Same here! Everytime I see that someone's waitlist goes through, I rush to the dvc website and see if my has come through as well!!! My husband just laughs at me and says, "Did someone else waitlist come through?"

Confession: I've been checking twice a day, too.

I went ahead and booked Animal Kingdom Lodge for the nights we don't have a DVC room, just to be safe. I'd really rather have our 2 bedroom at SSR than all cram into one room at AKL! Come on, waitlist!

It seems it may now be possible to book at 7/11 months based on Check-In Date (+7) instead of Check-Out Date. Similar to the way ADRs are allowed at 180 days (+10). There is talk in the thread as well about only allowing whole period waitlists instead of day-by-day. It could certainly make waitlisting more interesting.

I just saw that thread. I think that I will like this change. For most of my trips, it won't matter, but for those trips that I want to take in December....

I don't like it at all, it's just going to be a mess. Besides, it'll still lead to day-by-day booking ... people will just start a week earlier:

Want the 25th through the 31st? Start booking on the 19th as you can book through the 25th on the 19th. Then, call on the 20th, extend to the 26th, and cancel the 19th. Rinse, lather, and repeat.

The problem, of course, is if someone does this before you and scoops up the last room. Then when you try to call on the 19th to do this, there is no availability. So do you start on the 17th to beat out the person that got you on the 18th? It's a mess!

And what if you don't play that game? And let's say you want the 10th through the 16th. Well, if enough people want the 6th through the 12th, you might never have a chance of getting the 10th thru 12th because someone staying before you took all those days already.

I think it will be a big mess as well. I am not worried since my resort is SSR because it is soooo big. I am worreid for BCV,BW and VWL. You all might have to play the game that DVC has created. Look at all the people who put Dec dates on ebay. I have no doubt they will be the ones to cheat the system.

OK, I don't think that it will be perfect, but in that scenario, if I wanted the 10th through the 16th an you wanted the 6 through the 12th and the check out date rule was still in place, you would be able to book your stay before mine anyway.

The biggest chance for abuse is, as you stated, those who book dates that they never intend to use at the beginning to gain an advantage. Perhaps a rule that you cannot cancel the first day of your reservation without some sort of penalty?

That's it exactly though ... I can book before you so I get my vacation. If enough people do the same, you might not have an opportunity to get the 10th through the 12th, even if you call at 9am at exactly 11 months prior.

And what about those that travel by air or have variable work schedules? What if they need to delay their trip a day ... should they forfeit those points? Or perhaps risk losing the whole vacation because an Airline, Customer, or Employer forced a change of their plans?

Add us to the list. We are waitlisted 12/2-12/7 for a studio at BCV, BWV, AKL, and VWL. We are booked in a studio at SSR.

We currently have a 1BR and Studio at VWL booked for Dec. 21 and a 2BR at VWL booked for Dec. 22-26. We are on waitlist for a 2BR at AKV for Dec. 21-26. So if we get our AKV 2BR, some units will open up in VWL. Like others, I check multiple times daily.

We are still on the waitlist for 12/4 for a Studio AND a 1BR at SSR. I called MS to make sure since all the other days came through so quickly and we are still on the list. Sigh...
