Do the disney restaurants accept debit cards? For the first time in 6 years we are considering offsite accomodations for our June trip and I do not want to put our dining on a credit card or carry around large amounts of cashI hope to get a pin or at least a decent discount. I can't see paying nearly $4,000 for the same vacation that I paid $2,700 for last year. Thanks for your responses! :goodvibes

Yes, they accept debit cards if your debit card has a master card/visa logo.

Have you considered purchasing Disney gift cards and using them for dining? A lot of people do this so they can sort of "pre-pay" for their meals, and not have to worry about carrying cash or credit cards for the purpose of meals. If you're a Sam's Club member, they sometimes offere promotions where you can buy a $25 gift card for $23, stuff like that.

Yes, they do accept debit cards, but there is one caveat. You have to have it run as a credit card, ie you can not enter your pin number. This usually is not an issue, except my credit union blocks non pin transactions from FL as well as other states due to fraud. :confused3

1) We prefer credit cards to debit cards.
2) Debit cards are far more risky than credit.
3) Especially in Florida, where card numbers are stolen a lot.
. . . there are many reports of cards being duplicated
. . . from stores, restaurants and hotels (yes, even at WDW)
. . . both credit and debit
. . . money gets taken from those cards sometimes in minutes

4) Although most banks reimburse stolen debit card funds,
. . . it can take 7-10 days
. . . in mean time, whole account can be stolen
. . . you have zero cash funds available
. . . any checks outstanding bounce all over the country
. . . if no credit card with you, you are stranded

True about debit cards being risky. We always have a mix of funds when traveling - some on our debit card, some available credit on our credit card, some traveller's checks and some cash. This is good in case of emergency, identity thefts, and banks blocking cards, etc.
