debt consolidation

DH & I are interested in obtaining a debt consolidation loan.

We know the pros & cons, and are not interested in a debt management plan (like CCCS or similar).
We have very little equity in our home at this time.

We are hoping to get a cons. loan to pay off some personal loans and credit cards. We need to refinance our house in about a year, and would like to decrease our dti and increase our credit scores to obtain a better rate. (dti should decrease if we qualify for a loan, pay off all our other cc's & loans, and leave the cc's open, BUT cut up the cards-- I promise not to use them).

Anyone here to the MBNA or other unsecured consolidation loan? Please let me know of reputable companies. I don't want scammed!

How about a consolidation loan through your bank? Go with a reputable business and you won't get scammed. Good luck!

I don't know who to suggest because I don't even know if you can get a loan consolodation without doing a HELOC/HELO unless you have really high scores and low DTI...yes I know...seems wrong.

but I suggest you go to creditboards.com and check out the mortgage board...there should be lots of help there.

I would post this over on the budge board. There are a lot of financially saavy people on that board that might know of some reputable banks.
