Day 2 Sunday
Began by Character Breakfast in PC. We had a great time and got lots of pictures with the characters. Most of the pictures Shutters made would have been great except for me...my eyes were closed, my hair was sticking up(left over from Bill the Duck sitting on my head I guess) but I got one of Natalie with Pluto, her fav, so thats all that mattered.
Immediately after we breakfast we went to the theatre to Disney Behind the Scenes with Patrick Page. Patrick plays Scar in the Broadway production of The Lion King. He did a brief talk on his career, how he met Paige and his hopes for his career. He showed some video of when he played Lumiere in Beauty and The Beast(where he met Paige). He chose a young man from the audience to read the part of Simba, and Patrick of course, did his part of Scar, a nice skit and the young man was thrilled!!!! Patrick also showed some video on how he gets into his Scar costume and makeup and how the costume(s) work. He also sang his signature song, "Be Prepared". What a voice!!! I could have listened to him sing all day.
While waiting for Patrick to begin, we were sitting with a great family from New Mexico. Linda and her daughter Christina. Christina is an aspiring actress and wants to work for Disney some day. She is such a lovely girl, I'm sure she will succeed. We became instant friends and saw them all over the ship. There was also a son/brother with them...but he was one of those absent teens we hear so much about!!!!! I met him the last morning of the cruise as we were leaving the ship!!!
We did the matinee performance of Golden Mickeys. WHAT A SHOW. Personally, I like this show better than Disney Dreams.
Natalie was interviewed on the red carpet and that was a treat for us. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW. Barb has described it on her website, so I won't go into details...but DON'T MISS IT!!!!!! And Jim and I actually went back to the 6:30 performance too.
I started something at 3:00 I said I wouldn't do this cruise...yep, you guessed it....BINGO...played like 5 times and never won a cent...Jim went with me a couple of times and he saw how frustrating it was. The only reason I do go is because the staff is so much fun, Andy, Andrea, Trevor...they help make the cruise fun.
That night Natalie went to the club to see FINDING NEMO and a pizza party, so Jim and I were on our own. After dinner we went to the 70's night. Well, those of you who have been on cruises know all about 70's night. Gloria Gaynor and John Travolta and the Village People! We always laugh until tears run down our cheeks.
A message was left that a time had cleared in the Spa for Natalie to have her Teen Makeover for Monday morning...so she was all set. For some reason this trip, we did not do anything in spa, except for Natalie. Jim worked out some in the workout room, and I did the treadmill once before I started to feel so bad.
Day 3 Monday
Great day at sea. Natalie went up for her Spa thing, then went to the club. I did the BINGO thing
and then Jim and I went to the Disney Behind the Scenes and met up with Linda and Christina. We went to the theatre for a q&a with the Disney Theatre cast. We were then told that the 8:30 performance of Golden had crashed(a circuit board fried) the evening before and they were doing a performance at 2 or 2:30. So, we decided to stay and see it again. I personally thought it was excellent pr for DCL to run this again for those that missed the ending.
We did that Bingo thing again and then we all three went to see Hercules and it was great as usual. Hades and Pain and Panic are always a scream..even better this time I think. After dinner, we stood in the atrium while Mrs. Claus read some Christmas stories. Natalie went back to the club and Jim and I crashed(well, one of us is awake until she comes in..ususally me).
Day 4 Tuesday St. Maarten
We got off the ship around 10 and took the water taxi into Town. We did some shopping, Natalie had to go into MacDonalds...she's a kid and had been away from MD's for 4 days at that time..lol and Jim checked out the casinos. None of the casinos measured up to his taste(I think he was looking for a Luxor or Mandalay Bay) and we were back on the ship by noon.
After lunch, Natalie decided she wanted to swim and go down the slid, so just about the time we got to the Mickey Pool, they closed it. Poor thing..everytime she wanted to go down the slid...the pool was closed. We went to the Goofy Pool instead and she was cool with that.
We had Palo reservations for 6:30, so she had room service, which we never had a problem with. They were always there before the time the quoted me. And we were to meet her in the theatre at 8:20 for THE HAUNTED MANSION. We had a lovely dinner. We had calamari, salad, pizza, Jim had fish, I had filet, and of course the souffle. We had Kristian as our server and he is the best. We talked with the couple sitting next to us..as you know in Palo..if you are at a table for two...it's really like a table for 4!!! They met us in the theatre with their 6 yo son to watch the movie and we had a great time.
The Magic was not sailing from St. Maarten until 10:00...so we went up to the deck party after the movie. Natalie and her new
friend Jansen from California, danced and danced and danced. Linda and Chistiana joined us after a while and we had a great time just watching the kids dance. Just as we sailed, it started to rain....although the band had to stop...the music and dancing didn't.
I didn't tell anyone, especially Jim, but I was beginning to have a sore throat and feel bad. We had taken such precautions before the cruise so our chances at getting the dreaded Norwalk would
diminish...I never thought about the throat thing. Went back to the cabin and took a decongestant we had brought and some Ibeprofun(sp) and hit the bed. Since the next day we had immigration at St. Thomas....I left a oh dark thirty wake up call!!
More later...................stay tuned....................
