or for the entire 5 nights at one time. It essentially comes down to whether you want to move during your stay or not.
