Debt Dumpers - 2013

we were doing great, paid off another card. last one will be paid in 5 months. BUT needed a car so now we have a car payment.
luckily the monthly payment is exactly where i needed it to be & less than what we were paying for the credit cards.
good news is we found out hubbys credit score isn't nearly as bad as i thought. :-)

Congrats on the new car!! Seems like your doing a great job getting the cc paid off! Just think, in 5 months it will only be the car payment, no cc payments :thumbsup2

Bumping thread! How is everyone doing? I am still waiting on my state tax refund to put towards my cc. I'm starting to lose my patience!! I did get 21 hours of overtime this past pay, so I plan on dumping that on my cc this weekend!

We haven't filed our taxes yet- we made the mistake of filing too early a couple of years ago and it bit us in the behind!

The tax software had a 'glitch' and caused us to have to file an amended return and pay a small penalty. So now we wait and keep updating the software until almost the deadline before we file.

Hopefully everyone is receiving their refunds quickly!

Filed my taxes Monday and we are getting a nice return. 1/2 will go to tuition for the little kids, and the other 1/2 will go to debt.

DH got a surprise Excellence bonus last week, but then hit a deer on the way home so now we need a new grill and hood for the GTI. I'm not claiming it on insurance because after the deductible we will be 3/4 of the way to a new hood and we both just had to have our windshields replaced, which we did claim because we have free glass coverage. We will use the surprise money to cover that expense.
DH is mad but I said it's more like free money because we weren't expecting it so on the upside it doesn't put us in a hole. I'm ok with that.

I'm feeling very discouraged right now. My sons father has decided he won't pay his child support so I'm left with a huge gap in income. I was finally making headway on the bills he refuses to pay and now this. AARRRRRGGHH!!! It's so frustrating! I know there are ways to make him pay through the courts but that takes months to happen. I'm back to living on a shoe string and working a lot more OT than I planned to just to have enough money to cover bills and prescriptions. DS's meds are $75 a month and his father is responsible for half but he never pays. He just says that since he pays child support he's not paying anymore even though our agreement says he's to pay half of all medical costs that fall outside of insurance premiums. And now he's not paying anything. So frustrating!!!

Does anyone have good news to pick me up? Please share if you do!!

How frustrating! I'm so sorry he is being a jerk.

I would still take him to court if that is your agreement. Even though it may take months, they can make him back pay.

I plan to!!! He's just being a jerk because he can be. Sadly it takes 6 months of missed payments for him to face any consequences court wise but I plan to call our case worker and have her kindly remind him of his responsibilities. Until then I can't dump any debt which sucks but I make enough to get my bills paid and eat beans and rice. Maybe when I get the back pay (if he decides to be a jerk for a long time) I can take the vacation I'm putting on hold.

Thanks!

That is ridiculous that it takes 6 months. What are you supposed to do if you couldn't cover the meds? Just not give them to your child? That ticks me off!! I hope when you get that back pay you can take a relaxing vacation !

I received a $150 bonus for opening up a checking account with chase. Half went to my savings and half toward my CC debt. Yay free money!

What a jerk! I would take him to court even though it takes a while. At least you will get the ball rolling and maybe you can get his checks garnished.

I am doing pretty good. I have $400 left over from last paycheck to tomorrows paycheck. That will go into my House fund!

I start over every paycheck in my budget and savings. So after I put my money into my savings if I have anything left over at the next pay check it goes into my house fund. Since my car insurance premium goes 6 months (4 pay, 2 not pay), the next two months I will have $93 each month going into the house fund. :) I am getting closer and closer. I can just smell that new house smell of new carpet and paint! lol

We are ready to start dumping debt! I will not be as "gazelle intense" as I should be, but I am going to do it! We are going to Disney this year, so we will be making sure that is paid off in the process as well. My husband's company is being bought out, he should still have a job, but we will not know until 3rd quarter. We will receive a nice check when they take over for the stock options that they will buy the day of take over. On top of what I will be paying off before then, we should be down to only one car payment with a hope of being debt free no later than this time next year. I am a sahm of 4 kids. I would like to make some extra money, a regular job isn't really an option do to my husband's workload and the cost of daycare. I would love to pull in $5oo a month and would enjoy suggestions that anyone has. No direct sales please! Thank you!!

Great job! It sounds like you are making great progress while enjoying disney!

Have you tried looking for part time administration work? These jobs will usually let you work around your children's school schedule.

I still have 2 kiddos at home, so I am pretty limited. As soon as they are all in school, I hope to become a lunch lady:) I love kids, but not enough to be a teacher, bless them!

Great job!! Is this a new promotion their running? If so, I wouldn't mind checking it out! Although I do love my current bank. I know sometimes all you have to do is open a new account and have your pay checks direct deposited. I would change that for a $150 bonus! As long as I can keep my current bank too.
