Was it Bush or was it Quayle ? Bet you can't tell :)

1) Obviously, if you join the National Guard, you have less of a chance of going to Vietnam. I mean it goes without saying.

2) Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream.

3) A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls.

4) I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family.

5) Hawaii is a unique state. It is a small state. It is a state that is by itself. It is a -- it is different than the other 49 states. Well, all states are different, but it's got a particularly unique situation.

6) I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn't here.

7) It's wonderful to be here in the great state of Chicago.

8) You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.

9) I love California; I practically grew up in Phoenix.

10) I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe — I believe what I believe is right.

11) We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world.

12) There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

13) It's rural America. It's where I came from. We always refer to ourselves as real America. Rural America, real America, real, real, America.

14) I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

15) It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.

16) They misunderestimated me.

17) If we do not succeed, then we run the risk of failure.

18) Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?

19) What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is. (My all-time favorite quote of any shape or form....lol)

20) We've got to make the pie higher !

(Hint: The evens are all one person, and the odds are the other)

I gave Bush too much credit, if not for the hint I would have thought Quayle said them all. BTW, the losing one's mind quote is one of the funniest ever. He makes Yogi Berra look like Socrates.

Who cares?
Why, nobody, Steve...After all, why should the president of the United States be able to speak in public without making a fool of himself ? I mean, that's not important, is it ?

Then why start this thread?

Oh, I know ... just another drive-by bashing. Partisan politics at its best.

Nope not drive by (I'm not going anywhere)...more like a standing still bashing :)

I love it when someone like you uses the phrase "partisan politics"...It's about the same when I use it....I just don't know how you can do it with a straight face, really

Besides...they're his own words...How is it "bashing" to quote him ? I can't help it he sounds like a high school kid praying that he doesn't flunk his communications final :hyper:

I concur. I and the aquatic cast of Finding Nemo get along just swimmingly. ::yes::

At least, I think [we] do.

Hmm... where are they?
:scratchin

*SIGH* Is it really necessary to point out the bashing to you?

Yeah... this isn't bashing.
Man, there ain't a straw man around that can stand up to you :hyper:

Yes, THAT part was bashing...I'll fully cop to that

Politics aside, many of the quotes are so stupid that they are funny.

I was at Borders the other evening and they had a whole display devoted to "Bushisms." You would think he would have at least improved his ability to give speeches after 3.5 years!

As far as why one would want to start this thread, why not? It is a "Community Board" on a discussion forum. Should we only discuss what Steve feels appropriate?

And speaking of "bashing"... Shall we do a search for some of DawnCt1's threads?

lol...Yeah, it's a possibility I guess ;)

Hey, have you seen that Miller Lite commercial where the guy makes up the words ? Cracks me up every time :)

Candidate: This whole thing's a sham, a travesty, and a mockery ! It's a travishamockery !

Moderator: No making up words.

Candidate: Burgleflickle !

LOL, no, haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to look for it.

Very funny post! I've copied it for my DH who keeps saying
that GHWB was obviously upset that he couldn't choose
W and chose Dannny because they were so much alike.
He still has his "Peace, Love, Dope" button-the dope being
Dan Quayle. I couldn't have picked who was who if I'd tried.
thanks for the giggle!
