Debbies Watermelon Trip Report The Sequel! Pre-trip Report
Cast of Characters:
Debbie (me), 21, recent college graduate, part time nanny
This trip came about back in January. I returned from my trip in January without a WDW trip planned, and needed to quickly fix that problem. I knew that I wanted to make my next trip to WDW around the time of my college graduation (May 1 is the last day of classes and the graduation ceremony is May 10). So, the trip was planned for May 2-5 (a quick trip).
I made some phone calls, and was able to get a room reserved for these nights at the Dolphin. Hooray! I love the convenience of the Dolphin. Since I spend the majority of time in Epcot, I love the convenience of being able to walk to and from the park. With that set, I made plane reservations with Spirit Airlines - $175 round trip. Not the best price, but still pretty good!
With the hotel and airline reservations set, it was time to start planning! If you have read my first Watermelon trip report, you know that Off Kilter and Tapestry of Dreams (ToD) are my top priorities. As a rule, Off Kilter plays Sunday through Thursday, so I knew Id definitely see them play two days (Thursday and Sunday). What else is there to do on Friday and Saturday, though?
I came to find out while planning this trip that fellow Off Kilter fan, EpcotKilterFan (Debbie) will be in WDW at the same time, so we made plans to meet for lunch on May 2. Debbie called for PS ressies, and got 12:10PM PSs at Le Cellier for May 2. That works well, as Off Kilters first show is at 1:30.
Then, I started to work out the rest of the weekend. There was so much I wanted to do that I have been missing on previous trips (I still want to see the Stars and Motor Cars parade in MGM, Mickeys Jammin Jungle parade in the AK, and just spend more time in the AK in general), that theres no way I can do it in 2 days. So, I checked Spirits website to see what their rules are for changing travel dates. I found out that Id have to pay a $75 penalty for changing flight dates, and, since I knew my tax refund would be enough to cover that, I went ahead and extended my trip until May 7 (Tuesday). Now, I have time to see Off Kilter play and explore other parks! I didnt have to be back to work until Wednesday, so I had the extra free days to extend the trip.
Now, the only thing that has to be done is wait! May 2 is right around the corner, and Im ready to go! Im packed and have everything I need, so all I have to do is wait until May 2.
Up next: (To be posted on May 2) Day 1 Epcot, a mini-DIS meet, Off Kilter and ToD!
