Debit Card rewards...

Wondering if anyone knows if this is possible....
I currently bank at a local bank, but am not tied there for any reason, except convenience. I am looking for a secondary bank, location of which doesn't matter.
Do any banks offer rebates/points for debit card purchases that are worthwhile? We use our debit card often. Don't like using credit cards, even if we can get freebies.
Any info would be appreciated.

Only one I know of is the PayPal debit card. IF you list something on Ebay once every 3 weeks with PayPal as your preferred method of payment you get 1.5% back. When you use the card when shopping and they ask Debit or Credit you tell them Credit even though the card is a Debit card.

M & I Banks in Wisconsin offer a reward debit and credit card. However, I don't know how or if someone from out of state can get them. You can check out their website and see. I know one thing that is nice is if you get both the debit and credit you can combine those points. The website is www.mibank.com.

Charter One offers a Mega Rewards card. It works just like the usual debit MasterCard, except you earn points anytime you use it as a credit card (ATM use doesn't count).


Prize levels are 1,500-100,000 points. The 1,500 level is worth approx. $10, the 3,000 is worth approx. $25, 4,500 is worth approx. $45, 6,000 is worth approx. $50-$60, 12,000 is worth approx. $100, 18,000 is worth up to $200, you get the point.

I don't have an account there but seriously considered opening one. You earn one point for every dollar you spend with your debit card. What killed it for me is that they charge you to have this card. You must pay $25 in cash each year or turn over 3000 points. I am annoyed at anything that requires fees (just my personal opinion). I'm sure that $25 is well worth it for those that use their debit card lots. You could really get a nice gift at the end of 1 year!

I'm not sure if there is a Charter One in your state, I live in northeastern Ohio and we have them here.
