The way I check my waitlist is on the dvc site...I look under my vacations and see if the day I waitlisted came through. I have a 1bedroom booked while I wait for a studio..I figure I will see the studio replace the 1bed. ressie right???

Yes you can. That is what I do also.

Why not waitlist day by day and for the whole 5 days too? I think you can do day by day for each day -- you don't have to do those 1 day at a time. Unless I'm misunderstanding your note?

I read it as you want to say 12/4 through 12/9 and you waitlisted for that period, plus you waitlisted for 12/4. If you get 12/4, then you'll waitlist for 12/5, etc ... did I read it right?

If so, you should be able to waitlist for 12/4 through 12/9 and waiting for 12/4, 12/5, 12/6, 12/7, 12/8, and 12/9 at the same time -- assuming you have the points.

Yes, you interpretted my post correctly. The reason that I didn't waitlist each day individually is that I don't want to change rooms every night. I think that 3 changes are about my limit. On the 2 reservation method, I really haven't thought about it. The biggest problem that I could run into is that I am using up a lot of banked points and I don't want to be left with any banked points. Also, I only have about 3 days worth of points extra.

I should add, that being said, I am half thinking about doing the same thing from the end of the trip backwards which would give me at most 4 changes.

Yes you can. That is what I do also.

This is what I do as well, but the issue here is if the waitlists are removed (like occurred to the PP), we'd never know.

You could also cancel the day by days if you don't get them, so you dont have to change as much.

Well, I couldn't stand it anymore. I called yesterday and waitlisted day by day for the BCV 12/7, 12/8, 12/9, 12/10, and 12/11 checking out on 12/12. I waitlisted a 2 bdrm lockoff and a studio.
I had already waitlisted our confirmed SSR 2bdrm and studio for 12/7-12/12 as a whole, but figured I would have a better shot at day by day.

So, I have a confirmed stay at SSR for 12/7-12/12 2bdrm and a studio that is waitlisted as the entire stay at BCV and BWV any view. And, I also have a day by day waitlist for BCV 2bdrm lockoff and a studio.

I think I totally confused the girl at MS, but she was very nice and I think we have everything straightened out. I am going to call this afternoon and check on everything. I have been trying to get on the website all morning and it says it is updating. So maybe my waitlist is being added!

Even though we are not waitlisted anymore we do plan to waitlist for AKV for the second half of our trip. I did make someone happy today though b/c I canceled my BCV 2 bedroom for 12/27-12/29 and moved to VB.

Add me to the wait listers! Just 1 day, 12/28 at BCV for a 1 BR. Too bad I didn't pick up that last cancelled ressie!

If we don't get that waitlist, we will have to move 3 times (aargh!) - we were always moving 2x, but now our last day we wanted at BCV isn't available. If it comes through, I will only move 1 time, after our first night.

Keeping my fingers crossed - 12/28 is a long way away - who knows what might happen?

I am waitlisting AKV, BWV,BCV,VWL for 3 studios from Dec 1-5.
We may end up at 3 diffrent resorts but it will OK.

My final waitlist day came through today for 12/22 at the VWL! I have to call tomorrow and link everything together and add ME and DDP!

For those that are waiting..I had such quick luck with mine I am sure all of yours will come through too!!

Well I partially broke down today and did the 2nd half of my trip as day by day. I called this noon and I was able to book a BCV 1 BR for my last 2 nights. So, as I was re-arranging everything, I decided to add a day by day waitlist for the remainder of the second half at BCV. So my current reservations are:
12/3 BWV, pool/garden view, 1 BR
12/4-9 SSR 1 BR
12/9-12 OKW 1 BR
12/12-14 BCV 1 BR

And my waitlists are:

12/4 BWV preferred view 1 BR
12/4-9 BWV preferred view 1 BR & BCV 1 BR
12/9-12 BCV 1 BR day by day

I think that now that I have BWV and BCV book ending my trip, I will change my waitlists so that I am only waitlisting for BWV for the first half and add a day by day wait list for that. So I think that tomorrow I will change to:
12/4-9 BWV preferred view 1 BR day by day
12/9-12 BCV 1 BR day by day.

(So yes jdg345, despite what I posted last night, I will convert to day by day and take my chances with multiple resort movee.)

I hope you land what you want ... there seems to be a science to this, but I'm also fairly certain there's a good deal of luck involved. I'm concerned that the further we get from the 7 month window the less likely our chances of filling are. Time will tell though, we're still a ways away. It sounds like you have something to fall back on, so you should be good.

I don't like moving once though, so moving 2-3 times would be really tough for me to do.

If it weren't for the SV, I'd likely give up my AKV stay altogether ... but since I did get confirmed SV, I figure worst case is I move once. :

I called Tuesday and put us on the waitlist for a GV at AKV for Dec. 20-26. We currently have a 2 bdrm booked because that was all I could do with the amount of AKV points I have. Three of the days were available but I am not interested in moving at all. If I can't get the whole thing, I'll just stick with the 2bdrm.
