Hello All

My wife and I are on the fence as to which resort we should choose for our home resort. We have stayed at AKL twice and would love to try out the Poly and possibly BCV. Is it easy to get the Poly 7 months out in September? Also, from the videos we've seen, the Poly pool looks smaller compared to the AKL pool we've been in. For anyone who's stayed at the Poly and been in the pool, what was your opinion?

Any feedback would be helpful, thank you!

Poly in Sept at 7 months is likely doable for now. 40% of the DVC rooms has been released but only 20% sold, so plenty of room rooms are still avail at 7 months if not a busy time. Sept before F&W isn't a busy DVC time.

The Poly pool is on the small side but it's a very nice pool and has a large child play area.

We own at both Poly and BCV and if I were choosing one, I'd choose BCV.

We love its location and theme and stormalong bay is hard to beat.

Poly has 25 more years, true. But. DVC is most likely going to expand at BCV after VWL and I'm content to wait and see how that turns out.

We love both resorts. If we had to pick one, it'd be BCV.

Poly has longer contract life but I think it will be easier to get into at 7 months. BCV is tough as it is small. AKV is very easy to get into unless you want value or club rooms (but even owning at AKV and booking at 11 months those 2 can still be tough...I owned AKV for a couple years and tried...I sold AKV cause I can book savanna view there at 7 months out with my OKW points).

I'd go with BCV. We own BWV that we bought direct and could have bought BCV for the same price. I regret that we didn't get BCV. We went with BWV to be able to save points by booking standard view rooms but have found that's tough to do even as an owner.

Only you can decide after experiencing all of the resorts. Nothing worse then buying a home resort that turns out not to be your favorite and you having difficulty booking your favorite at 7 months. Your Disney vacations will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars, not being able to stay at your favorite resort/room/view doesn't make sense.

Personal choice but it sounds like you need to get a better feel for the system, options and your preferences before proceeding if DVC is right for you in general. I think most of us feel the Poly will be easy for Lake View studios at 7 months but no once can be certain.

we been to Disney the last 5 years and plan on going again this year. Once we have kids i cant see us not going so we are thinking DVC is the way to go .. We both have Disney loving families and would be nice to share a trip with them once in a while as well.
Thanks for the help as we have some researching to do !

IMO there is more than just liking or going to Disney for DVC to be a good choice but it's a start. My list of qualifying issues including being able to afford it (to me that's no consumer debt and paying cash), being OK with the long term risk and compromises of a timeshare and staying on property (and paying more) is the choice with or without DVC. It also includes using points for DVC ONLY, not for cruises, RCI etc. Once you understand the system and choices sufficiently, the best route for you should be pretty straightforward. If you're uncertain it's either because this is the way you're put together or you don't have enough info or both. There are many other ways to go to Disney without owning DVC. IMO far better to not buy when it's perfect for you than to make a bad purchase. Good luck with your decision.
